Chapter 128: 127, come back to me, we’ll share a room! (Second Update)_1

Huangfu Zhuri had wanted to drive fast enough to catch a glimpse of the owners of the two pickup trucks through the car window. However, as soon as the truck in front passed the tollbooth, it sped away like a bolt of lightning, and he knew he couldn’t catch up just by looking at that speed.

It was an early morning in April, with the distant sunrise casting a crimson glow like a swelling tide—such was the epitome of good times.

In the car, Ren He was driving, and Yang Xi still had her guitar with her. She smiled and said, "Want to listen to some music?"

"Sure," Ren He replied cheerfully. "You haven’t sung ’Easy to Ignite, Easy to Explode’ for me yet. Let’s hear how you interpret it."

He had been worried that Yang Xi’s age wouldn’t allow her to properly interpret the song, so he had sung it to her once in Chen Li’s style as a reference. Whether she could interpret it well in the end was of no concern to Ren He—if not, they would just pick another song.

If Yang Xi liked the song, there was no need to sell it; it could be kept for her to perform when she was able to interpret it later on.

After all, a man in love really spoils his partner like his own cherished daughter. Even if Yang Xi suddenly said she wanted deep-fried dough sticks at 5 o’clock in the morning, he would willingly go buy them. Fortunately, Yang Xi never made such demands, and she wouldn’t bother Ren He with something she could handle on her own.

This surprised Ren He. Many girls in life like to prove their presence by demanding their partner’s efforts for them, refusing to eat when asked in the evening, yet at 3 o’clock in the morning, they get hungry and demand their partner go out to buy them food, even while the man is at work.

Ren He felt that two people together should at least be two individuals who can live and take care of themselves—that’s a prerequisite.

It’s not that men can’t do these things for women. These are small, trivial matters; what matters is the other person’s concept.

Nowadays, more and more men prefer to stay single, as getting a girlfriend is just too damn troublesome!

And Yang Xi was the type of person who would even silently open a drink cap herself, straightforward and decisive to the extreme...

When Ren He asked her why she didn’t let him do it, Yang Xi looked at him in surprise and said, "I can open it myself." Ren He was left speechless, not knowing what to say.

For Ren He, meeting her was already a stroke of luck, not because he could write songs for her, and therefore he should be awesome, and she should fawn over him. That’s not love, and those who think this way may have a misconception about love.

Meanwhile, Xu Nuo in the back seat was a bit confused by their conversation. "What song to sing? What’s ’Easy to Ignite, Easy to Explode’? Is it in the car? Don’t keep anything so dangerous in the car!"

"Just listen to the song and stop talking nonsense," Ren He rolled his eyes.

Yang Xi began strumming the guitar strings. To be honest, she was a bit nervous when playing the guitar because Ren He was such a superb guitarist that, in front of him, her own guitar skills always felt somewhat lacking...

However, once she got into the zone, she no longer cared about that.

"You hope for my madness, yet also for my solitude, unable to live alone"

"You desire my cool grace, yet also my frivolity and degradation"

"You want my sunniness, as well as my charm that doesn’t falter"

"You mock my uncontrollable tears, yet also my heart like withered wood"

When Yang Xi sang out loud, Ren He got goosebumps all over—it was utterly moving! From the moment Yang Xi sang the first line, that sense of rupture in ’Easy to Ignite, Easy to Explode’ came through—tearing through notions, past, and future, ripping through the heart and lungs.

Even Ren He, who had heard the original, couldn’t help but praise it. It was really good!

When the song ended, Xu Nuo was stunned. "Whose song is this? It sounds great!"

"Yang Xi’s song, yeah, you remember she said she wanted to sing, right? I wrote it for her," Ren He said cheerfully. Xu Nuo had no idea that he and Yang Xi had already had a dust-up in the Back Sea area of the Capital, and in two months’ time, he would bring Yang Xi back there to lay waste to all those so-called folk music gurus and pop music mavens, having them flip head over heels five times over!

That would be their most glorious moment, when he would stand aside and watch as Yang Xi turned into the brightest star in the whole world!

And his path of living on the edge had only just begun!

Xu Nuo was still clueless at the moment, saying, "You can really write songs? Holy shit, do you guys remember those two junior high schoolers who became famous for singing during the winter break? I think you guys are totally on par with them!"

Ren He and Yang Xi just looked at each other and smiled, not offering too much of an explanation. This was still their secret, one not even Xu Nuo was aware of. If Xu Nuo found out that the two junior high schoolers who had become famous were actually Ren He and Yang Xi right in front of him, his whole worldview would probably be turned upside down.

They arrived at Mount Laojun at noon, and aside from the secluded villas owned by the wealthy, there weren’t any luxury hotels on the mountain, so the trio simply chose a clean and tidy homestay inn to settle in. While going up the mountain, Ren He had specifically parked his pickup at the foot of the mountain and then took the sightseeing bus up. That way, after his bike ride down, he could drive back up, which would be much less troublesome.

Because they brought along an extra bicycle, the driver charged Ren He for three seats’ worth of fare and even teased while collecting the money, "Ever since Luo City produced a ’Good Driver,’ the number of people cycling has sure increased, eh? Young man, you look pretty strong; you must exercise often."

Ren He was actually a bit surprised by this; he hadn’t expected that in just a few days, even drivers up in the mountains had heard about it. But he wasn’t worried about revealing anything. After all, there were no cameras or surveillance equipment here, and even if people saw what he looked like after he rode, they would only have seen his face and not disclose it.

Cycling downhill could be accepted, but cycling uphill could kill you...

When checking in, the landlord asked, "How many rooms would you like?"

"Two," Ren He said.

As the landlord handed over the room cards, Xu Nuo took one and went upstairs by himself: "I’m going to put away my stuff first. You guys wait for me, okay?"

"You get back here!" Ren He said with a dark face, "We’re staying in one room..."

"Is that even possible?" Xu Nuo said in surprise.

Ren He always felt that although his relationship with Yang Xi had grown very close, taking that step was still a bit too early considering their age.

The three of them planned to go for a stroll with their luggage and then set out for the real hike at midnight. By the time they reached the summit, they would be able to witness the sunrise.

Ren He decided to get the task of downhill cycling done before climbing the mountain tonight. After completing it, he would be ready for the mountain climb. His Super Vision wasn’t limited to distance—it included night vision ability, so a winding mountain road without streetlights was no stress for him at all.

He hadn’t hidden from Yang Xi and Xu Nuo the real purpose of his trip, which was to enjoy downhill cycling. But the two had grown numb to it by now. After all, road cycling seems much simpler than the other stuff Ren He used to do, so they didn’t say much, just told him to be careful.

What Ren He didn’t mention was that he intended to maintain a cycling speed of 100 kilometers per hour!

What does that mean? Even cars don’t dare to maintain a speed of 100 on winding mountain roads—anyone who’s not a professional race car driver doing that is simply courting death, to say nothing of someone on a bicycle?

Thinking about him racing down the mountain road on a bicycle tonight, Ren He was getting excited!

As they wandered around, they stumbled upon a secluded alley with a villa bustling with cars coming and going. According to passing comments, it seemed a certain old master was celebrating his 70th birthday.

Ren He shrugged. Such events were common sights he was used to seeing. He even planned to buy a villa in Hainan in advance, not for the temperature, but for the fresh air. Thinking about the fear that severe smog in a few years induced made him realize he needed to prepare early.

The three turned around and left. At that moment, Huangfu Zhuri’s car was slowly driving up and entering the lane, muttering to himself as he drove, "Why’s that pickup parked down the mountain? I wanted to see what the owner looked like when I got up there."
