Chapter 1543: Chapter 1538: You think you’re up to it?
Tang Ye’s gaze was firmly fixed on the other self floating in the sky. Seeing that he wasn’t running away, Tang Ye quickened his pace. However, the sudden increase in speed seemed to alarm the other party. The other Tang Ye quickly waved his arms as if commanding the astonishing number of monster-like beings below, who advanced like a tide of corpses.
Tang Ye’s hypothesis was confirmed; with the motion of the other self’s arms, the crowd below became even more packed and began to climb onto each other. Soon, an embryonic wave began to form, but before it could fully materialize, Tang Ye managed to topple it single-handedly!
Seeing this, the smile on the other Tang Ye’s face began to fade. He waved his hand again, and the crowd stopped shoving each other, instead emitting roars. These sounds, if not listened to carefully, bore a resemblance to the noise zombies make when they spot living creatures.
As the chant-like sounds started to rise, the masses on the ground surged towards Tang Ye like a rising tide. Yet, amidst the dense crowd, black ash could occasionally be seen, clearly indicating that numerous trampling incidents were occurring.
The other Tang Ye, on the opposite side, didn’t seem to have any reservations, even though some of the people he was slaughtering were familiar faces. His pace did not slow as he cut through them with billowing dark fog, forming numerous tendrils from the fog, while beams of black light forged from the fog zigzagged through the city now submerged by the sea of bodies. With each pass, countless lives were taken.
The Fake Tang Ye hovering in the distance knew that mere numbers couldn’t stop the real Tang Ye. It was only a matter of time before he was reached, and he clearly wasn’t planning on using these people to stop Tang Ye. As the people below launched a suicidal charge at Tang Ye, he waved his arm, and several people with equally dense hair appeared, among them several hulking figures that were hard to miss!
After these people appeared, the chanting from the Fake Tang Ye followed suit. In the next second, those with hair as dense as his began chanting as well. The melody sounded like a sorrowful lullaby, which seemed somewhat ludicrous in such a setting, though they seemed oblivious to it.
After a brief moment of chanting, the people beside the Fake Tang Ye started moving, rushing towards the direction where the real Tang Ye was, at an incredibly fast pace, completely out of the league of the monsters Tang Ye had previously encountered!
As soon as they started moving, their figures turned into streaks of lightning, raising a storm that shredded numerous companions who shared the same target into pieces or flung them into the air!
Tang Ye didn’t know how much time had passed; he had no time to look at his phone, and even if he didn’t reach for his phone now, he could feel that the phone that was originally in his pocket had long been crushed into pieces by his massively expanded body the moment he revealed his true form!
All he knew was that, where he had traveled and slaughtered, nothing remained but blackness—the black ash released from the bodies of people might have piled up to nearly three meters high on the streets of Xi River city!
"Is this the end of the line?"
Having just used the black fog tendrils under his control to grind the densely packed monsters in front into black ash, Tang Ye looked towards the other self, noticing that he wasn’t running away. If it wasn’t for a map restriction like in Camberlite, then what could possibly be the reason?
A dead end? Or something else?
He could feel the panic emanating from the other self, which further confirmed the thoughts in Tang Ye’s mind.
After slicing through the pesky beings around him one by one, Tang Ye also noticed the several abnormally fast monsters. With a quick glance, Tang Ye rapidly targeted them, bent his knees, and charged towards the figures rushing at him!
Huh~
Under the pressure of two mighty forces pressing against each other, the ground couldn’t bear the strain and began to "crack crack" as sinister fissures appeared. These fissures quickly expanded, splitting the streets of Xi River city in two. The violent air pressure moved the dense crowd to both sides and in no time, the first monster charged at Tang Ye. With a leap, the flesh on one of its hands began to wriggle, skin burst open to reveal dark purple, cotton-like tissues churning within, intertwining and merging with the outer skin. Soon, the monster’s hand transformed, as if coated with a thick layer of keratin, from a normal human hand into a huge, sharp claw!
It let out a low growl, unleashing the full extent of its power, slamming down from the sky with full force towards Tang Ye!
At that instant, gravity seemed to increase several folds, emitting a dull sound from deep within the earth. The scattered black dust, like an inverted hourglass, started to rapidly pour back into the ground!
Meanwhile, a massive cloud of dust was kicked up, and within a hundred meters of where Tang Ye stood, countless people were shaken into the air, screaming "aaah aaah aaah", only to be slammed back to the ground, instantly bursting into piles of black ash!
"Join us!"
With a roar, the giant claw smashed down onto Tang Ye, and a "boom" resounded! Vast quantities of black dust scattered in all directions, concealing Tang Ye’s figure. But as the black dust cleared, the monster swinging its giant claw at Tang Ye now had its neck firmly grasped by the latter!
The transformed claw flew off, with black ash scattering from the severed joint.
"Just you?"
Tang Ye snorted disdainfully. This strike, while impressive, was trivial in his own eyes, only reaching a power level of Level 6. Such force was so insignificant that even comparing it to an ant would be an exaggeration. However, it was undeniable that in such a short span of time, these beings that emerged from shadowy graffiti already possessed Level 6 strength? This rate of power growth could not be ignored!
His eyes locked on his opponent’s, his hand gripping the other’s throat tightly. The monster tried to speak but could only produce a "wu wu wu" sound, its throat being constricted. It struggled desperately, but Tang Ye’s strength was insurmountable.
"Join... join..."
After several attempts and still being unable to utter a complete sentence, the monster simply gave up. It violently turned its head towards its only remaining left arm. Just like before, the skin there began to explode, and fibers that no normal human being should possess began to move and combine. But would Tang Ye give it the opportunity? The hand grasping the creature’s neck suddenly tightened and lifted, then smashed it down onto the ground!
Bang!
Accompanied by a loud boom, the ground violently trembled, numerous buildings collapsed, monsters clinging to them fell down with the falling debris, and in front of Tang Ye, the body of this person exploded into a large cloud of black ash!
