Chapter 88: Chapter 88 Hope You Can Step Up

An injured mid-stage Ghostly Level Demon Evil was not difficult for several Demon Hunters to deal with, as long as they were not too careless.

As the one who set this up, this is all I can do. I hope you all can perform well and not let my few Merit Points go to waste.

Walking on the street, Shen Changqing felt much more relaxed.

The Zhou Family’s mansion was huge.

In such a situation, the Demon Evil was able to attack me without any restraint. It was then obvious that the thing possessed by the Demon Evil was not on a person, but within the Zhou Family’s residence. This indicated that once the Demon Evil was left in the Zhou Family’s residence, no one cared for it. No matter what the person who placed the Demon Evil there was thinking, it’s unlikely they would return to the Zhou Family in the short term to reclaim the Demon Evil. And from the situation with Xu Yi and the others, their time to act would be around today or tomorrow.

Therefore, Shen Changqing was not worried that if he injured the Demon Evil, it would run away or be taken away by someone.

Within the Demon Evil Clan, there is a strict hierarchy. That Demon Evil acts on someone else’s orders and, without permission, wouldn’t dare to leave on its own accord.

After leaving the Zhou Family’s ancestral home, Shen Changqing did not return to Tianyi Tower but wandered around Jincheng. He seemed relaxed on the surface, but inwardly, he wasn’t truly at ease.

If Wanhua Building is an Eternal Alliance Stronghold, then it’s very possible that the Demon Evil in the Zhou Family’s ancestral home does not belong to the Eternal Alliance. If that’s the case, the Demon Evil forces in Jincheng might have to be divided into two groups.

Shen Changqing looked at the bustling streets, extending his senses in an attempt to detect any Yin Evil Aura. At the same time, he was contemplating the affairs of the Zhou Family and Wanhua Building.

The internal affairs of the Demon Evil were complicated. I myself also know little about them. The Eternal Alliance was only one of the forces created by the Demonfolk after splitting from the Human Clan, but it was not the only Demon Evil force. However, in the eyes of the Human Clan, no matter how many forces the Demon Evil split into, there was no significant difference. Demon Evils were Demon Evils; even if divided into countless forces, they were all collectively referred to as Demon Evils. Only the Eternal Alliance was the cancer that Great Qin took seriously. There are Demonfolk in the Eternal Alliance, and some Demonfolk mingle among the Human Clan, causing trouble in secret. Great Qin has had many internal conflicts over the years, with Demonfolk causing trouble behind the scenes being the root cause.

Therefore, Great Qin and the Demon-Subduing Division’s most desired goal was to eradicate those Demonfolk who aided the wicked.

「Meanwhile」

Xu Yi and the others had also arrived at the Zhou Family mansion.

In the main hall, Old Master Zhou sat at the head seat on the left, with Xu Yi sitting at the head seat on the right. Tian Feibai and the other two were seated in order below.

"For the Demon-Subduing Division to send people is beyond my expectations," Old Master Zhou smiled cheerfully and gestured with his teacup. "With Lord Xu and the others taking action, that Demon Evil will surely have no way to escape. I shall offer this tea as a toast to you all!"

"Old Master, you’re too kind!" Xu Yi likewise picked up his teacup, a faint smile on his face.

He took a sip and then set the teacup down.

Xu Yi asked, "We have come here to exterminate Demon Evils and prevent the people of Jincheng from suffering their harm. Since the Zhou Family has had quite a few encounters with Demon Evils, I wonder how much you know about them. Perhaps Old Master Zhou could share some insights so that we can have a clearer understanding."

When he finished speaking, Tian Feibai and the others also turned their gazes toward Old Master Zhou. It was not their first visit to the Zhou Family; the last time they came, Old Master Zhou was absent, so they had returned today. Regarding the Demon Evil, they had already received some intelligence from the Heavenly Inspection Guard. The purpose of their return to the Zhou Family mansion was simply to reconfirm what they had learned.

Hearing this, Old Master Zhou pondered for a moment, recalling certain matters. After a long time, his eyes filled with deep wariness and fear, as if he was recalling some unpleasant events.

"Speaking of that Demon Evil," he began, "I don’t know much either. Half a month ago, people in the Zhou Family started disappearing one after another at night. No matter how we searched, we couldn’t find them. Yet, come daylight, the people who disappeared at night would reappear. Their corpses had all turned into desiccated husks and were found lying in the back garden. Suddenly, tales of the Demon Evil causing trouble began to spread. Many servants and Maids, fearing the Demon Evil, resolutely stopped working and left. My Zhou Family was also thrown into turmoil, and we had no choice but to move out of our ancestral home."

Having said a lot in one breath, Old Master Zhou was somewhat out of breath. He took a sip of tea to moisten his throat.

"Ever since then, my Zhou Family has temporarily moved out of our ancestral home. Though no more deaths occurred, it’s disgraceful for a large Jincheng family like ours to be driven out by a Demon Evil. I then mobilized resources, posted notices, and attracted many Jianghu experts in hopes of eliminating that Demon Evil. Unfortunately, many of those Jianghu experts met their end at the Demon Evil’s hands. If you sirs are going to take action against the Demon Evil, you also need to be cautious."

