Chapter 323: 321. The Knight is a Belief (Fourth Update, Seeking Monthly Votes)_1
Ren He had, in essence, entered China from Nepal, and figuring out how to process these entry procedures had given everyone a headache for half a day. Usually, entry from Nepal is through Zhangmu Town, but it was rare for anyone to enter from Mount Everest...
But Ren He wasn’t about to climb back because he didn’t know how to handle the paperwork, was he? That would be utterly ridiculous. Climbing Mount Everest three times in a month and the last time, because he descended the north side, he couldn’t handle the entry procedures? If that got out, it would be a laughingstock.
In the end, they found an agency to deal with all these matters. Ren He also found out through contacting An Si that everyone from the Qinghe Club had safely returned to the base camp and would be heading back to the country soon.
This journey to Mount Everest was a spiritual uplift for everyone involved, not just for those who reached the summit but also for Liu Erbao and An Si.
An Si had even more profound insights. He had spent a cumulative month above the 6,000-meter elevation of Mount Everest, adapting from an initial discomfort to moving around with ease in the base camp, getting used to the climate there...
Liu Erbao and the others drove non-stop back to the Capital. They were in a rush to finish the promotional video, and Erbao himself couldn’t wait to watch Leap of Faith several times over.
Back then, he had been far away, observing through a telescope which wasn’t as vivid, nowhere near as thrilling as being up-close with a high-definition camera.
The fact that Liu Erbao’s team had gone to Mount Everest and stayed on standby at the base camp was no secret, so much so that some climbing teams that had successfully summited and returned to the mainland told the media about it. People had reason to believe that Knight was planning to take on another challenge on the north side, but what that challenge was, remained unknown.
The media were just a bit curious, wasn’t Knight in Nepal? Why were Liu Erbao and his team preparing on the north side? But ordinary journalists simply couldn’t go up Everest, even at the 6,000-meter elevation they couldn’t handle it, so they had to wait at the foot of the mountain.
Another group simply applied to their leaders to go to Nepal, thinking that Knight must be in the camp near the 6,000-meter elevation in Nepal.
But after waiting for more than ten days, Liu Erbao and his team just stayed in the base camp and didn’t go anywhere, making the journalists think that maybe Erbao was just stimulated by his good friend, the Knight, and came to see Mount Everest for himself...
After 20 days, the journalists were running out of patience. They couldn’t stay any longer as their companies would not reimburse their travel expenses!
However, just as they had dispersed, Ren He and Liu Erbao, positioned on both sides, simultaneously sprang into action... But since all these happenings were above 6,000 meters, even if the news traveled down, it would take a long time, thus the journalists had no chance to react.
Ren He sat in Liu Erbao’s car, calmly watching the Tibetan landscape speed by in reverse through the window. To be honest, he hadn’t taken the time to properly tour Kathmandu this trip, and now he didn’t have the time to visit Lhasa either. To be honest, he was quite eager to see what the video would turn out like; after all, he had been obsessed with Assassin’s Creed for a while, just short of reenacting the Leap of Faith in real life.
And now, in this life, he truly had that chance. The thought was quite thrilling.
Alternating drivers, they raced back to the Capital. Erbao immediately holed up in his abandoned factory to produce the new promotional video, while Ren He returned to his Courtyard House and slept for a full three days, barely leaving his bed except to eat.
One week later, the promotional video was completed!
By this time, An Si had also returned to the country, as flying was indeed faster than driving. As soon as he got back, he planned to meet up with the Qinghe Club at the Courtyard House to catch up with Ren He, but Ren He refused them all. He had had too much fun this time, and now he just wanted some peace...
Once Liu Erbao’s team had finished the promotional video, Ren He finally shook off his fatigue, and together with An Si, rushed to Erbao’s abandoned factory.
Erbao, with an air of mystery, led them to a huge screen, "This is the first time I’ve watched a video I made myself dozens of times. You guys feel it!"
He clicked the play button solemnly, and the first shot of the promotional video was taken from a low angle, showing Ren He standing on the edge of a snowy peak. Then, without giving anyone a chance to react, the Ren He in the frame leapt down from the top of the snowy mountain. The special effects included sunlight shining from above, creating a scene akin to a holy aura, with the most prominent part being Ren He, arms spread, plummeting downward.
Leap of Faith was so infectious in my previous life not only because of its breathtaking beauty but also because of the composed and commanding air it conveyed, all of which Ren He captured perfectly!
This time, the promotional video entered its climax right from the start, causing my blood to catch fire without warning.
"Darn, this is probably the best promo video yet," Ren He commented. Indeed, it was more passionate than the previous ones.
"Haha, I couldn’t have produced such a piece without you!" Liu Erbao humbly remarked for once.
An Si laughed at his expression and said, "Well, the 5 million RMB TK spent this time wasn’t wasted, and my hardships on Mount Everest weren’t for nothing. All right, I’ll take the video and send it to headquarters. If all goes well, it should be released during tonight’s peak of internet traffic."
"Hold on, this promo video still needs a name. Ren He, brother, want to name it?" Liu Erbao cheerfully suggested.
Ren He didn’t refuse. After pondering a moment, he said, "Let’s call it ’Leap of Faith.’"
Although the promo video still featured downhill skiing as its theme, what really stood out was the leap. For Ren He, the leap was what he truly wanted to do, the downhill skiing was merely to shut up those who doubted him.
TK’s executives were also quite astute. They paid Liu Erbao and his team a production fee of 5 million RMB for each promotional video, as well as a hefty endorsement fee to Knight. While sales from bicycles, Red Scarves, and other merchandise had already recouped costs and netted a substantial profit, they still came up with other revenue-generating strategies...
Now, whenever Knight released a video, it would become the hottest topic. Video sites even started to scramble for exclusive rights to air the video. And just the annual exclusive rights alone brought in 3.17 million US Dollars for TK. Terrifying, indeed!
The fact is, everyone knew the deal: doing business meant making a profit, and exclusive rights to Knight’s videos meant billions of views for those video sites.
With increased influence, advertisers naturally became more willing to spend money.
When the "Leap of Faith" video went online, without doubt, the title of the premier speed skier was instantly passed on. Since they wanted to talk speed, they just had to compare top speeds. Knight’s speed in the video even exceeded the current world record holder by more than 10 points. The faster the speed, the harder it is to increase, and Ren He had taken the title of number one with an overwhelming lead.
But as Ren He predicted, once the video appeared, downhill skiing became a secondary topic. That leap of faith was what truly made everyone’s blood boil with excitement!
The calm fall and tremendous height difference in Leap of Faith left everyone immensely shaken. They had never thought it possible to witness such an adrenaline-pumping scene on a real person.
This is Knight!
Faith is something called Knight!
