Chapter 467: 461, Let’s Go Together (Third Update)_1
Ren He didn’t know the situation outside; he just needed to think about how he could safely escape America. At that moment, Ren He suddenly remembered someone, a backup plan he had left for himself, and this person might just be the assistance he needed now: the gay superstar Evan’s bodyguard, Steve.
The man was a professional thief who definitely knew more about the city’s underworld than Ren He did.
Truthfully, Ren He was quite helpless. Although he had the skills of both a combat master and a Master of Firearms, he lacked much of the common knowledge that an agent should have, such as where to get guns, where to forge documents, where to smuggle oneself out, and where to find the black market.
Ren He knew nothing of the sort; all he had was a complete map of New York City and its drainage system in his mind.
So, he needed to seek help.
That night, there were four thieves in total, but in fact, only one of them could be of help to Ren He; the other three were just students from New York University.
Ren He dialed Steve’s number on a newly purchased second-hand phone, having all the phone numbers in his head—Iiterally, his super memory was his most convenient skill.
When he got through, Ren He heard that familiar voice and laughed, "Mr. Steve, I need your help with something."
Steve took a sharp breath on the other end, his biggest concern during this period had been receiving a call from Knight. With his fate in someone else’s hands, wasn’t he at the mercy of their whims?
But what could Knight possibly need his help with? It shouldn’t be anything too dangerous, right? Steve thought for a moment and calmly asked, "What’s up? Does Knight really need my help?"
"Yes, definitely. You’re in New York now, right? Come to Park Avenue, I’ll wait for you at the intersection," Ren He said with a smile, holding this man’s fate in his own hands and yet unaware of Ren He’s other identities or of what had happened. So for the moment, he was still reliable.
As for whether he would be reliable in the future, that remained to be seen.
After hanging up, Steve thought hard for a long while; the caller knew he was currently poor because of gambling debts, so this definitely wasn’t about money, and the caller wasn’t short of cash either.
The caller was aware of his abilities and probably needed them. Could it be that he wanted Steve to steal something? But as long as one remained cautious, there shouldn’t be any danger.
Steve changed his clothes and went out. He had quit his job as Evan’s bodyguard and was idling at home now. He was done serving that deadbeat—let someone else take care of him if they wanted to.
Ever since Evan had vomited poop, he had become all jittery and even a bit extreme, turning into a complete pervert.
When Steve arrived at Park Avenue, he saw Ren He standing idly at the intersection waiting for him. Ren He waved to him and then started walking towards his residence. Standing at the intersection to wait was also to check if the other party had brought anyone along; if so, then he might just have to cut a bloody path out again.
Being a little cautious and careful never hurt anyone.
Once the two entered the house, Steve immediately saw the handgun on the couch and his pupils constricted. What was going on? Was he now involved with guns and cars?
Ren He calmly sat down and began to explain his situation to Steve, "Well, let me give you a brief introduction of my situation first? Oh, right, I’ve sent your leverage and evidence back home with the oil painting. If anything happens to me, you can’t hide your issues, you know what I mean..."
What the hell, wasn’t he supposed to explain the situation? Why start with a threat?! Steve was completely taken aback, but he couldn’t say anything with the leverage in someone else’s hands.
Ren He cheerfully continued, "You’ve heard about the incident a few days ago where the National Security Agency was chasing a sniper who opened fire in the city center, right?"
This incident was now widely covered in the news, so it was impossible for the other party not to have heard of it.
Steve had a bad feeling at the time, wondering if he was going to be connected to that incident. Although he was a burglar, what was that incident about? It was a super-villain fighting against the entire National Security Agency’s combat team in the heart of New York. It was simply not in the same league, okay?!
Before he could react, Ren He smiled and said, "Well, that sniper was me."
Steve wanted to turn around and run out at that moment. However, remembering that his leverage was still in Ren He’s hands, he stopped himself mid-step. He had heard that Knight was incredible, too incredible to be human.
But he never imagined that someone could go on such a mad killing spree in the city center and still escape from the National Security Agency. What the hell was that concept? Maybe a hundred of himself would also be obliterated, right?!
Is this guy even human?
However, now that he was involved with this incident, his future had become incredibly uncertain, with both life and death unknown.
Steve asked with a cold face, "What do you want me to do? There’s no way I’ll go around shooting people with you, I’ve never killed anyone."
"Don’t be nervous, I just want to leave New York," Ren He said cheerfully. "Do you have any way to leave New York? Can you do makeup? Like, the kind that won’t come off and looks natural for several days?"
Steve sighed with relief; it was just about leaving New York. After thinking for a while, he said, "The makeup part is no problem. The day after tomorrow, I can get you on the Oasis of the Seas as a regular service staff member. This cruise ship will leave from Chicago, pass by New York the day after tomorrow, then head to Miami, and ultimately arrive at Falmouth in Jamaica. You can disembark there, and how to get back to China is your own concern."
Steve, with his connections, didn’t see it as a big problem to smoothly get someone on board as a service staff. What he was thinking was, what if he reported to the FBI after the other party set sail?
After a cruise ship ventures 50 kilometers out to sea, there is basically no internet connection. Some luxury cruises do have it, but the Oasis of the Seas is one of those without any internet signal. Once the other party set sail, if he reported to the FBI, not only would he be credited for the report, but he might also prevent the other party from releasing evidence of his criminal leverage online, right?
This way, he felt he could permanently resolve the issue with the other party and even get a reward from the FBI. Considering the situation, his attempt to steal "Stubbornness" seemed trivial, and who knew what else this Knight had done in the past.
So, a cunning plan began to take shape in Steve’s mind...
However, he suddenly saw Ren He looking at him with a cheerful smile, as if he had read Steve’s mind, and said with a laugh, "It’s not just me leaving, we’re leaving
