His Toxic Addiction -
Chapter 142: Her Motherly Instinst.
Chapter 142: Her Motherly Instinst.
Laura’s eyes were fixed on the strong iron door when it made a scratching sound, signaling that someone was about to walk in.
Her brow furrowed in confusion as she turned all alert. That door was only opened once a day to sever her daily meal. Her kidnapper was kind enough to offer her food.
Since she had been served her meal already, her brow tightened more when the person seemed to be taking forever to come into her view.
She don’t know how to classify the place she has been abducted in but it was much more like a cell. There was no bed as she was only offered a cold floor, cold wall, endless ceiling, and no light - not even natural sunlight.
Since when had she been held hostage? She don’t know how long but she do know she have been held for more than three days which was beginning to scare her, she haven’t had a proper wash up not even for her breath.
It left her confused because the person don’t seem to want to kill her, and neither does the person want to let her go or see her. It was just like she was walking on an eggshell and knowing her crimes, she feared it might be an enemy.
She had a feeling this had to do with Alfred. Maybe, he has finally gotten a strong reason to end her. She was undeniably terrified, she don’t want to die before him. No, she wants to kill him with her hands.
That was if ever she would die, she want to kill him before doing that. Alfred needs to pay for downgrading and insulting her all these years. Not only that, he took away her chance of being with Stephan. Also, he used her daughter as leverage to expand his empire - which he failed because ever since the Wyatt family kept to the end of the bargain, she hadn’t seen him investing in the company which was wired because that was all they agreed to before she released her daughter but now, he did nothing.
Rather than investing in the company, he invested in his traveling life and women who weren’t her.
Hearing footsteps walking towards her, she sat up alert. The shackles around her ankles made noises but she hung in there.
Even if she was powerless, she won’t leave this world without a fight. Her ears calculated the legs and she noticed it was just one person who stopped walking three steps away from her.
’How long have I been here?’ Laura asked herself, surprised that her hearing sense was now fully heightened to that point of observation.
Well, there was no source of light in the room and her only sense of watch was her ear so, it wasn’t supposed to surprise her that much.
"Who is_ ahh!," An unexpected scream left her mouth when the room was emulated with light, nearly blinding her.
Her eyes burned as she tried to adapt to the source of light. She can’t use her hand to hide her eyes because they were also chained and raising them to her face was impossible.
Slowly adapting to the light, she forced her eyes open and tears filled the brim of her eyes as an after-effect of the sudden almost blinding light.
Logan tapped his left foot on the floor impatiently as he waited for the dramatic woman to fully adapt to the light. It was just light but she was acting as if he poured acid into her eyes.
Finally, after what took forever, Laura turned comfortable with the light. Resting her head on the cold wall behind her, she shut her eyes and opened them at a pace until they were fully okay.
"How have you been?" Logan began with pleasantries as he relaxed on the wall behind him.
Laura sat up straight and scanned the man before her. Irritation swept through her veins as she felt nonchalant air coming from him.
"Who are you?" she scowled at him.
Logan’s eyes widened with amusement. He had expected the question but not how she asked. Wasn’t she scared of death?
He met her eyes with his hard ones. Laura gulped from fear as she cowered in his presence. She turned more frightened when he looked all normal but dangerously calm. Her fighting spirit ran off but not completely as she held Logan’s gaze almost trembling.
"Who are you?" she managed to ask again.
Logan gave her a smile which was creepy considering he was glaring just a while ago and for the record, a smile wasn’t suitable on his face as he looked more deadly with that smile on.
"I am your potential son-in-law, Mrs. Lincoln,"
Laura frowned. Her northerly instinct kicked in as she fought on the chain to free herself, "What did you just say?" she howled at him like a wounded lioness while she aggressively tried to free herself.
She had failed her daughter once by letting that scum of an Alfred use her and she won’t repeat it by letting one of his gang boys come in here and claim some right over her.
Logan’s brows flattened as if bored at her performance and struggles, "That would only hurt you, mother-in-law," he irked her further by giving her a title and this made Laura pause.
"Where is Alfred?" she asked. At least before she dies, she would want to see that scum and give him an eternal gift if she wouldn’t kill him.
"Don’t worry about your husband. As a good potential son-in-law, I made sure to temporally send him to a good vacation but for you, we might make it permanent," he reached for the knife case on his waistband, "Depending on how truthful you would be tonight,"
Laura blinked in confusion.
She did not get his words. She heard all of them but they seemed to have more meanings to them and those more meanings were what she couldn’t figure out.
Vacation?
"So tell me," Logan snapped her off her thought, "Where is Theodore?" he asked, all warmth leaving his face.
