Chapter 605: 599, Unknown Phone Call (Second Update)_1
The business car didn’t drive long within the Capital’s city limits before stopping in front of a private villa with its own entrance. Ren He sat in the car, unmoved until Jiang Wensheng’s men respectfully opened the door for him. Then he leisurely stepped out and led the way into the villa’s courtyard, with his silent followers behind him, looking less like Jiang Wensheng’s men and more like Ren He’s own bodyguards...
The individuals following behind felt somewhat humiliated just thinking about it. However, they dared not take action against the aggressive strikes of their adversary. Before leaving, Jiang Wensheng had specifically instructed them to just put on a show, to intimidate the other party, and absolutely not to engage physically.
At first, everyone thought that with so many of them, scaring a youngster would be a piece of cake. Instead, they encountered this mess of a situation.
To speak of intimidating the other side, these people themselves turned timid, okay?
They had known before departure that this young man was the now thriving big boss of Qinghe, and at first approached the situation with contempt. Now, everyone finally understood that his success was not by chance—just look at that aura, which was already beyond what ordinary people could compare to.
Among them were some from martial arts schools in Hong Kong, where many had their own sects. Usually, they didn’t even have to exert themselves against ordinary folks, as there’s simply no comparison to those who have trained. Arranged by their sects to come north and earn a living with Jiang Wensheng, they sometimes got to do some action filming, and although their skills had weakened, they felt that even the elders in their sects might not possess an aura like Ren He’s.
Ren He also had some understanding of this Jiang Wensheng. Perhaps others might fear these southerners skilled in martial arts, but it was very difficult for Ren He to foster any sense of awe.
In his previous life, he quite enjoyed movies like "Ip Man" and "The Grandmaster," but reality is reality; he himself couldn’t even scamper over walls yet, let alone others.
When Ren He entered the villa, he was startled to find Jiang Wensheng already waiting at the door with a gentleman’s cane, smiling broadly.
However, when he saw Ren He walking in first with his own people trailing behind dispirited, the expression on his face changed. This scene didn’t look at all like Ren He had been intimidated; rather, it seemed like his own men had lost face...
"Jiang Wensheng?" Ren He glanced at him and didn’t bother with further pleasantries, simply walking past him as though no one else was there.
The muscles on Jiang Wensheng’s face twitched; it had been many years since anyone had called him by his full name so brazenly. Here a 17-year-old kid was showing him utter disregard, which was akin to humiliating him.
But when it came down to actually ordering a beating for Ren He as a lesson, he hesitated. Ren He was no small fry like Chen Da. Despite maintaining a gang that might look imposing, Jiang Wensheng knew there were limits in this orderly society.
If he were to cross that line, what would he, Jiang Wensheng, amount to?
He had investigated Ren He’s background as well; his father was the governor of Luo City, his mother, the chairman of Luohe Group. However, they had no power in the Capital, and Jiang Wensheng felt he still had room to negotiate with this outsider who barged into the entertainment industry. His confidence arose from the time spent in the Capital; outsiders were deemed easy to bully. Everyone says you can swing a stick in the Capital and hit eight directors; Jiang Wensheng knew more than eight, and though he couldn’t reach a ministerial level, he did have contacts at the department and bureau level.
Although he had been humbled before and failed to get "Crazy Stone" banned, no one had warned him, no one said the Qinghe Group was untouchable. He had thought that Qinghe had paid off Director Zhang. Little did he know, Director Zhang hadn’t dared to accept a penny from Qinghe. Instead, he had been eager to invite someone from Qinghe to dinner, along with Ren He in tow.
Jiang Wensheng felt that his status was already high enough, yet after spending most of his life in the entertainment industry, used to having unopposed control, he never considered the principle that there’s always someone higher up.
Did he think that those out of his reach were also out of Ren He’s reach? The bridges he had crossed might even be more than the roads Ren He had walked!
Sitting on the sofa opposite Ren He with a sullen face, Ren He cheerfully looked at him and said, "What have you invited me here for? Those useless people under you don’t need to come out and embarrass themselves. Is there a legendary martial arts master to show me?"
Ren He was joking, amused at the thought of sickening this fellow. By this time, the player who had been slapped unconscious by Ren He had already woken up. Just as he entered the room and Jiang Wensheng saw the swelling on half of his face, he felt somewhat breathless. His own people had been hit! He himself didn’t dare to order the beating of others, yet the other party had hit his own men first!
"Don’t be hasty," Ren He said cheerfully. "Perhaps you’re not quite aware that right now, truly, it’s only me who has the privilege to hit you. Tell me, what are you planning to watch?"
Jiang Wensheng sneered, believing that Ren He was naïvely unafraid of the powerful. What did he mean by ’only me who has the privilege to hit you’? Fine, let’s talk business first and if we don’t agree, then we can settle it with our people. You might have bought off a Director Zhang, but can you buy everyone?
"I’m prepared to exchange 5% of Hua Ge Media’s shares for 30% of Qinghe Film and Television’s shares. What do you think?" Jiang Wensheng asked coldly.
Hua Ge? Ren He paused for a second. So Hua Ge belonged to Jiang Wensheng. When he brought Yang Xi to Capital to challenge others, Hua Ge had also approached Yang Xi. The guy who came to them back then... it seems he had used ’Tear Potion’ on him...
Jiang Wensheng sneered as he watched Ren He’s changing expressions. Hua Ge wasn’t his alone; the interests hidden within it were connected to many big shots, both in power and not, all influential people. The better Hua Ge did, the more their interest group would benefit. In the entertainment circle, Jiang Wensheng’s unopposed control was not solely on his own; his strongest support came from the interest group behind him, filled with characters who would devour others without spitting out the bones.
So, despite Ren He’s apparent fearlessness, as soon as his interest group behind the scenes coveted Qinghe Film and Television’s juicy piece, they would surely support him.
By then, Ren He would have to face something he, as a young upstart, could probably not even comprehend.
"5% in exchange for my 30%," Ren He found it a bit funny. "You sure think highly of yourself. No deal. Anything else?"
Ren He had no intention of being low-key that evening. After painstakingly selecting a big tree for support, how could he not make use of it? Although Beidou Military Industry’s acquisition of shares in Qinghe seemed very fair and reasonable, only Ren He knew what kind of future Qinghe truly had.
In the long run, it was Ren He who was at a loss!
So now that Ren He had committed to a loss by tying everyone to the same boat, it was about time to stop thinking about only making money without putting in any effort.
Just then, a phone rang in the villa. A 30-year-old man beside him handed the phone to Jiang Wensheng. Jiang’s face drastically changed after listening to just the first sentence, and Ren He could even hear the roar from the other end of the line: "Who allowed you to make decisions on your own? Nonsense!"
