Chapter 248: 246, Rogue Gang (First Update)_1
The elderly couple hired for help, the man named Fang Yu and the woman named Wang Dai, get up very early for their morning chores, even earlier than Ren He who has developed the habit of exercising in the morning.
First thing in the morning, they start cleaning the yard and sprinkling water. Ren He isn’t affected by their presence and begins doing push-ups in the yard, using a walnut tree to do pull-ups. Once he gets hot from the exercise, he takes off his shirt, leaving the couple staring in astonishment at his muscular physique.
When he puts on his clothes, Ren He looks no different from a normal person; they hadn’t realized that he could have such a strong body!
Moreover, his muscles aren’t bulging in a disgusting way but rather flow in smooth lines.
They always hear that city people don’t exercise and their cousin Cui Qiang is exactly that, a fat man, but the energy Ren He exudes is even better than those who work every day.
After taking a shower, Ren He came out and cheerfully said, "Uncle Fang, we’ll have quite a few guests coming over tonight. It’ll be busy later, so let’s head to the market together."
"Alright," Fang Yu wiped his hands with a cloth and followed Ren He to the market.
The guests invited tonight were all members of the Qinghe Club: An Si, Liu Erbao, and Xia Yuting. These were probably all the friends he had in Capital now. Elder Zhou had gone to build Hope Primary Schools in Shaanxi after the premiere of Kunlun, so he couldn’t make it.
As for Yang Xi, since Yang En returned to Capital, she can’t stay out too long, hence she couldn’t come either.
Gathering this group together might give them a more complete picture of Ren He, but he invited them confidently, without fear of troublesome gossip since they were reliable friends who wouldn’t babble to the media.
Ren He and Fang Yu bought loads of food from the market, including fish, meat, and wine, all waiting for the guests to arrive.
Fang Yu felt a tinge of envy: "Life in the city is really different, isn’t it? Every day is like celebrating the New Year."
This comment made Ren He pause. In fact, many parts of the country were still very poor, to an extent that city kids can’t even imagine.
Should he organize a teaching trip for the Qinghe Club to one of the Hope Primary Schools supported by the Qinghe Fund? Although the Qinghe Club hadn’t done any serious activities, even Liu Jiamin had a strong level in cultural subjects.
The Qinghe Club scholarship was an annual event, meaning that by next June, after the final exams, he would have to distribute money. He was worried that these kids, upon receiving such an amount, might not know how to spend it wisely and could end up learning bad behaviors. Money and fame can easily cause corruption, so it seemed necessary to expose them to tougher environments before then, to show them how unfair the world can be.
This would also be a lesson in character development—unlike the affluent "study tours," Ren He believed that experiencing poverty first-hand before enjoying wealth was more meaningful.
Doing good deeds can be a redemption for one’s soul, bringing inner peace and positive energy.
In his past life, Ren He had seen an interesting show called "Transformation," which took wealthy kids to the countryside and poor kids to the city to induce change in them.
In fact, it really changed the personalities of many kids, helping them get rid of many bad habits.
Jiang Haoyang, Liu Bing, and Li Yifan had quite a few flaws due to their affluent family backgrounds. Ren He was eager to see them improve.
However, the teaching trip shouldn’t be too long. A short stint of one or two weeks can lead to transformation, but any longer might turn positive energy into resentfulness.
In the afternoon, Liu Erbao and the others set off early. Before going to their destination, they had a challenging task... losing the paparazzi.
Before Liu Erbao stepped out, he was on the second floor of the factory peering out of the window when he spotted several unfamiliar cars parked at the entrance. It was blatant surveillance; there was nothing but vacant space in front and behind their workshop—could those cars be there for any other reason? They were obviously there to tail them, and they weren’t even trying to hide it!
At first, Liu Erbao called Ren He to report, "Brother, we might not be able to make it, there are paparazzi on our tail."
Ren He was taken aback for a moment, "Tell me what’s happening?"
After Liu Erbao explained the situation with the three cars parked outside, Ren He chuckled, "Erbao, are you afraid of the media?"
"Scared? My ass! It doesn’t matter whether they exist or not; I live well and eat well. Why would I be afraid of them?" Liu Erbao was angered. He was the kind of person whose livelihood depended on his skills, and domestic media couldn’t touch his foreign currency earnings that brought glory to his country. Being so free from desire, the media was the least of Liu Erbao’s concerns.
"How many of you are there?" Ren He asked with amusement.
"There’s 12 of us," Liu Erbao replied, confused, "Why?"
"What’s there to be scared of?" Ren He’s smile grew wider, "I’ve got a plan for you!"
Both parties were not scared of heaven nor earth, let alone the media. They were people who didn’t seek fame and didn’t care about media exposure.
The reporters outside the factory were smoking nonchalantly. In theory, if you’re going to be a paparazzo, you have to act the part discreetly, not so arrogantly. However, Liu Erbao’s fortress was so barren that they couldn’t hide, so they had no choice but to brazenly cluster and smoke. Three cars from three different media outlets—usually competitors—but after squatting there for a few days, everyone had grown numb. Liu Erbao and his team holed up inside the factory, blaring music, never stepping out, not giving the reporters a scrap of news.
Suddenly, the factory doors burst open, and all the journalists perked up. Were they finally coming out?!
However, they watched as Liu Erbao’s team of 12 burst out, each wielding some sharp metal object, leaving the reporters completely baffled.
With perfect coordination, Liu Erbao’s team dashed straight for the three cars parked some distance away. The reporters now sensed something was amiss—were they about to witness a murder?!
But no, before the journalists could even think of escaping, Liu Erbao’s crew swiftly punctured the cars’ tires with 12 punctures... three vehicles’ tires deflated.
Holy shit. The reporters were dumbfounded. Just as they were about to confront Liu Erbao and reason with him, the bunch of hooligans turned around, screaming wildly, and scrambled back to their own vehicles to drive off!
Dust clouds were kicked up by several vehicles, leaving only a few reporters at the entrance of the factory, their faces smeared with dust and their expressions of utter bemusement as they watched Liu Erbao and his team disappear into the distance...
"Are these REALLY an international filming crew? They’re just a bunch of thugs!"
"That’s so low!"
"This is definitely the most disastrous stakeout I’ve ever had!"
Liu Erbao and his team had charged over without a word, punctured the tires, and dispersed just as quickly, in silent agreement. When Ren He had suggested the plan, Liu Erbao had thought it was a bit too thuggish, too messy, but after giving it some thought, it was damn exhilarating!
I have my privacy, I’m no celebrity. Who said you paparazzi could just snap pictures when you like? By what right!?
Triumphant, Liu Erbao called Ren He from the car, "Brother, your plan worked brilliantly. You should have seen the looks on those reporters’ faces, haha, they were totally stunned!"
