Chapter 396: 391, The Return of the Little Professor (Third Update)_1

The day after the Knight’s battle with the thief, An Si brought the security transport company to Columbia University. Only Liu Erbao’s team had returned to China due to an internal TK meeting, while An Si was still in the U.S.

Ren He did not personally handle the transportation, as the money had already been transferred to An Si. The oil painting, once in China, would be the responsibility of Liu Erbao to receive and eventually smuggle back to Liu Hai Alley without much concern from Ren He.

Ren He’s life seemed to have returned to its original track, and his classmates suddenly realized... Ren He didn’t actually become one of Richard’s personal disciples after all.

In the past, once the disciples were chosen, they would no longer attend large classes, simply reporting to Richard every day instead. Yet, Ren He still leisurely attended the large classes with them every day...

Little did they know that Richard had no idea what to teach him and had completely left him to his own devices.

By this time, two weeks had passed since Yang Xi had returned to the Juilliard School of Music. It was about time for him to go back as well!

While the classmates maintained their skepticism towards Ren He, even the external faculties knew that the art college might have a new student that Richard would take as a personal disciple. Yet before the gossip could spread for two days, that student had completely vanished from the face of the earth!

Out of curiosity, some people loitered outside Richard’s studio to see if Ren He was there, but they came up empty-handed.

This international student seemed to have no need to attend classes and had just disappeared like steam into thin air, without any intention from the teachers to intervene.

This student now began to appear somewhat mysterious in the hearts of his classmates.

...

When Ren He had initially taken a leave of absence from the Juilliard School of Music, he had not informed the students, only mentioning it to Joseph before he left.

So the piano division’s students, along with others who were auditing, were taken aback when the classes supposed to be taught by Ren He were suddenly taught by someone else, raising their discontent.

At that time, the entire Juilliard School of Music had over 700 people, among which more than 500 had audited the lessons of the ’little professor’, gaining profound insights from each session.

As long as they didn’t have their own classes, they made sure to attend the "little professor’s" lessons.

Eventually, students from other departments started pleading with their teachers to reschedule their classes to avoid conflicts. The teachers, finding themselves in a hard position yet unable to complain, also admired the "little professor’s" overflowing talent...

These teachers were among the first to encounter Ren He, who arrived at Juilliard dusty and travel-worn, and still played four songs with poise amidst skepticism, proving himself a master composer and a maestro at both the piano and violin. He even proposed two theories that are becoming increasingly widespread in the music circles. ’The little professor with poems’, this was an accepted nickname, an honorific title!

Some students said that they wouldn’t think he was showing off even if the ’little professor’ recited a poem right in front of them.

This was exactly the teachers’ feeling too... Every time they saw Ren He, they felt as though they were in the presence of a master from the medieval times.

Because of Ren He’s reputation, when he took leave and was absent for a while, several students banded together to inquire of Joseph what exactly was going on, wondering if the school had fired the "little professor" due to public pressure!

Joseph initially didn’t bother with them, dismissing the notion with a statement that it wasn’t true. However, as Ren He did not return even after a month, everyone thought that the "little professor" wouldn’t come back!

At that point, over a hundred students cornered Joseph, earnestly requesting him to have the "little professor" return to teach...

Joseph’s feelings were complicated too, ’Your "little professor" had turned off his phone! I can’t find him either!’ Seeing the piano and composition professors wanting to quit because of the tremendous pressure, he was helpless without Ren He’s whereabouts. What could he do? He too was in despair!

All he could do was explain to everyone, "The ’little professor’ just took leave. He will return, I promise!"

For the chairman of a music conservatory to be cornered by the students in such a manner was quite unprecedented, a testament to Joseph’s good nature.

Then the students said, "We don’t believe it. Show us the ’little professor’s’ leave request."

Chairman Joseph was stunned at the time; he had never imagined the students would make such a request. You really are clever...

Clever my ass, Ren He had only verbally asked for leave from him! Being a chairman is so difficult; from now on, anyone taking a leave must submit a leave request form!

To be honest, Joseph himself hadn’t expected that Ren He, this poetry-like young professor, would have already gained such high prestige in the music academy.

One morning, Ren He leisurely walked downstairs and into the Juilliard School of Music. At first, the students in the academy hadn’t realized who he was, but then they slowly started greeting him with surprise: "Little Professor, you’re back!"

"You finally came back, when will you start teaching!"

"Haha, Chairman Joseph really didn’t lie to us!"

As Ren He walked through, almost every student he met took the initiative to greet him. For them, seeing the Little Professor return to Juilliard was definitely a reason to rejoice.

Especially for the students in the composition and piano departments. During Ren He’s tenure, he would occasionally share knowledge in other areas, not just about piano. Therefore, the students from these two departments benefited the most.

What’s the purpose of going to school if not to hope to study under a renowned teacher, having managed to enter Juilliard with difficulty?

In fact, Ren He and Joseph had overlooked one issue. Initially, they both felt that Ren He’s age would be a big problem, making it difficult for the students to relate and to take his classes seriously.

But, as it turned out, things developed in the opposite direction. After Ren He demonstrated his strong musical ability, it was because of his youth that the students regarded him as a true musical prodigy!

Some even blindly worshiped every word the Little Professor said, believing that it was this knowledge that enabled him to become a grand master in the classical music realm at such a young age.

Old professors commanded respect due to their experience, but everyone felt that it was because old professors were older than them, practiced more than them, saw more than them. On the other hand, the young age of the Little Professor generated a sense of adoration at the other extreme.

Ren He headed to the piano department’s practice rooms, followed by many students eager to hear what the Little Professor’s first class back would be about. They wondered if there would be new pieces or new theories.

Others wanted to see what expression the Little Professor would have upon learning that a world-class diva had emerged from his department. In any case, there was much to look forward to...

When Ren He entered the practice room, the substitute piano professor who had been taking over his classes was already there. The substitute handed over the scores and other material to Ren He, who softly expressed his thanks.

The professor said helplessly with a smile, "You don’t need to thank me. If you didn’t come back, they were about to flip the tables."

After saying that, the professor left. Seeing the professor give back the lecture materials and scores to Ren He stirred excitement among the students. Ren He waved his hand to calm them down, feeling a bit bad for the professor and said earnestly, "The man has taught you for a month, and this is how you send him off? Is that proper?"

Everyone looked at each other, then Yang Xi sincerely led the way by bowing deeply and said to the professor who was smiling bitterly at the door, "Professor, you’ve worked hard."

Suddenly, over a hundred students all bowed down in unison and shouted, "Professor, you’ve worked hard."

The professor, with a complex expression, said with a laugh, "Hey, I’m no spring chicken anymore, but I’m still not as good as you at leading students. Alright, no need to thank me. Continue your classes, I’m not so petty."

Standing inside the piano room, Ren He faced all the students who had come for his class and felt quite moved. He suddenly smiled and said, "Hello everyone, it’s been a long time. I’m back."

"I’m back," just this calm statement nearly caused the roof to be lifted by the cheering of over a hundred students. They celebrated joyously, never expecting that one day they would adore a teacher so much!

The entire music academy could hear the loud cheers, and everyone knew one thing: the Little Professor of the Juilliard School of Music was back!
