Chapter 260: Chicken Soup.

Chapter 260: Chicken Soup.

The ladies paused their conversation when the ward door was pulled open. A small gasp which later blossomed into a smile escaped Jocelyn’s lips when she saw Arissa walking in.

Jocelyn was the first to walk toward Arissa, "Arissa." she called before pulling her into a tight smiling hug.

Arissa hugged her back with a heavy heart. "I missed you," she said in the hug and her eyes connected with her elder sister’s own.

Adele flashed Arissa a smile. She nodded at Arissa to walk over. Arissa pulled away from the hug and walked over to Adele.

"You forgot us," Adele inferred without her smile falling.

Arissa forced out a smile, "I’m sorry I did. It wasn’t intentional," she apologized, dropping the flask bag she came with.

Jocelyn walked over to them, "What do you mean by ’it wasn’t intentional,’? Don’t tell me you confessed your feelings and you both decided to go for a vacation," she giggled girlishly wishing her words to be true.

Arissa’s lips curled into a genuine smile, "You wish," her mood brightened a little as she imagined Jocelyn’s words coming to reality.

If only her father never happened, who knows, maybe Jocelyn’s words would have been the story of the day but sadly, her story was far from being this dreamy.

"I wish?" Jocelyn asked taking a seat on Adele’s bed, "Who the hell answers his wife’s phone saying she needs not to be disturbed?"

Arissa gulped. Masking her sadness, she smiled coyly and turned over to Adele, "How do you feel?" she asked her elder sister.

Adele nodded, "I feel alright,"

Arissa faced the table she drooped the flask bag on, "I made some chicken soup," she informed drawing the flask out of the bag.

Jocelyn’s face brightened the more and Adele immediately sat up. They both acted like toddlers given their favorite toys and it managed to return a real smile on Arissa’s face.

Arissa turned to them with a wild smile, "Careful," she tried to warn when she saw Adele climbing off the bed but before she would close her mouth, Adele was already down from the bed and walking towards one of the seats on the table.

Jocelyn smiled at Arissa’s caution. Arissa watched as Adele sat down and clapped her hands together unable to wait anymore to dig into the soup.

She could not wish for anything more than this and she still can’t tell how she would thank Collins.

Jocelyn took the next seat and began to open the flasks, "That’s it. Precisely, perfect," she hailed the chicken soup before them.

Adele picked up her cutleries and Arissa just smiled.

"What are you doing standing there?" Jocelyn asked when Arissa did not join them.

Arissa’s smile turned sad, not that she did not try to keep it bright, "I ate to my fill at home. I actually made this because of, Nicklaus,"

Jocelyn smiled, "It’s lovely to see you two progressing," she said taking a sip from the soup, "You cook so great, and now I feel starved," she admired and the women in the room with her laughed.

"Mr. Adams did a good job," Adele added, hinting at the fact that Mr. Adams was the reason her kid sister became a great cook.

"Arissa also did her part. She’s unique, right Arissa?" Jocelyn disagreed with Adele’s words.

Arissa gave Jocelyn words a small laugh before seating on Adele’s bed to watch them eat. It tore her heart at the fact that Nicklaus haven’t been seen since their argument.

She called his number a thousand times but he never replied to a call, nor did he reply to her a few messages.

She promised him a delicious lunch and he never bothered coming back to eat what she prepared.

Unable to eat alone, she decided to bring it over and now she did, his thoughts weighed her down and she could not even eat.

Initially, she was scared to leave the house. She was traumatized by what happened and it made her understand Nicklaus’s point of view and his reasons for doing that to her father.

No matter what she would say, Arissa knew that deep down, Nicklaus has no intention to kill her father. She regretted not taking all of these down in her reasoning before attacking him.

Adele turned to Arissa and lifted one brow at her. At first, she did not notice it but now she does. Her sister sounded sad, deeply sad.

She lifted one of her eyebrows, "Are you alright, Arissa?"

The question drew Jocelyn’s attention and she also turned to Arissa with questions in her eyes. Arissa met her eyes and she immediately knew what the issue could be.

Again? Haven’t they gotten over their argument phrase?

"Sweetheart, are you okay?" Adele asked again.

"I’m not," Arissa answered carelessly. Then she paused, struck by her reply, she immediately corrected herself. "I mean I am,"

"Oh no," Jocelyn drooped her cutleries and walked over to Arissa when she noticed those watery clouds hanging in her eyes.

She got to the bed and immediately pulled Arissa into her embrace. She patted Arissa on the back and placed a thousand kisses on her head.

Adele drooped her cutleries and watched the two girls before her. Completely lost in the eye conversation they shared and about what was going on, she sat back and waited for an explanation.

Arissa buried her face into Jocelyn’s neck, "I don’t know the kind of human I am. I pushed him away again," she cried, "I’m heartless and I don’t even deserve someone as half as good as he is,"

"No tears, baby," Jocelyn tried comforting her when she felt Arissa’s tears soaking her shirt, "Brace yourself together and let’s talk,"

Arissa shook her head in disagreement, "No, Jocelyn, I don’t want to talk now. Let me cry a little more," she pleaded unable to forgive her actions towards Nicklaus.

Adele swallowed behind them, patiently waiting for when Arissa would be ready to explain.
