Chapter 184: 182. The Rise of Qinghe Games (Part 5)_1

Arriving at the studio, Ren He was surprised to see that everyone was still hard at work. To be honest, he was indeed surprised; in his past life, what he had been most familiar with was how to motivate employees to work hard as a human resources manager, but that was really challenging. Some always referred to the 28 theory: in a company, only that 20% of the employees are truly effective, while the remaining 80% are just going through the motions.

This phenomenon does exist, yet there are those who can break the norm.

Ren He didn’t believe that simply improving employee benefits would make everyone busily engage with their work. All this was probably due to everyone having a common vision: to make this awesome game!

Let’s not talk about the artists; just take the six programmers currently employed as an example—they had all worked on games. They had, more or less, been involved in domestic single-player games like adventure games, strategy games, shooting games, and so on.

But the several points Ren He covered in his previous PPT presentation seemed novel to these developers who were somewhat famous in the game development world.

There were a few points that interested them the most.

First, although the internet was starting to develop and all game companies were beginning to move towards the internet, everyone’s mindset was still in the exploratory stage; there weren’t many complete games, and everyone kept focusing on the game’s storyline and fun elements. However, they had not yet grasped the essence of online gaming: interaction.

When Ren He talked about those elements in Kunlun’s planning, such as rankings, sects, quests, trading, vending stalls, pets, arenas, marriage, and crafting your weapons, etc., it was as if they were indeed real, as if they would be accepted by people once made.

Second, the 5V5 strategy game Dota was very innovative. With complex heroes, complex abilities, complex strategies, and tactics, some programmers even wondered whether such a complicated game could be accepted once produced?

Now, what troubled them was that Ren He was demanding that Kunlun must be simple, with an incredibly strong operational experience, while at the same time insisting that Dota should not be watered down in any way and must retain its competitive nature.

Sorry, we don’t quite understand; this game needs to have competitiveness? Why?

It’s hard to have an intuitive concept of a game that is not yet fully formed. It’s like when someone tells you they want to build a house, but can you imagine what the house will be like before it’s even been built, not to mention before the blueprints are drawn? What will the layout be? You can’t imagine, right?

You can guess, but is your guess the truth?

So the programmers were feeling lost, but for some reason, they always sensed an invisible confidence and charm about Ren He. He talked to them about many things with such assurance that when Ren He spoke, they subconsciously chose to believe him.

Because Ren He wasn’t just confident, he had lived those games; he adored Dota, so he knew all the details about it. What’s scarier than being confident is when you think he’s just certain about something, he’s already been playing that game for many years.

The programmers believed, okay, our game will definitely be epoch-making, it will definitely succeed! Heh, although we damn well don’t know why...

The programmers felt like they were going insane; suddenly, they had this unfounded confidence that they were working on a groundbreaking game...

But a groundbreaking game, and the planner has gone AWOL... How could they stomach that?!

So when Little Fatty unintentionally mentioned that Ren He had returned, everyone unanimously decided to have Little Fatty drag Ren He over to solve all their problems. They were all obsessed; the feeling of work being stuck halfway and utterly stagnant was practically making them vomit blood!

No sooner had Ren He arrived at the company than he was surrounded by a crowd, all talking at once about their own issues. He was so encircled that he couldn’t even hear clearly what each person was saying.

"That’s definitely not a solution," Ren He waved his hand and called out, "Wait a moment, let me say something!"

It was then that everyone quieted down to listen to Ren He. "We’ve encountered a lot of problems, but we all understand that these problems can definitely be solved! Let’s take it one step at a time."

As he spoke, Ren He emptied a trash can filled with scrap paper beside him before continuing, "Now, everyone, write down each of your problems on a piece of paper and throw it in here. I’ll take them out one by one and address each issue until this trash can is completely empty!"

Everyone’s eyes lit up. This could work! They had all experienced the unproductive process of long meetings in large companies, where a whole day of arguing led to no resolutions. But now it was different; this approach would be much more efficient!

Solving things until nothing is left sounded so satisfying!

However, when everyone threw all their problems in, Ren He was stunned; one trash can was simply not enough. He had no choice but to clear out another trash can to hold the remaining problem slips.

While doing this, Ren He hadn’t thought that his actions today would introduce an interesting new work mode to the internals of Qinghe Games in the future: the Garbage Can Mode.

Everyone threw their problem slips into the trash cans, and the problems in the cans had to be resolved one by one. No delays, no bickering, no meetings—everything had to be done in the course of solving problems.

New problems kept emerging, but they were all being resolved. This was the future Garbage Can System within Qinghe Games that the employees would praise.

Ren He looked at the piles of slips in front of him and almost wanted to cry without tears. With a wry smile, he said, "Are you guys not planning to leave work today? Xu Nuo, you lead a team to buy some supper. Let’s play the long game tonight. Whoever wants to sleep, go sleep. After waking up, we’ll continue solving problems. Before this trash can is emptied, everyone gets double pay!"

Talking is cheap, but money speaks volumes. Although this would increase labor costs, money couldn’t always buy efficiency. The team’s enthusiasm was running high, and it was time to strike while the iron was hot.

Many companies emphasize the importance of unity, but they always fail to understand one thing: unity is forged through trials. The united front the whole country presented during the Wenchuan earthquake in Ren He’s previous life is the most typical example. Another example is the deep bond between soldiers who have experienced hardship together.

And now, it was the perfect opportunity for Ren He to unify the hearts of the people at Qinghe Games. He intended to exchange money and his sweat for the unity and execution ability of Qinghe Games, betting that it wouldn’t be a loss!

Everyone gathered together, pushing their desks to form a cluster. With computers lined up side by side like an internet café, Ren He sat at the head of the table, with others forming a circle around him and waiting for him to address their problems. The supper arrived, and everyone worked while eating, without a hint of disharmony.

Ren He took out the slips one by one and solved the problems on the spot before moving on to the next.

At first, no one felt anything special, but gradually, an inexplicable sense of awe emerged. The young man sitting at the head seemed to have the ability to solve all the issues, whether in planning or art. He was swiftly resolving them one after another, while the others worked to construct the rudiments of a gaming empire, the rise of Qinghe Games, as per his direction.

And that young man seemed invincible.
