Chapter 801
Heijii leaned in and whispered, "This here is the Third Fleet. Just across the wall is the Watford Complex and Righteous Plaza, used collectively. Most of the novice training and power gradings happen over there."
Wanda Wesley chuckled, "Seems like a school."
Heijii replied, "You can think of it that way. The model here is indeed somewhat similar to a school."
While the two were talking, Chloe Collins had already taken a close look at everything visible in the surrounding area.
It didn’t look much different from the other branches.
Her eyes fell on the notice board, which was slowly going over this month’s performance announcements.
Suddenly, a gray-aged image flashed before her eyes—a sixteen-year-old version of her, being hung up on the big screen for public ridicule.
Sweat and blood mixed together, dripping out from her mask below a crowd of grotesquely masked faces, all of them laughing and pointing at her.
Her train of thought was suddenly interrupted by an announcement over the loudspeaker.
"Announcement, announcement, all Team Leaders immediately assemble all new recruits of February at Righteous Plaza."
With the end of the announcement, everyone here consciously lined up under the notice board.
Chloe Collins and her two companions also walked over and stood at the end of the line.
Most of the people who were loitering outside just now were newcomers, and once they all gathered, the surrounding area immediately quieted down.
Initially, it felt a bit like a school, but once it quieted down, it felt more like a military camp.
Competing with a serious sense of solemnity.
In a while, a man wearing a monkey mask came out and stood in front of the three rows of people and began to speak.
"You all remember me, right? I’m your team leader. You can call me Monkey or Great Saint. After two days of settling in, you should have enough understanding of this place. Today will be the first day of your official training. In a while, we’ll assemble at Righteous Plaza. No one is allowed to wander off or speak without my permission."
Before he had finished speaking, someone had lightly pulled at Chloe Collins’s rainbow-colored clothes.
More accurately, someone had pulled at the wings attached to her back.
She didn’t react or turn around.
The person behind her didn’t seem content and yanked her wings a couple of times with more force.
She was sure, it wasn’t Wanda Wesley or Heijii, but the person on her right.
After yanking at her wings, the other person chuckled quietly.
The surroundings were already quiet with only the team leader speaking. As she laughed, the team leader paused, which made her laughter seem particularly loud.
"Who’s laughing?" The Monkey Team Leader asked sternly.
The person next to her didn’t behave and even raised her hand.
"Reporting, team leader, it’s me!" The voice sounded like an energetic girl who couldn’t be very old.
"Step forward!" Monkey Team Leader said.
The girl came forward and introduced herself, "Hello everyone, my name is Faye Armstrong, sixteen years old, nice to meet you all!"
Her voice carried a hint of pride.
Monkey Team Leader: "Did I allow you to speak? Lacking discipline!"
Faye Armstrong saluted him like a soldier, then said, "Reporting, I didn’t mean to laugh, it’s just that someone’s clothes were too funny. I have a low sense of humor. If you’re going to lecture someone, she deserves it too."
Monkey Team Leader glanced over, "Step forward."
Chloe Collins silently stepped out. She wasn’t as snappy as Faye Armstrong had been just now like a soldier facing her superior. There was no laziness, an ordinary display, like a bewildered, fragile newcomer.
