His Toxic Addiction
Chapter 50: Morning Fever?

Chapter 50: Morning Fever?

"Oh shit!" Lucas cursed as he rushed out of the car to stop every possible picture to be taken. This would be bad.

Why would his boss be this careless? Did he not care about the possibility of a planned gunshot?

Walking with long noble steps, Nicklaus went across the road and into the restaurant. He entered the restaurant without a care in the world or his status and luckily for him, there were not many people in the restaurant.

With a frown, he held Collins’s gaze. Feeling the dark aura around, Collins turned to the angle of the bloodlust stare and his jaw almost dropped.

Nicklaus Wyatt? What’s he doing here?

Nicklaus walked over to the table they were seated at with Lucas who just caught up beside him. He stood beside Arissa and if looks kill, there would have been screams in there because he would not just kill Collins but would have cut him into ruthless pieces.

Feeling the wired atmosphere and how Collins did not take his eyes off the spot beside her, she turned to take a look at who he was looking at.

Turning to her side, Arissa was tongue-tied seeing who was beside her.

Her eyelashes flickered with surprise, "Nick.. Nicklaus?" she stuttered as she stood up.

’Why am I feeling like I was doing something bad?’ she thought.

"Wifey," Nicklaus called casually as he tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear in a loving way and Arissa could not help but shiver.

She frowned as she looked into his eyes to know if it was some imposter but no!....it was her very Nicklaus that was before her.

Nicklaus gently made her seat before joining her. Sitting beside her, Nicklaus did not take his eyes off her face. "I told you to rest. You were unwell," his face was like that of a caring husband worried about his little wife, and all this time, Collins sat down there staring at Nicklaus calmly as he did well in hiding his hatred for this man.

Arissa’s mouth hung open with stupefaction.

"You were unwell?" Collins chimed in as he announced his presence and cut Arissa off her thoughts.

Arissa took her eyes off Nicklaus and turned to Collins, "It was a minor morning fever," Arissa pointed out.

Collins’s heart dropped to his stomach and his expression turned ugly. Morning fever?

Collins knows what that signifies. And with how Arissa had been smiling since she got here - he gulped.

That only meant one thing, especially with how loving the ruthless Mr. Wyatt was to her. Was Arissa pregnant?

No. Impossible. They have not been together for even a month so, how would a loveless marriage blossom so fast?

Nicklaus turned his face away from Arissa and with a cold voice he pinpointed, "And you are Dr. Collins,"

"I am," Collins answered, as he tried to catch a glimpse of Arissa’s stomach that was peeking out of her wrap-up crop top and cargo pant.

Nicklaus stretched his hand out to Collins like ’the gentleman’ he was or was trying to be and with inner anger, Collins accepted Nicklaus’s handshake.

And as if staged, both men took their hands off at the same time and the handshake did not even last a second.

"Nice meeting you in person Mr Wyatt," Collins said with sarcasm in his voice and Arissa’s brows lifted at his tune.

Collins was always so nice so, what’s it today?

Nicklaus smiled hearing Collins’s voice and tune. And with a light kiss on Arissa’s forehead, he turned to Collins, "My ’wife’ told me a lot about you. I must say you have been quietly helpful to her," Nicklaus claimed, stressing the ’wife’ more like someone marking his boundaries.

Collins’s face fell with the kiss display and Nicklaus smirked when he saw he passed his message effectively without words.

Arissa blinked at the comfortable feeling that came with Nicklaus’s lips on her forehead. It felt so good that she does not even have time to frown at the act.

"I’m glad I was there when she needed me,"

Arissa felt confused with the action going on before her. Not wanting to have a line in it, she picked up her spoon and continued her ice cream.

Nicklaus’s smirk fell at Collins’s words. He turned his face over to Arissa who was sweetly eating her ice cream. Somehow, Collins’s words riled him up.

"Your pay?" Nicklaus demanded facing Collins and this got Arissa’s attention because she stopped what she was doing and raised her face.

’What pay? Have they met before?’

"What pay?" Collins asked a bit confused.

Nicklaus beckoned on Lucas who handed him a checkbook and a pen. Fliping off the pen cover," For all the help you offered to my wife," yes, he does not want her in-depth to no one but him.

Collins’s face turned red with embarrassment as he turned to Arissa. Was this the kind of arrogant idiot she got married to?

Arissa’s palm felt sweaty as she turned to Nicklaus. What’s all this and has he gone insane?

Turning to Collins, "I had a great day but right now, I have to go. I would call you when I’m home," she apologized to Collins for Nicklaus’s embarrassment and also promised him.

Collins nodded his head to her and turned to Nicklaus and passed him a smile but without hiding the fact he doesn’t like him, Nicklaus frowned at him rather than smiling back.

"Let’s go wifey," Nicklaus ordered sweetly as he stood up and held Arissa up and just immediately, lots of cameras flashed on their faces.

Since the seats were couch sets facing each other, it was hard to see outside your space and that was what happened and kept them uninformed until now.

Arissa stilled.

She froze seeing all of those cameras.

Nicklaus hissed. How did all of this pest get in here? Was he so into the chat not to notice?

He turned to Lucas and knowing what to do, Lucas nodded at him. And as if protecting his life, Lucas led them out of the restaurant single-handedly and unscratched.

It was hard but they managed to do it swiftly before more arrive in frightening numbers.

Getting into the car, Arissa rubbed her forehead before turning to Nicklaus. "Nicklaus! That’s going to trend," she informed him as if he was unaware.

"Who cares if it trends?" he asked her as he likewise rubbed his template tiredly. These paparazzi need to leave the world at times.

"I do care, Nicklaus. What the hell do you think you were doing?"

Nicklaus turned to her shocked. Is she ashamed of him or the marriage? Most women would kill to have him and her she was ranting over photos.

"Our marriage is private and not a secret Arissa," he emphasized letting her know they were bounded by law and also, the difference between private and secret.

Arissa sigh as she swallowed the bitter pill of truth. "Was that why you are following me?" she asked glaring at him for the ’eye opening’.

"I told you to report your health to me but you did not so, here I am," he lied casually and at the same time, burying that topic about following. He possibly can’t tell her right now that she might be in potential danger and that’s why he’s taking extra measures.

Not until he knows the other party following her around. And surely, the reasons involved.

Arissa swallowed as she stared at his Adam’s apple taking her mind off the crime he just committed. She would get even with him and that was sure but for now, she just had to think of an apology to Collins and to make him understand that she never invited this asshoe along with her.
