Chapter 1353: Chapter 1348: A Borrowing Repaid 3
"Keep an eye on her, don’t lose her!"
"I could take her out with one move, but I’m not sure what the purifier’s container is made of, afraid I’ll smash it!"
"Don’t take too long, block her path for me."
"I’ll go to the Shelter, in case you guys fail, I still have a chance."
"OK!"
Xu Mengyun ran without caring about the pedestrians on the street. Amidst the screams, she didn’t know how many cars and street stalls she had knocked over. Then, she looked up and saw a motorcycle flying over her head. Its front and back wheels were spinning wildly as it flew past her head and crashed into her side.
"Huh? Where did that motorcycle come from?"
As Tu-E watched the motorcycle speeding towards him, he couldn’t help but feel puzzled. His attention had been solely on Xu Mengyun and he hadn’t noticed anyone around. By the time he shifted his gaze towards the direction the motorcycle had come from, there was no one to be seen.
He casually reached out a hand to catch it; the motorcycle was headed straight for him, but the moment Tu-E’s hand touched the motorcycle, his expression drastically changed. The next second, with a loud "bang," the rooftop he was standing on collapsed instantly. Thick cracks spread across the ground like a giant dragon, wildly extending, and those cracks seemed like the gaping maws of a huge ferocious beast, swallowing many people. Blood-curdling screams echoed from underground, becoming hollow and mingled with a faint reverb.
A man-made storm wreaked havoc, and a multitude of buildings were destroyed in an instant. The framework that supported their structures could not withstand such force. Large amounts of concrete and steel were swept up by the storm into the sky, then crashed back down, creating large pits in the street. Many people died as a result.
As for Tu-E, the moment he caught the motorcycle, he was sent flying backward, landing amidst destruction and debris. From the dust, his face showed surprise. He hadn’t expected the motorcycle to exert such tremendous force, far beyond his imagination!
And the material of the motorcycle was incredibly durable; his strength hadn’t torn it apart!
He had thought the motorcycle flying at him was at most thrown by a Level 7 or Level 6 New Human, so he didn’t take it seriously, but now, it truly caught him off guard.
Boom!
"Damn it!"
As the motorcycle not far in front of him caught fire and exploded, a brief blaze obscured Tu-E’s vision. He couldn’t help but let out a roar of anger, quickly standing up from the rubble, shaking off all the debris from his body, breaking through one crumbling wall after another, and leaped back to his previous spot. He looked in the direction Xu Mengyun had headed, and the next second, his eyes narrowed sharply.
"She’s gone!"
...
"F*ck! I’ve lost her!"
"What the hell happened? How did you lose a Level 6?"
"F*ck, I have no idea what happened. I was chasing her, and out of nowhere a motorcycle popped up, sent me flying, and by the time I got up, she was gone!"
"Could there be someone from another force?"
"I don’t know who it was. I was just focused on that woman and didn’t pay attention to anything else."
"F*ck! Never mind, just wait there. It must be another group coming to rescue the girl. I don’t even know what’s so special about her, surrounded by so many Near-Heaven Levels! We’re just a little ways away from your location, we’ll come to block her place soon."
"Okay then."
After exchanging a few words telepathically with Jiema, Tu-E continued to emit his perception, trying to locate Xu Mengyun. He sniffed and suddenly noticed a disgusting smell in the air that instinctively repelled him. People who had barely survived in the corners also covered their noses, shouting, "Where’s that sour stench coming from?"
The sour smell was strange, a bit like a bottle of vintage vinegar, yet different, more offensive than actual vinegar. To humans, it just smelled sour, but to Tu-E, it was a completely pungent assault on his senses!
The irritating odor constantly agitated Tu-E’s zombie aversion nerve, driving him to leave the area!
At the same time, the smell also masked some of Tu-E’s perceptions, causing him to lose track of his target.
He stood at his previous spot, staring down at everything below for a while before growling resentfully, "Damn it, Ma De!"
What he hadn’t expected was that, about a hundred meters away in a small two-story building, Xu Mengyun looked around, feeling a chill in her heart. She was surrounded by three powerful New Humans, stationed at different positions, cutting off all her escape routes. Among these three, they were all Level 8 New Humans. One of them was the very same person who had captured her and brought her there, and it was then she realized that a Level 8 zombie had been watching her for days, and those odd insects she had never seen before were part of that zombie!
The ability to elude the sight and perception of a Level 8 zombie and lure her here meant the guy’s strength was palpable, a bona fide Level 8 New Human, and the other two, could the New Humans’ level be any lower?
At this moment, she had truly entered a dead end, literally no escape!
A deep sense of powerlessness swept over her heart then, with no one left to save her. Even if there had been only one Level 8 New Human, the probability of successfully escaping from their grasp was less than 0.0001%!
Practically no chance at all!
She regretted taking such a risk. She had just wanted to blind those guys with this method; if successful, it would have been stealthy, but she had too little time to consider everything, unable to withstand the ceaseless trial and error of those maniacs!
She shook the clothes on her body. Before she was brought here by that Level 8 Powerhouse, she had been pressed into a bathtub filled with some brown liquid, and only then did she stay here. She didn’t know what the liquid was, but it was sticky and emitted a strong acidic smell that made her feel uncomfortable all over. If it hadn’t been for the presence of those two men among the three Level 8 New Humans, she would have taken off her clothes already.
Not far from her, a swivel chair with its back turned to her blocked the view of the person sitting in it. The chair’s high back hid their entire body, only showing a pair of legs crossed at the ankles.
