Chapter 482: 476, Return to the Homeland! (Second Update)_1

Ren He followed the tips Lin Hao gave him to go through airport security, and sure enough, as Lin Hao had arranged, someone took care of his boarding process immediately after he whispered his name: a brand-new passport, a brand-new ticket, and the name on the passport wasn’t Ren He. It seemed that all of this was orchestrated by Lin Hao and his efficiency was remarkably high.

It had only been three hours since Ren He had called Lin Hao, and yet the other party had managed to produce a whole set of documents in such a short time, suggesting that people had been anything but idle during peacetime.

In fact, it ought to be so. While ordinary people enjoyed a peaceful life, countless others struggled for that tranquility.

Twenty-six days after the shootout in downtown New York, Ren He finally took the plane back to China quietly.

In the United States, he had good memories, such as spending days and nights with Yang Xi, eloping with her, making music albums together, and freehand rock climbing witnessed by her.

But there were also bad memories, like the bloody night of killing.

To someone like Lin Hao, such battles might seem thrilling, but for Ren He, it was a desperate fight to carve a path through a bloody siege.

Returning to China was like a milestone. In Ren He’s heart, it seemed that as long as he returned home, he would be an ordinary person again, able to forget the slaughter that had happened.

He yearned for a quiet life immensely.

After calling Mrs. Ren, he turned off his phone. The large aircraft from China International Airlines he boarded was mostly filled with Chinese tourists on their way back home, apparently a travel group. Ren He listened to the passengers’ conversations and realized that this was a group of wealthy tourists.

Ren He was puzzled, wondering what thrill wealthy people found in visiting Jamaica. In his impression, Jamaica was a chaotic country, one he certainly wouldn’t have chosen for a holiday because of the danger. It took a while to understand that Kingston, the capital of Jamaica, was actually a resort for rest and healing.

Ren He kept a low profile on the plane. Sitting next to him was a middle-aged couple with a young and beautiful girl. Ren He had no intention of interacting with anyone; the only thing on his mind was returning to China.

When mealtime arrived, all the passengers took out their prepared food, complaining about the stinginess of China International Airlines and the poor quality of their meals, while Ren He was the only one who pressed the service button, causing a pretty flight attendant to bring him a standard airplane meal.

He truly didn’t have time to prepare any food, and back in the sewers, he survived on remnants of bread stolen from a bakery in the dead of night, eaten amidst foul odors. Now that he could eat proper food, he felt it was already quite a treat.

On the cruise ship, Ren He only had western meals. Now on the airplane, he finally got to eat Chinese cuisine, and it was his favorite fish-fragrant shredded pork with rice. He was so moved that he almost cried, something that others would hardly understand—the emotional longing for his hometown after all the adversities he had been through.

To him, fish-fragrant shredded pork was like an early glimpse of his hometown.

The surrounding tourists noticed Ren He devouring the airplane meal on his own, and although no one said anything, they had already affixed various labels to him. One problem with human interactions is that people always tend to judge by appearances.

Ren He didn’t care about that; having fleeting encounters with people on the plane, with no chance of any further interaction after landing, he was about to return to his own life.

The pretty girl sitting next to him, out of kindness, handed Ren He a box of food: "We had this prepared earlier. Have a taste."

Ren He appreciated her gesture. Maybe his +3 charm attributes were at work again... but he declined the girl’s offer with a smile, indicating that he had already had enough to eat.

The girl felt that impulsively offering food to a stranger might have been overly enthusiastic, but for some reason, she felt an indescribable attraction to the young man sitting next to her. It was something intangible, elusive, impossible to clearly define or explain.

She didn’t intend for anything to happen. She just felt like talking to him.

This feeling really came out of nowhere...

Even Ren He himself didn’t know that, aside from gaining a +3 to his charm attributes, after truly experiencing the ravages of war, he had developed an indescribable temperament. It was a accumulation of a resolute and decisive mindset, and the outward manifestation of this state of mind.

The journey was safe and uneventful, with no hijacking, no derision or mockery, no sound of gunfire. This was the peaceful life Ren He had been longing for more than a month, and on the plane, he fell into a deep sleep.

After 13 hours, the plane landed at Capital International Airport, and there was no CIA drone strike jokingly mentioned by Steve, nor any further complications. Ren He finally returned to his home country.

When he stepped off the plane and set foot on Chinese soil, his heart was filled with emotion. At this moment, some Chinese tourists around him began to walk towards the exit, and Ren He, at the very front, was eager to see Yang Xi.

It was very likely that Mrs. Ren was waiting outside as well, but whether early or late, death is all the same... Ren He believed that Mrs. Ren would eventually forgive him...

In fact, at this moment, Mrs. Ren’s desire to see her son outweighed her anger. All she wanted now was to first lay eyes on this lawless kid before anything else; getting angry would come later, after they got home...

So, when Ren He emerged from the exit, Mrs. Ren watched coldly as her son embraced Yang Xi, then casually said "Let’s go home and talk," before turning and getting into the car. It was only when she was in the car that her eyes began to redden. Only by seeing her son with her own eyes could she be sure: her son was truly alive!

Alive and well, that’s good enough. They would settle accounts later. For tonight, she would let her son have a good meal; he had gotten thin.

In reality, Ren He hadn’t lost weight, it was purely Mrs. Ren’s own wishful thinking...

At this moment, Ren He stood at the exit, looking at the people who had come to pick him up... Yang Xi, wearing a mask and sunglasses, was embracing him, and Ren He, smelling the scent of her hair, finally confirmed that he had truly returned from hell to the realm of the living. Following behind Yang Xi were Xu Nuo and all the heavyweights from the Qinghe Faction. Honestly, Ren He hadn’t expected so many people to come to welcome him. Now, these people were all influential figures in their respective fields.

At this moment, everyone suddenly burst into laughter led by Xu Nuo, saying in unison, "Welcome home, boss."

Ren He, holding Yang Xi, felt his nose tingle with emotion, "Thank you everyone. Let’s go, dinner is on me tonight. We’ll eat well."

The tourists who had just arrived at the exit saw Ren He and his entourage of more than twenty people board the fleet of luxury cars outside the airport, surrounded by a sea of opulence, with Ren He at the center, looking quite impressive.

A tourist suddenly wondered, "Doesn’t that girl look a bit like a celebrity?"

"Those people... seem like executives from the Qinghe Faction, right?"

How did a seemingly ordinary kid like him suddenly transform into someone so dazzling?!

"... Must be seeing things, right?"

"Yeah, definitely seeing things..."
