Chloe Collins replied and then turned to check her mailbox.
She received files and opened one for browsing.
The prominent "Taylors" caught her eye.
Her gaze drifted to the side, unhurried, and she asked, "What are you doing?"
Robert Foster chuckled and moved his eyes away from the fleeting text, offering a skewer of freshly grilled meat, "Sis, have a bite, it’s spicy and delicious."
Chloe calmly logged out of her inbox, glanced at him and asked, "What’s up?"
Robert sat down beside her, "Nothing much, but you spend the entire day with Wanda Wesley, right? Do you know what’s going on with her lately? She seems gloomy all the time."
At these words, Chloe glanced at Wanda Wesley nearby, who looked preoccupied.
"I don’t know."
"Even you don’t know..." Robert hung his head, looking a bit downcast.
Robert sighed, stood up, and took the plate of grilled meat away with him.
Chloe: "→_→"
Meanwhile, Rosalind Taylor arrived at the West Wing to find Cherry Foster in the midst of venting to her parents, her demeanor far from happy.
"Grandfather dotes on her more than me, she got first place and he gave her a car, worth ten million dollars!"
Her father responded, "Didn’t your grandfather say he would also buy a car for you?"
"Yes, but the condition was that I should get admitted to the Capitol University Department of Mathematics!"
Both parents’ expressions immediately turned sour.
Rosalind suddenly didn’t want to go inside; as Chloe Collins’ stepmother, it wasn’t appropriate for her to join them when they were clearly upset.
Judging she should leave, she was about to turn away when Sophia Ford spotted her.
"Isn’t this Mrs. Collins? How are you alone? Where’s your child?"
Rosalind gave a light smile, "My child is still young, I didn’t bring him."
"You look like you were about to leave? Don’t hurry, come and sit down."
With the conversation having reached this point, Rosalind walked over and sat next to her.
Once she sat down, she noticed she wasn’t feeling very comfortable here either.
The Fosters had always seemed to her haughty and disdainful, overlooking everyone else.
Of course, as the most powerful family in the country, they had the capacity to be.
As soon as she took her seat, Cherry stood up.
Seizing the opportunity, she said, "Cherry, Raine is here too. Why don’t you go and play with her?"
Sophia chuckled, "Our Cherry needs to prepare for her exams; she doesn’t have much time to play."
"That may be true, but you also need to balance work and leisure, right? Raine is going abroad for a competition tomorrow and she is still enjoying herself."
"One who stays near vermilion gets stained red, and one who stays near ink gets stained black." Sophia lazily tossed out this comment.
Rosalind’s expression darkened slightly.
The falling out between Cherry Foster and Raine Nolan wasn’t a secret, everyone knew about it.
There hadn’t been any direct conflict between the two; however, after multiple errors on Raine’s part, Cherry had chosen to distance herself, causing quite an ugly scene.
This issue had been weighing on Rosalind’s mind for a while.
She despised the feeling of being looked down upon.
After a moment’s thought, she looked at Sophia, her smile returning with poise.
"Let the kids handle their issues, our intervention as adults won’t do any good. Speaking of which, are you still busy with investments lately?"
Sophia cast her a glance, "Why, are you interested?"
Rosalind smiled slightly, "I do have a good opportunity here, I’m just not sure if you’d like to take a gamble?"
"Let’s hear it." Sophia glanced at her husband and said.
Rosalind said lightly, "It’s my family’s company, the Taylors."
The couple understood instantly.
