I Am Not Goblin Slayer
Chapter 70: Timely Rescue

"Come on! You guys come at me!" Randell rasped out a threat.

Suddenly, the goblin on the far left, slightly larger than its companions, let out a piercing screech and lunged at him like a lightning bolt, wielding a severely rusted dagger.

It's over! They’re not scared of us anymore!

Randell’s mind went completely blank in an instant, and his hands lost all strength to resist.

He could only watch in despair as the ferocious demon, wrapped in the stench of filth, rot, and excrement, charged at him, the rusted dagger growing larger and larger in his vision!

"Vzzzz—!"

At the critical moment.

From the side, a sharp, piercing sound broke through the heavy air!

"Pfft!"

A blue orb of light, brighter than the goblin's charge, flew with incredible speed and precision, stabbing into the side of the goblin's chest!

The terrifying force and destructive power tore through its skin and muscle the moment they made contact, crimson muscle fibers snapping like broken threads.

The pitiful green figure suddenly flew sideways, crashing into a rough tree trunk in the distance.

The filthy body twitched twice before going limp, sliding down the trunk and hitting the ground.

The other goblins were stunned by the sudden attack and the horrific fate of their companion.

Their murky yellow eyes were filled with primal terror from the depths of their blood. Their throats rolled as their previously advancing steps froze stiff, slowly turning their heads toward the source of the attack.

Randell gasped for breath, his heart pounding violently against his chest, almost leaping out of his throat.

The sudden change had also left his mind blank, but as he realized what had happened, he quickly looked toward the direction where the blue orb had come from.

Sparse moonlight pierced through the canopy, and in the faint silver glow, a tall, well-proportioned figure was outlined.

It was a handsome young man.

"Good thing I’m not too late."

Saved?

Hunter Randell felt a surge of joy from surviving the ordeal.

"Careful, there are still several more," Randell reminded the newcomer in a hoarse voice after a brief moment of relief.

It was nighttime now, and goblins in the forest were far more dangerous than during the day; a moment’s carelessness could be fatal.

"Don’t worry, I have experience. I won’t let any of them escape," the young man replied calmly, as if misunderstanding something.

"I’m the Goblin Killer."

Goblin Killer?

Randell was stunned for a moment.

Before he could say anything more.

The young man moved suddenly, like a silver streak flashing through the bushes.

"Shu!"

With a flick of his wrist, the rapier transformed into a nimble long snake, precisely piercing the throat of the nearest goblin.

Looking closely, the blade seemed to be coated with a faint glow.

"Second one."

The young man’s clear voice echoed distinctly in the quiet forest.

A bone short spear flew toward him from another direction.

"Smal—"

Hunter Randell’s eyes widened as he caught the scene, but the words he was about to say stopped in his throat the next moment.

The white spear burst into tiny blue sparks as it touched the young man’s body, and the impact dissipated like raindrops falling into a deep pool. With a soft thud, the bone spear fell to the ground.

Another goblin, seemingly spurred on by its companion’s bravery, rolled forward and stabbed upward with a stone dagger toward the young man’s ribs near his heart.

"Vzzzz!"

The leather armor the newcomer wore shimmered with a ripple of energy once again.

The goblin’s strike seemed to be dissolved by a mysterious force beyond its comprehension.

Taking advantage of the goblin’s momentary daze, the rapier suddenly swept upward from below.

"Swoosh!!"

The spine of the blade ruthlessly cut open its neck, and a head flew into the air, accompanied by thick, scarlet blood!

"Third one."

The calm voice continued to resonate in the night.

But to the last two goblins, this seemingly plain voice was no different from a death knell.

After losing three comrades so quickly, the last two goblins finally broke down.

They turned and scrambled, rolling and crawling deeper into the forest, trying to escape.

The young man was faster.

In just a few steps, he caught up to the goblin that had thrown the spear, stabbing his rapier straight through its heart.

You tried to ambush me and run?

"Fourth one."

Then he drew the Bone Staff from his waist with his left hand and aimed it at the last goblin in the distance.

A blue orb rapidly condensed.

"Vzzzz—!"

The blue orb shot out like a streak of light again.

It slammed into the back of the fleeing goblin.

The heavy attack crushed its body and pinned it firmly to the ground, thick blood continuously flowing from the wound.

"Fifth one."

Leaning against the tree root, Hunter Randell was completely stunned.

This young man’s power was incredible!

He had seen other strong fighters before, but none as effortless and graceful as this.

Every sword strike took the life of a goblin.

One step, one kill, without any wasted motion.

His movements were clean and swift, like slaughtering a flock of chicks.

"Are you okay?" The young man approached the injured middle-aged man, his jade-green eyes glancing at the blood-soaked bandages.

The newcomer was Gauss.

"I’m... fine!" Hunter Randell opened his pale lips. "Thank you for your help!"

With everything settled, Randell’s heart was filled with relief and gratitude toward the handsome young man before him.

To him, the young man who saved his life and the future of his daughter Taylor was nothing less than an angel.

Only after enduring an hour or two of torment and despair could one truly appreciate how lucky survival was.

"I’ll help you treat your wound simply first."

Gauss examined the man’s injury and spoke.

He took out bandages, hemostatic powder, and other basic medical supplies.

Though he hadn’t needed to use these items so far, he always carried them when going out.

Maybe nine times out of ten he wouldn’t need them, but he had to be prepared for the tenth time.

And now was just that time.

Gauss quickly treated the wound, then carried the man on his back, steadily heading toward the village.

"Don’t fall asleep, hold on a bit longer."

"Okay, thank you," Randell gritted his teeth. "Do you know the way?"

He worried the other was unfamiliar with the area and might get lost in the forest at night.

"Don’t worry, I came from your village," Gauss reassured him.

This time, he had accepted a temporary commission from the villagers to search for goblins and simultaneously look for the hunter who had not returned from the forest.

Fortunately, he arrived just in time, and both tasks overlapped.

He saved a person, earned money, and killed goblins all at once—a perfect triple win.

As for the way back, he checked the map in his mind, which clearly showed the direction.

He could walk with his eyes closed and not get lost.
