I am chasing a rough man in the 80s
Chapter 23: Case Solved

Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Case Solved

"The teacher said that with my abilities, I’m most suited to inherit my mother’s profession as a shaman."

"Nonsense!" Suizi was angry.

As a role model, he really should not.

"Isn’t it true? My mother is so great, she could raise both me and my brother by herself."

In the child’s eyes, a decent job is just about filling the stomach, little did she know that this comment, coming from a teacher, was demeaning.

"Your mother is indeed great, and we should take good care of her in the future. But I think she would rather you study hard and go to university."

"What good is studying? I want to be a shaman! What good is your academic excellence if you still ended up marrying my brother?"

Jiaojiao stubbornly held on to her dreams and gave Suizi another blow.

That night, after listening to Suizi’s bedtime story, Jiaojiao fell asleep in her sister-in-law’s warm embrace.

She verbally resisted Suizi, but her body was honest, even in her sleep she had to hug Suizi. This habit was similar to her brother’s.

"Mother, are you still awake?"

"What is it?" Wang Cuihua was still engrossed in the Little Mermaid story that her daughter-in-law had been telling. She despised the witch for being so evil.

She didn’t help the community with their problems at all, but instead, she demanded high prices. Really evil.

"Jiaojiao told me that she wants to drop out of school and become a shaman."

Wang Cuihua sat up abruptly as if she’d been resurrected from the dead, wanting to wake up Jiaojiao and give her a beating.

"Don’t get angry. It’s normal for a child of this age to have some wild ideas. Can I teach her?"

"That’s great, I don’t expect this girl to be like you and go to a technical secondary school, at least finish junior high school..."

"Junior high school is definitely not enough, she should aim to go to university in the future."

Nowadays, graduating from a technical secondary school can be valuable, but in a few years, it won’t be recognized. Only a university degree would be useful.

"Her? Huh!"

"I have a way to guide her, but there’s one thing I want to discuss with you."

Yu Jingting was lying alone in the West Room, his ears pricked up high, but couldn’t hear clearly what the mother and daughter were whispering about.

Finally, when the noise in the room subsided, Yu Jingting grinned mischievously. He wanted to go and bring his wife back to bed, but just as he sat up, the door opened.

Suizi came over in the dark, and as soon as she stepped in front of the bed, she was embraced by Yu Jingting, who was lying in wait. His strength was great, and he pressed Suizi directly onto the bed.

"I knew you’d miss me!" he said with a triumphant smile.

Suizi suppressed the urge to roll her eyes. Where did this guy get his confidence from?

"I came to discuss something."

"Why do you want to talk at this late hour instead of sleeping?"

Here, ’sleeping’ obviously referred to something more than just rest.

Yu Jingting felt that this woman talked too much, so he opted for a more direct approach and sealed her mouth with a kiss.

"About Li Youcai."

"Damn it!" Yu Jingting’s mood instantly plummeted.

Suizi leaned over and whispered in his ear.

"Is it true? He’d rather run to our house in the middle of the night than sleep?" Yu Jingting didn’t believe her.

"My mom made a calculation for him and said that his disaster star is in the west. He needs to come here and burn paper to resolve it. Our house just happens to be in the west".

Wang Cuihua told Li Youcai to bring some paper to burn in the west at dawn, and his bad luck would naturally dissipate.

This kind of statement is commonly used not only by Wang Cuihua but also by other shamans in different places.

In Suizi’s view, the claims these people used were just like provided answers in fill-in-the-blank questions—just change one keyword and you can deceive many people.

Suizi spent the whole day pretending to be a shaman, rallying the community to scare Li Youcai, and hinted to Wang Cuihua to bring up that the cause of his disaster was in the west.

"We are the third house from the west. There are two houses before us. How do you know he would burn the paper outside our wall?" Yu Jingting didn’t believe it.

"I’m just betting that he’s guilty."

