Chapter 418: Third and Fourth

(Third Person POV)

[Some Time Later]

"You’re doing great, Maegelle." Mya said as she held Maegelle’s hand, "Just keep pushing, we’re almost there."

"L-Lady Mya....." Maegelle was sweating profusely as she grimaced, "This is different than Vaella’s....."

"I know." Mya said as she patted her head, "You’re doing great. We’re nearly done."

"Where is Drakken....???" Maegelle panted

"He’ll be here shortly, don’t worry." Mya told her

Maegelle was undergoing her labors, and Mya was there helping her, while the midwives were doing their best to deliver the children. Unlike Vaella’s birth, Maegelle felt that these labors were particularly tough. However, despite that, she was experiencing no other issues, and the labors were progressing well.

Suddenly, there was the sound of crying as one of the nurses let out a slight gasp, "Here it is!" She said, "There you go....."

Maegelle let out a sigh of relief as the sound of loud crying was heard, "Oh...." She said as she panted, "H-He is out....?"

Mya looked at the midwives as they were cleaning the crying child, wiping his face and arms with clean rags.

"Is the child well?" She asked

"Yes, Lady Mya." one of them said, "It is a healthy boy."

"A boy?" Mya could not help but smile, "That is amazing."

"T-The second one?" Maegelle asked as she panted, "What about the second one?"

"I see it!" one of the midwives said as she was looking in between her legs, "Keep pushing, Lady Maegelle!"

Mya felt Maegelle’s hand grip on her even more tightly as she groaned slightly, "Oh!" She said, "Easy, Maegelle...."

"Ahh....." Maegelle said softly

After what felt like several minutes, the midwife suddenly straightened up as Mya saw that she was holding another child in her arms. This one appeared to be slightly smaller than the first one who was still crying. The second one didn’t seem to be crying much, which worried Mya.

She narrowed her eyes to see that the child was yawning instead of crying, which was a bit strange.

"Another son." the midwife said, "Twin boys."

Maegelle was panting, "Boys...? Both of them?"

Mya smiled, "Amazing, Maegelle." She said, "Twin sons."

The midwives were cleaning the boys up as one of them cried, while the other simply yawned, rubbing his cheek.

"I...." Maegelle said as she tried sitting up straight, "P-Please, let me see them....."

One of the midwives walked up to her, carrying the first one who was crying, "A healthy cry, a healthy boy, My Lady."

She handed the boy to Maegelle, who immediately took him in her arms, causing his crying to slow down. Mya couldn’t help but lean over to see the boy’s face, seeing that he resembled Vaella when she was born.

"White hair....." Mya said with a smile

Maegelle smiled as she held the boy, "My son...." She said softly as tears formed in her eyes, "He’s so...perfect....."

The boy opened his eyes slightly, revealing mismatched eyes similar to Vaella. However, unlike Vaella, the colors were swapped. The boy’s right eye was red while his left was purple in which Vaella’s right was purple and her left was red.

"Beautiful eyes...." Mya said softly

"Yes...." Maegelle said as she looked up, "M-My other son?"

The midwife walked over to them, "He’s here, My Lady." She said, "He’s a quiet one. It is strange, I have never seen anything like it. Normally, I’d be worried....but he seems fine."

As Mya reached for the boy, the doors opened and Drakken walked in, followed by Saera.

"I am so sorry, Sister!" Saera exclaimed, "Astorias wanted to fly to the Stepstones and I couldn’t refuse her! Are we late???"

"They just came out." Mya said with a smile

"It is fine, Saera...." Maegelle said

Drakken walked up to the midwife who held the second boy, "Hm." He said as he stopped and looked at him, "He’s the one? Hand him over."

Mya looked at him, "My Lord?"

Drakken took the boy in his arms, holding him steady and carefully as he looked at him with a serious expression. Saera stood next to him and her face softened as she looked at the boy.

"Oh my....." Saera said softly, "He’s so beautiful...."

Drakken narrowed his eyes, "You are the one." He said, "You hid from my senses, little one. How did you do it?"

The boy rubbed his cheek and slowly opened his eyes, revealing mismatched eyes exactly like Vaella’s. His right eye was purple while his left was red.

However, there was something very unusual that Saera was taken aback by.

"W-What?" She said softly, "Drakken, his eye...."

"What?" Drakken said

Maegelle immediately looked up, "What’s wrong?" She asked, getting worried instantly, "What is wrong with him?"

Drakken looked at his red eye, seeing that there were two merged pupils in it, "Hm." He said, "This?"

"Is that bad?" Saera asked with a frown, "Is it deformed?"

"Polycoria." Drakken said, "It’s a rare ocular condition. He’s fine."

"What?" Mya leaned over to see, "Oh. Ohh, my....."

"What is it?" Maegelle asked

"His eye, Maegelle." Mya told her as she gently touched the boy’s cheek, "It appears to be.....unusual. But if Lord Drakken says it is fine, then it should be fine."

"Polycoria may present visual impairments to ordinary people." Drakken said, "But this one is no ordinary person, is he? He is my son."

Drakken then glanced at the other son, who was staring right at his mother while cooing, all while Maegelle was looking at Drakken with a worried look on her face.

"The one you’re holding seems bigger, sister." Saera said, "And this one is a bit smaller.....but they both seem fine...white hair, the two of them. Mismatched eyes.....like Vaella."

"Right...." Maegelle said softly

"Their names?" Drakken asked

Maegelle looked at the one she was holding, "This one is Maekar." She said softly, "My beautiful Maekar..."

"And this one?" Mya asked with a smile, gently touching the other one’s hand

"Maelor....." Maegelle looked at Drakken with a smile, "If that is okay."

"Fine by me." Drakken said with a shrug, "I told you that you could name them."

Maegelle nodded and looked at Maekar, "They’re my sons...." She said softly as she leaned down and kissed him on the forehead, "My beautiful boys...."

"I am so happy...."
