Chapter 215: Chapter 213: Can’t Escape

Midnight.

A middle-aged man was sleeping with his mistress.

The middle-aged man laughed and said, "The new shopping plaza above us just opened, bringing in several luxury duty-free stores from the Sethiyan Federation. How about we check them out one day?"

The woman lit up with joy and laughed, "Yes~ I’ve wanted a Chanel bag for a long time~"

At that moment, the smartphone on the nightstand suddenly rang.

The man answered the call, his face showing displeasure.

"Something happened over at Da Chang," said the man on the other end of the line.

"I know about that incident, let them handle it themselves! Just clean up the mess! It’s bloody midnight, and you’re calling me twice about this!"

It turned out that this man was in charge at the Lower City Security Bureau.

"No... Da Chang is dead," said the person on the phone, sounding anxious.

The official was stunned for a moment, leaning against the headboard with a thousand thoughts running through his head.

After a few seconds, he asked, "Was it Da Zhou or Sha Yang who did it?"

"Uh..." The official was somewhat annoyed.

"Should we let them handle it themselves, or should we file a case and issue a warrant?" the junior security officer asked.

"Issue a warrant! Definitely issue a warrant!" the official exclaimed angrily.

Meanwhile, at Huangqing Street.

A small hospital with only a four-story building stood at the corner of the street, its Western architectural style somewhat mismatched with the surrounding old lineage-style apartment buildings.

Wang Ye, wearing a hood, stood at the street corner, his left hand clutching a screwdriver, his right shoulder drooping, looking from afar like a hunched figure.

He slipped the screwdriver into his trouser pocket and walked unevenly towards the hospital, scooping up two small stones from the flower bed at the entrance and putting them in his pocket.

Wang Ye entered the hospital lobby on the first floor; the clock on the wall showed it was already 2 a.m.

In the night emergency area of the lobby, some people were sitting on benches receiving IV drips, while the duty nurse, bored, played with her phone behind the window.

Wang Ye approached the window, lowered his hood slightly, and asked the duty nurse in a low voice, "I need to ask something."

The duty nurse, without looking up from her phone, replied, "Go ahead."

"I’m looking for Yangyang," said Wang Ye.

"Third floor, ward 308," the nurse said, continuing her Candy Crush game.

Wang Ye left the window, glanced at the lobby, and found the staircase leading upstairs.

Thus, he followed the stairs all the way to the third floor, stopping at the entrance to the corridor; he leaned against the wall and surveyed both ends.

The ward was on the right side of the corridor. A young man sat at the door, engrossed in his phone.

He pulled out the previously prepared stones and, while walking towards the young man, threw the stones towards the end of the corridor.

The stones made an irritating noise in the quiet corridor, causing the young man to instinctively turn his head towards the sound.

The next second, Wang Ye struck from behind, gripping the screwdriver backhanded, and plunged it into the young man’s eye socket, piercing right through the eye deep into the brain—this blow was instantly fatal.

Wang Ye pulled out the screwdriver, searched the young man’s belongings, and found a switchblade.

He ditched the screwdriver, flicked open the switchblade, approached the door, and peeked inside through a sliver of an opening. He saw Yangyang, his head and arms wrapped up like a rice dumpling, not only hooked up to an IV but also wearing a breathing mask.

Wang Ye pushed the door open, closed it behind him, walked up to the bed, and stared at the sleeping Yangyang, expressionless.

He sighed, pressed his left thumb on the wounded spot on Yangyang’s head, waking him up.

"Ah... Damn..." Yangyang opened his eyes, about to curse, but gasped when he saw Wang Ye standing in front of his bed.

"I didn’t kill you before, now I’m here to finish the job, just thought I should notify you in case you didn’t know," said Wang Ye calmly.

"There’s no need for violence, we can talk this out..." Yangyang feigned composure.

Wang Ye wasted no time, pulling out a switchblade with his left hand and, in the blink of an eye, stabbing it into Yangyang’s throat. He drove the knife in normally, then switched to a backhand grip and forcefully slit Yangyang’s throat, slicing his windpipe open.

