His Toxic Addiction
Chapter 48: Your head.

Chapter 48: Your head.

Logan watched Alfred from across the room intensely. He had always looked up to Alfred and took him as an idol when it comes to the game but sadly, the man is no longer as high as he held him to be.

Tsk seems like old age caught up with him or he was a little too greedy to think straight.

"Why don’t you add the police to your search for Adele?" Logan suggested, "Cheif commands them right?" he asked mockingly but Alfred was too relaxed and dumb to notice the mockery in Logan’s tune.

Alfred frowned, "I’d double your pay and pay you this instant." he assured.

Logan lifted his eyes to Alfred and not saying anything, he lifted his glass to his lips and took a slow luxurious sip.

Watching how nonchalantly Logan was seated taking luxurious sips from his wine glass, the little hope in Alfred’s eyes disappeared, "Just give me the fucking address," he commanded almost screaming as he lost his cool. This conversation wasn’t supposed to last for five minutes but now, it was almost an hour. He has things to do but Logan takes pleasure to delay him by being snobbish.

"Language Alfred," Logan cautioned as he drooped his glass on the table before him.

"So, what’s the address Logan?" he asked again.

Logan hissed as his sharp eyes met Alfred’s eyes, "I heard you the first time Alfred, but it wasn’t worth answering,"

Alfred’s face stiffed.

This Logan of a boy has honestly changed a lot. He even chose not to answer his question and is fearlessly telling him to his face.

"Why wasn’t it worth answering?" Alfred asked as he sat up with irritation.

Logan rolled his eyes at Alfred’s attitude, "Your price was too little," he answered and took another slow sip from his wine.

Alfred saw red. Did Logan just indirectly tell him he doesn’t need his money?

"I just said I’d double what I’m owing you," he repeated his earlier price.

Logan raised his eyebrows with a humored expression, "Double? I heard you right the first time," he sassed because right now, Alfred’s voice bleeds his ears.

"So what is it you want?" Alfred asked ignoring Logan’s attitude.

Logan scoffed and with a low chuckle he replied, "Your head,"

Alfred’s face lost all colors as his butt went back on the couch in disbelief. He looked at Logan to see if he was just hearing words but Logan’s expression was serious and deadly.

"My.. head?" Alfred started with his expression pale but to Logan, he found it highly comical.

And then, Logaburstst out laughing.

Alfred felt his suit pant wet with his wee release. He had never heard Logan laugh all the days he knew him and now hearing him laugh, he was scared to the point he let his wee out on himself.

"Haha, I was just kidding. Frankly speaking, I read about King Herod and John just this morning and I’m sorry it just crossed my mind and messed it up," Logan

apologized with humor still laughing.

His words were supposed to ease the tension in the room since he said he was joking but Alfred wasn’t able to join in the laughter.

Logan’s laugh was the cringest he has ever heard.

Logan ended the laugh with a chuckle when he saw that Alfred wasn’t still free enough to join in the laugh.

"Go home and take a rest, Mr Lincoln. I’d let you know when I figure out what I truly need but for now, don’t take a step of approach toward my little Princess and..." he left his advice suddenly hanging and stood up.

"I’d get back to you," Logan added, and finishing his wine first, he walked out of the door.

Alfred sat there in bewilderment.

Logan said it was a joke but that wasn’t true. He could see the seriousness behind his eyes and voice and again with all the strange attitudes Logan portrayed like laughing and making unusually long statements, he figured something was up.

He touched his wet pant with embarrassment as he closed his eyes but opened them immediately and looked behind him as if an enemy was there.

Logan was surely passing a message and he need to read each remark and expression carefully, also watching his back before taking steps.

....

"We can’t meet again as planned," Arissa informed the other end of the line as she sat on her bed and rubbed her forehead tiredly.

She planned to rest more today but this call just woke her up.

"Why?" the other end asked. They’re supposed to meet today for the first time since they started this but now, she’s breaking it off at the dying moment.

Arissa stood up from the bed, "Just send me a copy of the remaining secrets you uncovered. I’m secretly followed and I would not like you to get caught up in all of these,"

The other end released a breath, "Okay. I’d send all but please, always be careful," the other end advised and without waiting for Arissa to reply or end the call, the call was disconnected and Arissa did her part to delete the short call log.

Not having a chance to drop her phone, a call came through again. Glancing at the screen, she hurriedly answered when she saw Collins’s name displayed.

Did something happen to Adele?

"Collins?" she called his name the moment the call was connected.

"Arissa," Collins called her name with his usual cheerful voice.

Arissa sat on her fur couch by the window side as she used it to support herself in case of any bad news, "Did something happen to Adele?"

There was a chuckle from the other end and Arissa’s expression turned complex.

"Why_"

"Nothing happened to Adele. You dropped by yesterday and her healing progress if anything only turned rapid,"

"Oh," Arissa murmured, "Then why did you call?"

It was weird. Collins had never called her without a reason.

"I want to let you know that I’d be free today. Can we still grab lunch later in the day?" he asked with hope in his voice.

Arissa’s lips broke into a smile glad it was no bad news concerning Adele’s health.

"Yeah sure," she assured looking at her wall clock. 8:45 am *sigh*

"Okay," Collins said meekly trying his possible best to suppress his excitement.

"Hmm. See you by 2 pm," she said and with a positive reply from Collins, she dropped the call.
