Chapter 236: Chapter 238: Stubbornness_1
This caused displeasure among the roommates, with Lv Qian worried about being bitten and Xue Sufen complaining about the filth.
"I’ll wash the cat right now." Li Qiao fetched hot water and wore rubber gloves to bathe the cat.
Ma Hongxiang stepped forward to help, and the two had just finished cleaning the cat.
The dormitory supervisor auntie burst in, shouting, "Who allowed you to bring a cat into the dormitory? Who will be responsible if it bites someone? Clean this up and take it away!"
Li Qiao hurriedly apologized, promising to send the cat away immediately.
The dormitory supervisor auntie was still not satisfied, continuing her rant, "If you dare to bring in any cats or dogs again, I’ll report you to your teacher."
"Alright, auntie, I’m on it," Li Qiao said.
"Humph!" The dormitory supervisor auntie left.
Lv Qian curled the corner of her mouth, finally someone is dealing with you.
...
Li Qiao dried the cat’s body and tucked the towel-wrapped feline into her arms to head home.
It was bitterly cold; the north wind howled, bringing with it flurries of snowflakes.
Li Qiao’s feet stamped the ground with cold as she reached the doorway, taking out her keys to open the door, and found lights on inside. Who was at her home?
"Dahuang~"
"Qiaoqiao." Qin Jin appeared in her field of vision, running faster than the dog Dahuang.
Li Qiao was both shocked and delighted, "Aren’t you at home taking care of grandma?"
Qin Jin: "Grandma is much better now and doesn’t need looking after. She was worried about my accounting exam, urging me to come over for your tutoring."
"The accounting exam isn’t urgent; if I fail, I can retake it," Li Qiao said.
Meow~
A cat’s meow emanated from Li Qiao’s embrace.
Qin Jin’s attention shifted, "What’s that noise?"
"A cat I picked up," Li Qiao said as she entered the house and took the cat out of her embrace.
The cat, upon seeing the dog, bristled its fur and retreated under the bed.
The dog followed suit, crawling in after it.
Li Qiao scolded sharply, and the dog exited from under the bed, lying obediently on its mat.
Qin Jin: "Finding the cat is just right, there’s a mouse in the kitchen." He added, "Did you build that snowman in the yard? It looks like a ghost, it gave me a scare in broad daylight."
Li Qiao chuckled lightly, telling him about the burglary at her home last night. He burst into laughter upon hearing it, "Silly thief!" After his laughter, he opened the wardrobe, taking out a newly bought lightweight coat. Still in bright red, matched with a black belt, a knee-length skirt underneath, the same color as the coat. "It’s good for warmer weather."
Li Qiao gasped, feeling a sense of fashion from the eighties and nineties, like a Hong Kong movie star. "You have a really good eye."
"It took me a long time to choose it," Qin Jin said, his lips involuntarily curling up at the compliment.
Eager to try it on, Li Qiao let down her hair and took a few steps before turning back and casting a sultry glance, "Do I look good? Do I seem like a mature woman?" It would be perfect with a pair of high heels to sashay in style.
Qin Jin’s eyes went wide; with her long hair flowing and her curvy figure, she looked very enticing. "Beautiful!" Like a fairy, no, a seductress! She had hooked his soul. In a lower voice, he said, "Let’s get some rest early today, I am thinking..."
"Even if you’re thinking, it’s not possible," Li Qiao replied seriously, firmly rejecting him: "I have an accelerated exam this week in the morning, and my class’s final exam in the afternoon. I’m busy."
She yawned, using tiredness as an excuse to rest and took off the new clothes.
The next day, she continued with exams and finished tutoring Qin Jin in accounting.
The profound topics were beyond his understanding.
Li Qiao explained tirelessly, left and right, "Still don’t get it?"
Qin Jin looked bewildered.
Li Qiao sighed.
Thinking she was frustrated with his slowness, Qin Jin’s expression darkened.
Li Qiao: "Our school library has very comprehensive materials, come with me tomorrow, and I’ll start teaching you from the beginning with the materials I find."
Qin Jin: "I’m not going!" Let her classmates know, won’t they laugh at her? Couldn’t he just memorize formulas by rote?
