Chapter 453: Chapter 451 Long Time No See

Heiside State, Etolia.

Pei Guode Hotel, 1:30 PM.

A black SUV stopped at the corner, and Helena Mina rolled down the window. She gazed at the black hotel building in front of her, overcome with a flood of emotions.

The sun had just passed the hotel’s spire, and at the entrance, luxury sedans were constantly pulling up slowly and then departing just as leisurely.

Those entering or leaving the hotel were either rich or noble. In Etolia, the mere mention of Pei Guode Hotel would cause many to give just a hint of a mysterious smile.

The common people would say it was a haven for corrupt officials, war profiteers, smugglers, and other demons of society. The wealthy would boast about being able to book a room there anytime and anywhere.

But for the true devils among men, Pei Guode was a promise, a blessed land that turned a blind eye to human laws. It seemed that inside the pitch-black building, all the moral bindings and legal controls of the human world lost their power. The police dared not investigate, the military dared not attack—it was the safest place on the planet.

Before coming here, Helena Mina had already obtained some information about this hotel, mainly rumors and local opinions.

Espionage departments from across the globe had collaborated, covertly investigating all guests who had stayed at Pei Guode. The list was now on Helena Mina’s phone. She quickly skimmed through some of it, unable to believe that Wei Tianyang would actually provide refuge for the scum of small countries’ exiled governments, warlords, drug traffickers, corrupt officials... and more.

Helena Mina pushed open the car door, and her two triune companions also got out.

She turned to them and said, "You two stay here."

The two men seemed troubled.

"Following me will give him the wrong impression," Helena Mina said.

The two triunes nodded and said, "Ms. Helen, if you run into trouble, please contact us immediately."

They returned to the car as Helena Mina walked alone into the foyer of the Pei Guode Hotel.

The African American door attendant respectfully pulled open the glass door. She stepped on the deep green carpet, and the chandeliers above were bright yellow, the unusual wall paint chosen was pitch black with decorative gold stripes along the edges. But upon closer inspection, one would realize these gold decorations were actual gold.

In the center of the hotel’s first-floor lobby stood a two-person-tall pure gold statue of David, gleaming brightly under the chandelier lights.

Everything here was the pinnacle of opulence. The attendants were all locals from Heiside, and Helena Mina suspected all the hotel’s employees were likely the finest graduates from national universities in Eltoya, as they were all clearly very well educated. The Eltoya people from the streets didn’t even come close in terms of temperament and appearance when compared to the hotel’s staff.

Helena Mina approached the reception where a young African American woman, barely into her twenties, was on duty. Her hair was neatly arranged at the back of her head, she wore a black uniform, and a gold hankerchief was tucked into her pocket. Her lips were dusted with gold, and as she smiled at Helena, there was an air of pride, elegance, and disdain for the masses about her.

"Do you have a reservation?" the receptionist asked.

"No," Helena Mina said.

"Then I’m afraid I can’t help you," the receptionist said with a smile.

"Can’t I just book a room?" Helena Mina asked.

"I’m very sorry, ma’am. Two years ago, we updated our reservation process. You need to call and book six months in advance. After you receive a call from us, you can come to the hotel to complete the check-in procedures," the receptionist explained.

"Actually...I’m not here to book a room," Helena Mina said.

"Then I can’t help you at all. The door is 26 meters behind you. Mind the steps," the receptionist said with a laugh.

"I’m here to see Wei Tianyang," Helena Mina said.

The receptionist laughed, "I don’t know the person you’re talking about."

As she spoke, the receptionist reached for the red button under the counter.

"He will see me," Helena Mina said.

"I don’t know what you’re talking about, but I’ve seen many people like you. They don’t end up in good situations," the receptionist said with a smile.

Helena Mina felt someone approaching her and turned to see a blond man smiling at her.

"Who are you?" Helena Mina asked.

"I am Rada Gan, the owner of the hotel," Rada Gan said with a smile.

He reached his hand out to Helena Mina, his eyes sparking with a golden glow.

Helena Mina hesitated for a moment before shaking hands with Rada Gan.

Rada Gan said with a smile, "We don’t have the person you’re looking to see here. I’ll mail you back, let’s hope they don’t sell you off."

Helena Mina felt her whole body bristle with anxiety as Rada Gan gripped her hand tightly, preparing to do something.

Just then, another hand grabbed Rada Gan’s arm.

Wei Tianyang said, "We’re not short of gold."

Rada Gan hurriedly released Helena Mina’s hand and bowed respectfully to Wei Tianyang, while the waitress inside the counter also changed her expression to one of sincere humility and bowed towards Wei Tianyang.

"Wei..." Helena Mina started to speak, but Wei Tianyang placed a finger on her lips.

"Don’t mention that name," Wei Tianyang said.

He extended his hand to Helena Mina, and she placed her hand on his.

Together, they walked to the elevator at the back and took his personal elevator straight to the top floor.

Once they entered his room, Helena Mina immediately saw Yaha holding Zhao Ling and a black sheep continuously jumping and shaking its butt at the television.

"My God... is that... the Emperor of Yin Country?" Helena Mina almost exclaimed.

"Would you like sugar?" Wei Tianyang asked.

"Thank you," Helena Mina said hastily.

Wei Tianyang’s index finger drew a circle in the air, and the coffee canister and grinder started working automatically.

A few minutes later, two cups of coffee were ready.

The cups floated to Helena Mina’s front, and she took hers nervously, her eyes full of concern as she looked towards Wei Tianyang.

At the moment, he stood by the bedside, listening to something outside the window.

Helena Mina didn’t want to disturb him, but Wei Tianyang took the initiative to ask.

"In what capacity have you come to me?" he asked.

"As a special advisor for the United Council," Helena Mina said.

"Have they started using you again?" Wei Tianyang said.

"They have no choice. Your reemergence after many years of silence has startled them," Helena Mina said.

"I don’t understand," Wei Tianyang said.

"I don’t understand either... it seems like you’ve changed over the years," Helena Mina said.

"The world has always been changing, yet some things remain unchanged," Wei Tianyang said.

"What’s most important is your change. Wei... you, why did you start offering protection to those drug traffickers? Also to exiled governments, smugglers, pharmaceutical company researchers... these people would never have had anything to do with you before," Helena Mina said.

"I haven’t offered protection, I haven’t made any promises. If they can afford it, they can stay, that’s all," Wei Tianyang said.

Helena Mina had expected Wei Tianyang to explain, but she was at a loss for words to his response.

"That’s what I don’t understand," Wei Tianyang said with a laugh.

Helena Mina looked at him, but didn’t speak.

"When they were on the battlefield, they never hesitated to kill unarmed civilians and children. Why can’t they dare to lift a finger now that this hotel is stuffed with a nest of poison?" Wei Tianyang asked with a smile.
