Chapter 985: Chapter 985: A Direct Hit to the Soul, Nowhere to Hide

Xiao Pang won the competition, causing an upset.

The coaches and family and friends in the stands were ecstatic.

Languages from various countries intertwined with each other.

Those that Xiao Pang’s dad could understand were all cheering and celebrating, delighted at the birth of a young chess king, feeling the joy of witnessing a miracle; these were fellow countrymen.

Yu Jingting could comprehend people who were using English to communicate, musing over how times change, as do the people; these were the neutral media.

But the words Suizi could understand weren’t quite pleasant.

Suizi knew several languages, a skill she had mastered in her previous life and hadn’t used often in this one.

Every time she did use them, it was on the cutting edge, and this time was no exception.

Some were using aggrieved tones to speak of the competition’s unfairness, these were people from the same place as the opponent.

"This match was simply unfair. Our chess king was not acclimated and felt unwell, he even had a high fever yesterday and competed sick. How could he perform at his normal level?"

"Exactly, the timers they used were made in their own country, right? Can the quality be trusted?"

"Even if there is nothing wrong with the timers, what if our seniors were at their physical prime years ago, how could they lose to this detestable kid?"

Suizi initially didn’t want to interject, but as their voices grew louder and began to question the fairness of the game timers, she finally couldn’t hold back.

"Ladies and gentlemen, please preserve some dignity for yourselves and show respect to your predecessors," she said.

These words came out in the language of those she was addressing.

Crisp and clear, with forceful impact, the other side fell silent immediately.

Xiao Pang’s dad was completely confused and asked Yu Jingting.

"Jingting, what’s your wife muttering about?"

"They were being assholes, and my wife was giving it back to them."

"You could hear their conversation as well?"

"No need to understand to get the gist. Those people, short of tattooing ’arrogance’ on their foreheads, have mouths like assholes, just spewing shit. I may not get the language, but crap is universal."

Yu Jingting couldn’t say he was entirely ignorant.

When he began learning foreign languages, Suizi had written down curse words from various countries for him in Chinese.

Knowing how to say ’hello’ wasn’t important, but being able to understand when someone was cursing at him was crucial.

Those folks just now not only looked arrogantly smug, but there were also several curse words in their conversation. Yu Jingting just didn’t know who they were cursing.

Seeing Suizi’s eyes growing colder and her fists tightening, he knew their words must have been directed at someone on their side, causing his wife discomfort.

Before Yu Jingting had time to work out how to deal with the situation, Suizi had rolled up her sleeves and stepped forward herself.

The other side didn’t expect that someone would understand their language as they cursed and swore; hadn’t this country just opened up not too many years ago? How could this young lady understand?

Today, Suizi was dressed in the same neutral leather jacket as Yu Jingting, stepping in a pair of Dr. Martens boots.

Her androgynously stylish outfit diminished her usual gentle aura, making her words carry even more weight.

After only a moment of silence, someone stood up and challenged Suizi with a questioning tone:

"What country are you from?"

Suizi’s attire was trendy and bright, not in line with such aesthetics. Could it be wishful thinking on their part, hoping that she might be from somewhere else?

Suizi stood up straight, her voice clear and strong.

"I am a true daughter of China, a descendant of the Yan and Huang Emperors. I feel sad for the words you just spoke, and I believe your forebears would feel ashamed for you. It should be a case of heroes admiring heroes, of meeting one’s match in a game of chess. How is it that in your mouths, it has turned into despicable competition where you stoop to any means to achieve your ends?"

With that string of words piercing their hearts, those people were filled with shame and found no place to hide their faces.

Jiaojiao felt that at that moment, her sister-in-law carried the air of a warrior woman, a pity she couldn’t understand her, and could only pin her hopes on her brother.

"Brother, can you understand a word or two?"

"Your sister-in-law is saying these people are all idiots."

With that long speech of Suizi’s, Yu Jingting condensed it succinctly into a single sentence—

Was there a need to understand? Suizi’s expression alone could be summarized with an internationally recognized gesture.

It’s that hand gesture, the one with a clenched fist and the middle finger raised, those who know, understand.

"What I see is that with each generation comes new guardians of this land, successors to the legacy of chess kings one after another. What I foresee is that, ultimately, a new generation will take over this symbol of the chess spirit’s glory and carry it forward, an eternal lineage!

And yet, these proud traditions which should be passed down are being ensnared by your narrow-mindedness!

You constantly invoke your forebears, but do you merely pay lip service to respecting your ancestors? How much of their spirit do you really understand?"

Suizi’s lengthy monologue initially met with resistance on their faces, but as she quickened her pace and deepened her tone, those faces, to her surprise, all betrayed expressions of shame.

Her speech had completely convinced the people opposite her.

Although Jiaojiao couldn’t understand a single word, judging by her sister-in-law’s commanding presence, she wished she could applaud enthusiastically.

Yu Jingting immediately seized the opportunity to educate the children beside him.

"See that? Learn from your mother, your sister, your sister-in-law! She might be quiet on normal days because she’s simply too lazy to talk, but when it’s time to call someone out, she’s never once backed down!"

Led by Chen Tong and arranged by height, the group of kids all nodded their heads, filled with reverence.

After all, if Mrs. Chen Hansui spoke up, average people truly were no match for her, as everyone in the family had experienced her "homeroom teacher’s glare."

It wasn’t until those people had bowed and apologized that Suizi, leading her family, made a grand exit from the scene.

Her head never bowed; she walked with pride and her chest held high.

"Sister-in-law, why were they convinced by you?" Upon exiting, Jiaojiao voiced everyone’s question.

"Arguing isn’t my strong suit, but when it comes to reasoning, I can hold my own. I just used what they believe in to break down their fallacies, which is far more effective than fighting back with our own beliefs."

The philosophy of Confucianism originated in China and spread to the Sinographic sphere of East Asia, where it formed distinct characteristics due to the different customs and practices of each country.

China values benevolence, but Suizi didn’t choose to express her points from the perspective of "benevolence." Instead, she used the angle of "filial piety," which the opponents held dear.

"Loyalty, filial piety, propriety, and righteousness— they place great importance on filial piety, maintaining a strict hierarchy where the younger generation must not surpass their elders and must use respectful language when speaking."

This was also why they were unwilling to accept their elder losing to such a young and plump boy.

"But after all, Go is a high-level intellectual competition. If that old man were decades younger, my son might not have won..." The plump boy’s father felt that his son’s victory today involved some luck.

"Time and fortune are hypotheticals that can’t be assumed. What happens, happens. Wins should be enjoyed wholeheartedly, losses accepted gracefully. Can you sit back down on the shit after you’re done crapping?" Yu Jingting declared impatiently.

Suizi smiled and nodded her head; her husband was right, except for the last part, tsk.