If Li Youcai comes from the same background as she does, then he will definitely be uneasy about the western wall of the Yu Family house. She has created such an atmosphere to scare Li Youcai, just to see if he will come to this wall to burn paper.

If Li Youcai really comes, then he must have been reborn.

In this life, he doesn’t have any associations with this wall. Besides, there two others houses before this one, and he doesn’t need to take the risk to come here.

This is called having a guilty conscience.

Yu Jingting didn’t think that Li Youcai would come.

After having beaten Li Youcai so terribly during the day, given Li Youcai’s character, he would aim to avoid Yu Jingting’s house. How could he rush over here on his own accord?

"How about we make a bet? I bet that he will bypass our house. If I win, you must...hehehe," he laughed slyly.

He was getting annoyed these two days, especially since his mother was watching so closely, and Suizi only allowed him to go so far. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, if he didn’t take advantage of it, it would be strange.

"Alright, if I win, you’ll have to do something for me." Suizi readily agreed.

Yu Jingting felt he was surely going to win. His hand rested on the waistband of his pants and he began flicking the rubber band back and forth, wishing he could taste the fruits of victory right then.

Wasn’t this victory assured?

Suizi kicked off her shoes and climbed onto the bed, pulling him to sit with her at the edge of the bed and looking out the window after lifting a corner of the curtain.

The night was pitch black, all the houses had turned off their lights, and nothing could be seen.

Yu Jingting leaned over to Suizi’s ear, nibbled on her delicate earlobe and whispered sweet nothings, his hand wasn’t idle either.

"Just say it straight out, you’re so hot for your man that you can’t stand it anymore, and deliberately found an excuse to present yourself, right? You cultured people sure know how to play..." After saying this, he licked the corner of his mouth with ill intentions, he loved this proactive little girl.

Suizi’s ears were numb from his biting. This guy was like a large-sized sticky candy, sticking to her and not letting go.

She wasn’t sure when Li Youcai would show up, but she was worried that his hippocampus would be replaced by his sponge body if he kept listening to his heavy breathing. Suizi quickly found something else to talk about to distract him.

"Why don’t you call yourself Yu Tiegen anymore?"

All the boys in the old Yu family’s generation had the character ’tie’ (iron) in their names. When he was in primary school, he was still called Tiegen. But when he started junior high school, he suddenly changed it to the more cultured and unusual ’Jingting’.

"Haha, I thought you’ll never gonna ask." Didn’t she just fall into his trap?

Yu Jingting put down the hand that was molesting her and propped up his head a little proudly.

"Don’t you know? My name comes from a poem by Li Bai, ’To sit and watch the rising clouds, and never tire of a million turns’, it expresses my unappreciated but extremely determined character." The man who never passed his Chinese subject in school, the only poem he could recite in his life was this one.

He was holding his breath, waiting for her to ask. Finally, he found the opportunity.

"Who taught you that?" Is there someone so literary in this village?

More importantly, what talents does he, a street bully, have that are not appreciated?

Under the moonlight seeping from the window, Yu Jingting saw skepticism written all over her clear pupils. He had planned to boast and play the part of a cultured person, but Suizi suddenly remembered something.

"My collection of 300 Tang poems, you stole it! You even tore this page out!!!!!"

The case was closed. Here was the thief--no, here was the culprit who’d torn her book!

Her mother had been a ’sent-down youth’ and had given Suizi quality education from a young age. Suizi had a copy of ’300 Tang Poems’ and was supposed to recite one poem from it every day.

One day, the book mysteriously disappeared, only to reappear with this page torn out.

Suizi had just reached this particular poem and was secretly upset for a long time. It turns out it was him!

"If I didn’t tear it out, how could I change my household registration? I couldn’t remember how to write these two words, it had so many strokes....what’s with that look in your eyes?! I changed my name for you— damn it!"

This little woman was poisonous, always coaxing him to reveal his deepest secrets!

"For me? I don’t remember that." Suizi was about to ask further, when suddenly, the dog in the courtyard started to bark.

He’s here.