Yangyang’s eyes bulged wide, his mouth agape in pain and fear.

Wang Ye stopped there, seeing the severed windpipe and guessing Yangyang wouldn’t survive much longer, probably could only hold his breath for about 30 more seconds.

He folded the switchblade, pocketed it, and turned to leave. As he pushed open the door, he bumped straight into a man about 6’2" and chubby.

Looking up, he saw the chubby man with a dark expression grab him by the neck and violently throw him against the corridor wall.

Wang Ye got his bearings just in time to get kicked two meters away by another tall, skinny man.

"Fuck, they found this place! This little fucker! How’s Yangyang?" the skinny man asked.

"Dead," replied the chubby man with a dark face, coldly.

"Son of a bitch!" cursed the skinny man.

He walked over to Wang Ye and kicked him in the abdomen, sending him flying another meter.

Wang Ye skidded along the ground, vomiting bile as his stomach felt like it was about to explode, his abdomen painfully cramping.

The skinny man lifted him from the ground, but as Wang Ye looked up, he saw the chubby man gripping him and punching him repeatedly in the abdomen until he curled up like a shrimp and threw up some more.

The skinny man held his hands behind his back, watching cruelly as the chubby man approached.

"You little bitch, can’t kill you, huh?" the chubby man growled, pulling out a switchblade, lifting Wang Ye’s shirt slightly to reveal his bruised and reddened abdomen.

He held the blade halfway and jabbed the other half into Wang Ye’s liver a total of six times, causing blood to pour out rapidly.

Wang Ye shook violently from the pain, his vision blurred and his body ice cold.

The skinny man continued to hold him, saying, "Stab the stomach, the stomach."

Just as the chubby man was about to proceed, hospital security and nurses rushed up, alarmed by the pool of blood, and shouted loudly, "What are you doing! We’ve called the police!!"

The skinny man scowled, preparing to drag Wang Ye out, but the security stopped them, saying, "What are you doing! Let him go! Now!"

"It’s none of your business! Do you know who controls this area?!" the chubby man yelled angrily.

"I don’t care who controls it, wait for the security officers!" retorted the security.

Right after that, the chubby man slit the throat of one of the security guards and, along with the skinny man, tried to force their way out of the hospital with Wang Ye.

The nurse screamed in terror, and seeing the assailants attack, the remaining two security guards, overwhelmed by adrenaline, grabbed rubber batons and instinctively charged.

The skinny man threw Wang Ye aside to free his hands for the fight, as the four wrestled together.

Wang Ye pulled out his switchblade, knelt on the ground, and gritted his teeth.

But the two security guards couldn’t overcome the chubby man and got stabbed, one falling to the ground, motionless.

The skinny man kicked a security guard away, turned to look for Wang Ye, but suddenly, Wang Ye lunged forward, swinging his hand, and the world went dark for him.

"Ah!!! My eyes!!! Fucking hell!!!" screamed the skinny man, covering his face. He stumbled and rolled down the stairs.

The chubby man stabbed another security guard in the chest, knocking him to the ground. Hearing the skinny man’s scream, he hurried over, only to see the nurse shouting next to him. Annoyed, he pushed her down the stairs as well.

He turned back to see Wang Ye and lunged ferociously at him.

Knowing he was no match, Wang Ye ducked under the chubby man’s hold and, leaping from the handrail, dropped to the second-floor landing, his body shivering as blood spilled from his wounds. He groaned in pain, crawling on the staircase, his body trembling constantly.

Using the last of his strength, he got up and ran downstairs, reaching the ground floor lobby. Glancing back at the stairwell, he left a trail of blood behind him.

He crashed through the glass doors and ran out to the street, where the cold night air hit him. His legs gave way, and he staggered, collapsing to the ground to lie facing the sky, only seeing the night sky above the great balustrade with a jet blinking across it.

At that moment, the footsteps of the chubby man drew closer.
