Chapter 559: 553. Three Guns, Four Lives (Second Update)_1
Ren He was waiting for this moment, he knew very well who he was dealing with.
Not Allen in the room, nor the assassins coveting Allen’s wealth, but the CIA outside the door.
From his angle, all he could see was the person on the fourth floor, but this one person was not enough to satisfy Ren He’s appetite.
He had to let the CIA’s men rush in so he could see them, and then he could lock onto their lives with his sniper rifle.
If Mark Pen and his team thought they had the game in hand with a pincer move, then let’s not disturb his sweet dream just yet.
And the moment they rushed in, Ren He would deliver the deadliest blow.
Now was the time!
With a bang, the bullet roared through the rainy night like thunder, spinning wildly!
In autumn, thunder sounds less often and is weaker, because it doesn’t have strong convectional weather like summer.
When the air is extremely unstable, it can cause intense upwards convection, forming towering cumulonimbus clouds. With water vapor racing up and down inside these clouds, static electricity occurs. Positive charges build up at the top of the cloud, negative charges at the bottom, and the ground is positively charged. When the voltage difference between the positive and negative charges becomes strong enough to break through the insulating air, the rapid expansion and explosion of air occur, heating and lighting up, creating lightning, while the explosion produces the loud sound of thunder.
And now, this large caliber armor-piercing bullet was like that bolt of lightning, breaking through all insulation!
It seemed as if the scene stood still, and time appeared to stop in Ren He’s eyes. The person from the fourth floor had just landed on the balcony, and the CIA’s tactical team began breaching the door.
The assassins started shooting, completely unprepared to be caught in a crossfire, some in panic!
It was like a farcical stage play, where everyone was a part, yet totally disconnected.
At that moment, a bullet from the sky entered the scene, piercing the body of the operative who had jumped from the fourth floor, then lodged into the floor of the room.
A plume of blood mist exploded from his body. The entry wound caused by the bullet was actually not that large, but as it spun violently inside the body, it tore open an unimaginably huge exit wound, and all his organs were shattered!
The assassins and Allen quickly became enveloped in the mist of blood, their faces reddening, a true blood color.
Allen couldn’t help but feel the urge to vomit, while Mark Pen and the others who had just broken into the room had their pupils shrink to the extreme!
"Sniper! Retreat! Retreat!" Mark Pen roared. He didn’t even have time to locate the sniper because he knew they were definitely within the sniper’s shooting range and field of view!
Sniper! This role, domesticated in civilian games, yet feared on the battlefield, appeared today!
In past lives, all shooting games featured sniper rifles, which many people understood to mean: massive killing power.
Many do not realize the dominion a sniper can exercise on an infantry battlefield!
But Mark Pen knew, he had encountered snipers more than once in the Middle East!
He just couldn’t understand how these assassins could still deploy a sniper. Was a hacker like Allen worth deploying a sniper for?
Or perhaps, was this an ambush meant for him from the start?
No wonder Mark Pen was overthinking; indeed, it looked too much like a trap set by an organization, luring a hacker to guide the target toward the problematic Allen and then capture his group in one fell swoop.
This was one of the reasons Ren He had come to the building across the street. As a chess piece outside of the game, once he started a killing spree, who could be sure which faction he truly belonged to?
The opponent didn’t even know who he was, nor would they know why he was ambushing the CIA!
Bang! Another thunderous shot was fired!
This time, Ren He aimed at Mark Pen!
However, to Ren He’s surprise, the very moment he pulled the trigger, Mark Pen swiftly dropped to the ground, taking evasive action and then crawling rapidly towards the door, with a speed that was breathtaking.
No wonder Steve’s information had described this man as terrifyingly powerful.
Such a shot, and yet he had dodged it, this was the first time Ren He had missed with a sniper rifle! His face turned solemn, acknowledging the presence of a top predator in the food chain.
No, it wasn’t a complete miss. Ren He’s bullet, spinning as it tore through the air, penetrated the chest of one of Mark Pen’s teammates behind him, went through and out, and then shot off the leg of another person behind that teammate!
Bang! Ren He fired the third shot without hesitation, still targeting Mark Pen!
This man had become so formidable that Ren He felt wary, and in his list of priorities, the target was ranked first!
In the instant he fired, Mark Pen felt as if he was being targeted by a wild beast, a sense of piercing danger all over his back, as though he could meet his end at any moment!
At this point, his legs had already propelled him into the air, but the sense of danger hadn’t dissipated!
Mark Pen felt he had never encountered such a perilous situation or opponent, not even in the Middle East for many years, had he ever seen a sniper who could exert such immense pressure on him!
The opponent was a true master of sniping. Mark Pen had a moment of realization, feeling that he was probably about to die, just never expected to die in this place.
In his final thoughts, what he most wanted to know was actually who the sniper was—in his life, such an adversary had been rare.
Thud! Just at that moment, the last teammate who had followed him in used his body to bump him out of the doorway, and then a burst of blood mist appeared!
If it hadn’t been for this teammate’s sacrificial rescue, it would certainly have been Mark Pen himself who died, he knew this all too well!
"Retreat, retreat, it’s a trap! Everyone evacuate on your own, meet at the safe house!" Mark Pen roared into the earpiece as he ran towards the stairs, not looking back.
The four teammates who had joined him on this mission were all dead, without any doubt.
What he needed to do now was to escape this dangerous place. As long as that sniper was out there, he had to stay hidden in the shadows.
Ren He frowned as he quickly packed up his cello case, disassembling the sniper rifle into parts in a short amount of time.
He hadn’t expected Mark Pen to be rescued at the risk of someone else’s life; he had thought Americans never sacrificed themselves for others, but it seemed he was wrong.
Indeed they were the most elite team, having someone escape after his careful ambush.
Now it was time to leave quickly himself—who knew how many more people the CIA had in the Netherlands?
If the opponent stayed and still wanted to capture him, then let them have a few more rounds of confrontation.
But what Ren He didn’t know as he turned and left the room was that Mark Pen didn’t just want to capture him; he also considered him to be the most formidable enemy he had ever faced in his life.