Li Qiao suddenly got angry. It didn’t matter that he didn’t understand after she taught him over ten times; at the very least, he should have some desire to learn.
He was actually giving up!
She wouldn’t allow it: "You have to go."
"Anyway, I’m not going," Qin Jin said.
Li Qiao was furious: "If you’re not going, get out!" She pushed him out the door and locked him out.
Leaving the warmth of the heating, Qin Jin felt a chill. He knocked on the door, "Do you want to freeze your loving husband to death?"
"Freezing to death would be a relief!"
Qin Jin: "...."
Then he suddenly felt an urge to pee and turned to leave for the toilet.
Li Qiao watched him through the window. What was he up to? Throwing a tantrum and running away from home?
After using the toilet, Qin Jin bumped into Old Mr. Xue, who was carrying a thermos. "Jin is back, huh."
"Sir Xue, hello, are you heading to my place?"
Old Mr. Xue: "Yes, Sufen told me Qiaoqiao is skipping a grade for an exam, and she’d definitely skimp on her meals if she’s alone. I had Madam Xue make some chicken soup to help her nourish herself. Why did you come out wearing so little?" He paused, then chuckled, "Your wife kicked you out, didn’t she?"
Qin Jin cleared his throat and brought the old man home. It would be really embarrassing if Qiaoqiao didn’t open the door for him. He pretended to be deep in thought, "I locked her inside the house!"
....
After not seeing Qin Jin for a while, Li Qiao worried he might catch a cold, so she got dressed in her coat and brought his cotton-padded clothes, ready to go out and look for him. Just as she stepped out of the door, she came face to face with Qin Jin: "Are you cold?"
Qin Jin’s lips barely curled into a smile; she couldn’t help but feel pity for him, right? He gave a light shiver and said, "Cold, I’m nearly freezing to death."
Old Mr. Xue couldn’t help but laugh, saying he was right about Qin being kicked out, yet Qin had stubbornly claimed he had locked her inside instead.
Li Qiao handed him the clothing: "Then hurry up and put it on," then she greeted Old Mr. Xue.
Old Mr. Xue shook the thermos in his hand, "Come in and drink some."
Li Qiao thanked him and invited Old Mr. Xue into the kitchen to sit down. She moved a stool and poured two bowls of soup, one for herself and one for Qin Jin.
The white soup was aromatic and rich, the chicken meat tender and steaming.
She said, "It’s delicious, and the meat is good too."
"Especially made by Madam Xue for you," he said.
Li Qiao thought to herself that even though Madam Xue had issues with her, Sir Xue still managed to persuade her to make soup. Hopefully, he hadn’t agreed to any harsh conditions. She brought out an unopened jar of beef sauce and Laba garlic to give to Old Mr. Xue.
"Did you make this?"
"The beef sauce was made by Grandma, you can mix it with noodles to eat; the garlic is my own doing," Li Qiao said.
Old Mr. Xue accepted them and waited for the couple to finish the chicken soup before leaving.
The young couple smiled as they sent Old Mr. Xue off. Once the old man was out of sight, Li Qiao withdrew her gaze and faced Qin Jin’s smiling expression; she instantly dropped her smile, her face darkened, and she turned to go back inside.
She had only taken a couple of steps before being hugged from behind, "Qiaoqiao, don’t be mad."
Li Qiao used the self-defense techniques she’d learned to deal with him, lifting her leg to stomp on his foot. He reflexively stepped back, and as she prepared to stomp on his other foot, she still missed.
Li Qiao turned and pretended to twist his arm, but he stretched out a leg and tripped her, causing her to fall into his embrace uncontrollably.
Damn!
Why hadn’t her self-defense worked?
"Finally couldn’t hold back and threw yourself into my arms, huh? As your partner, I will definitely satisfy you." Qin Jin bent over and lifted her in a princess carry, "Even with all these clothes, you’re still light."
Li Qiao struggled by kicking her legs about and scolded, "Shameless hooligan! Hurry up and put me down, someone might see us."
Qin Jin: "What does a hooligan need face for? Let them see." He was carrying his own wife in his home’s courtyard, who were they bothering?
