Chapter 48: Poison detoxified

Chapter 47

"I’m just good with weapons." Kaizen shrugged then walked forward to pick up the dagger he’d used to kill the beast which had its tip buried in the earth.

"Anyways you did a good job, we’ll make sure you get your fair share from this raid."

Already, the other hunters were already moving around and retrieving gem stones from the beasts corpses.

"Guys, look...these bears are just D-rank beasts." One of them called out, lifting a gem stone to show the rest.

The color of gemstones deferred based on the beast rank, Yellow gem stones came from E-rank and F-rank beasts, green gemstones came from D-rank beasts, red gemstone came from C-rank beasts, blue gemstones came from B-rank beasts, Purple gemstones came from A-rank beasts, and black gemstones came from S-rank beasts.

But even with that, sizes and energy varies, which is why some gemstones worth a lot more than some.

"Wait, you’re right. This means there are stronger beasts lurking inside." Given that it was a C-rank portal, they expected that there’d definitely be higher rank beasts in here.

"No wonder they seemed so easy to kill."

"I know right, even this kid managed to kill the biggest one."

"Alright everyone, gather the gems let’s get moving, we don’t have all day. Besides, we don’t know what creatures are waiting for us inside."

They all began walking in soon enough, everyone kept their weapons drawn, ready for whatever beast would suddenly jump at them. They kept walking, expecting to find Beasts, but there were none even after walking for several minutes. Thirty minutes had gone by and there was still no sign of a Beast.

Everyone soon noticed that they had stepped into a terrain filled with red flowers. The flowers were all spread out around the whole place, looking stunning in a hypnotizing way.

One of the female hunters was drawn to it, and she couldn’t resist plucking one of them. She leaned forward to pluck one flower.

"Don’t touch anything, those flowers could be poisonous." One of them warned her,but she didn’t listen.

"It’s just a flower, it looks harmless to me." She still plucked it and brought it closer to her nose, inhaling it softly and savouring it’s scent, but then she froze.

And right then, she raised her head to look at the rest, and everyone gasped in shock. Her nose was bleeding, not just her nose, her eyes, and then her ears. The effect was instant, and almost immediately...she collapsed to the floor, dying instantly.

One of the hunters rushed to her side, calling her name desperately as he shook her vigorously, but she was already gone, her face was pale white, her bloodshot eyes wide with the shock of death.

The hunters who held her turned to the rest and shook his head in disappointed, "She’s gone."

"How could a so called healer be so fucking careless, damn it." She was the supposed healer of the team, and now that she was gone, they were all in trouble. If anyone got severely injured, there’d be no way to save them.

"Everyone cover your nose, these flowers are poisonous." Stark yelled, and they all quickly did without a second thought.

"It’s too late, my poison has already penetrated your bodies the moment you stepped into this place." Something spoke, growing from the earth and forming into a creature they didn’t recognize. It had a sleek, black body with bone-like armor covering its chest and face. Blood-red horns curled from its head, glowing faintly with strange patterns. Its eyes burned red, sharp and focused, and red flowers grew unnaturally from its back

Some hunters hurriedly stepped back, and one of the hunters collapsed to his knee, breathing heavily. "He is right,I can already feel it."

"Is that a talking beast?"

"Who cares if it talks, didn’t you hear what it just said? We’ve been poisoned."

"I feel fine though."

"Me too."

"Ohh, not for long. That girl died because she sniffed in too much dosage, making it act faster than usual. You will all end up like her within the next ten minutes." The beast said, stretching it’s hands wide like he’d already won.

"That ten minutes Is enough to kill you, I’m sure the antidote is somewhere on your body." Stark said, lifting his hands as he summoned energy and prepared to attack the beast, but then he too collapsed on one knee, breathing heavily as blood began dripping from his nose.

"What’s happening? I can’t, I can’t use my magic. It feels so draining, what did you do?"

"You fool, you should have let me end my speech before you make your move. Hunters these days are so stupid. Your overconfidence would be the reason for your death. My poison works faster with mana. So the more mana you release, the faster it’s effect. You-all can try to kill me but you’ll be dead before you even lay a finger on me."

Stark groaned, trying hard to stand up, but his trembling legs were of no use. His eyes and ears had already started bleeding too. At this point, everyone had already started feeling the effects of the poison, except for one person, Kaizen.

His system window popped up,

[DANGEROUS TOXIN DETECTED]

[ACTIVATING DETOXIFICATION]

[WOULD YOU LIKE TO BUILD RESISTANCE TO THIS POISON?]

Kaizen stared blankly at the texts, just what else could this system do. It could actually dispel poison like it was nothing. He didn’t feel a thing, not from the poison and not from the detoxification process either.

"Yes." He whispered,

[YOU’RE NOW IMMUNE TO THE POISON]

[WOULD YOU LIKE A SAMPLE OF THIS POISON?]

A sample? What’s that mean? Well whatever, I have no time to think right now.

"Yes"

[POISON HAS BEEN ADDED TO SHOP, ITEMS FROM SHOP CAN BE PURCHASED WITH EXPERIENCE POINTS.]

It has a shop too? Damn this is incredible.

"Hey, white-haired kid, how come you’re fine?" Kaizen’s attention was cut off when one of the hunters who was clutching his chest called out to him. It was then Kaizen turned and noticed that he was the only one still standing.

Everyone were already on their knees while some had already collapsed completely, groaning as their organs bled.

Oh shit.

"He mentioned that the poison works faster with mana, and I have none, so I guess it will take more time to work on me."

"Then why don’t you attack and help us get the antidote from him?" One of them barked, his tone desperate and shaky.