In the end, Old Master Zhou offered a reminder.

Xu Yi did not respond, but Tian Feibai sneered, "Old Master, you seem to underestimate the people from the Demon-Subduing Division. It’s just a minor Demon Evil, after all. How much trouble could it possibly stir up? We are not comparable to those so-called Jianghu experts."

Upon hearing this statement, Old Master Zhou’s face showed an embarrassed expression. "Lord Tian is correct; I was indeed being overly cautious."

Xu Yi cleared his throat lightly. Tian Feibai, who had intended to say more, had no choice but to close his mouth.

When he stopped speaking, Xu Yi refocused his attention on Old Master Zhou.

"We heard that the young lady of your residence returned from the Yi Sword Sect yesterday and even personally went to the Zhou ancestral home last night to confront the Demon Evil. We would like to meet with Miss Zhou to understand the specific circumstances of the Demon Evil."

"Er..." Old Master Zhou was taken aback. He hadn’t expected that the events of the previous night had reached the ears of Xu Yi and the others so quickly.

Immediately after, he regained his composure. "It is true. My daughter indeed visited the Zhou ancestral home last night, but unfortunately, she was grievously injured upon her return and is currently bedridden at home, unable to come and meet you."

"Since Miss Zhou is bedridden, we naturally have no reason to make her get up. May I know where Miss Zhou is? We can go to her instead," Xu Yi said, standing up as if ready to leave immediately.

Seeing this, Old Master Zhou had no choice but to agree, nodding. "If you sirs are adamant about meeting her, then I shall lead you there."

"Much obliged," Xu Yi nodded.

The group then followed Old Master Zhou toward a wing room within the Zhou residence.

As they approached the wing room, they could occasionally hear coughing. Hearing the coughing, Old Master Zhou’s previously slow pace quickened.

He pushed the door and entered. A rich scent of medicine filled the air. Behind a screen, the indistinct shadow of a person could be seen lying down.

"Qin’er, are you all right?" Old Master Zhou walked behind the screen and asked with concern.

Zhou Qin, who was lying on the bed, shook her head slightly. Her pretty face was pale and devoid of color.

"Father, are there visitors outside?" Although she was injured and her strength greatly diminished, she could still detect the complex pattern of the approaching footsteps.

Old Master Zhou nodded slightly, then whispered some words into Zhou Qin’s ear. After seeing Zhou Qin nod in agreement, he came out from behind the screen and addressed Xu Yi and the others with a cupped-hand salute. "Sirs, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask."

"Alright!" Xu Yi and the others glanced at each other and then looked past the screen to see Zhou Qin lying on the bed.

With just one glance, the hearts of two of the men jolted, and their gazes softened considerably. Zhou Qin, despite her pallor, combined with her lovely features, involuntarily elicited a feeling of tender pity.

But very quickly, they all frowned slightly. They could clearly sense a persisting Yin Evil Aura on Zhou Qin’s body. It was indeed this Yin Evil Aura that made her so weak.

"Miss Zhou, you were injured in the fight with that Demon Evil?" Xu Yi asked in a grave voice.

Zhou Qin nodded, her voice weak and powerless. "I underestimated that Demon Evil’s strength, never expecting it to be so formidable. Had I not retreated swiftly, I likely would have perished there. Now, with this Yin Energy clinging to me, all I can do is wait for a solution."

"The Yin Energy clinging to you requires an expert to drive it out with True Qi; otherwise, it’s difficult to completely eradicate. One needs to be at least of the Innate Realm to accomplish this. We have heard that Miss Zhou is from the Yi Sword Sect. The Yi Sword Sect should have no shortage of Innate Realm experts."

"I have already sent someone to inform my sect. It shouldn’t be long before someone arrives," Zhou Qin said weakly, then continued, "Sirs, you’ve come to learn about the Demon Evil at the Zhou ancestral home. I don’t know much about the Demon Evil, having only encountered it briefly. The information I can provide may not satisfy your expectations."

Xu Yi smiled. "No matter, Miss Zhou. Just tell us what you can."

"Very well." Zhou Qin nodded, then detailed what had happened the night before.

After she finished, the expressions on Xu Yi and the others became more solemn. From Zhou Qin’s account, combined with the information previously provided by the Heavenly Inspection Guard, it was clear that the opponent was not weak, having reached the mid-stage of Pulse Condensation. Even so, she was gravely injured by the Demon Evil and eventually forced to flee in disarray.

For a moment, their wariness of the Demon Evil in the Zhou ancestral home rose a level as various thoughts surged through their minds.

Xu Yi’s expression soon returned to normal. "Thank you, Miss Zhou, for enlightening us. We now have a general understanding of the Demon Evil. It won’t be long before we exterminate it and restore peace and order to Jincheng. Since Miss Zhou is unwell, we will not disturb you any further. Farewell."

With that, he cupped his hand to Old Master Zhou again. Then, he led Tian Feibai and the others away.

"Let me see you out, Sirs!" Old Master Zhou said, hurrying after them. Soon, the room quieted down.
