Chapter 138: A force higher than their denial.

Arissa had that traumatizing gruesome dream again. Hence, you could imagine how blanched her face was when she saw him just seated beside her.

It took every strong cell in her not to yell out from fright. Her breath trembled and for a moment, she forgot how to breathe.

The fuck, why would he be the first thing in her view after that scary too real to be an unreal dream. Passing a hand to her throbbing head, she tried to calm down.

"How long had you been here?" she asked as she focused on organizing her breathing. The dream scared her so much that her strong facade was crumbling but with Nicklaus before her, she would do everything to act normal.

He can’t see her at her worst.

Nicklaus calmed down the moment she got her voice back. He was terrified when he saw her gasping for air from her sleep.

He had rubbed on her shoulder to calm her down. Well, he was just lucky to be able to lean away before she opened her eyes. It was obvious she had a nightmare but sadly, he can’t ask for the details because she might just snap and get mad at the physical contact he gave to her while she was asleep.

Gazing into her eyes, he answered sincerely, "Ever since you fell asleep,"

Arissa’s heart dropped, Did he watch me struggle or could it be that I never struggled this time? She asked herself.

The last time she had this dream was terrifying. She could remember fighting for her life like it was real life, she even puked the moment she woke up but now, she was alright with only rough breathing to signify she had that nightmare again and wasn’t just hallucinating.

But was that just a nightmare? She don’t think it is because it just reoccurred, so vivid and real that she could still feel the fright she had in the dream rushing through her bones.

And now, seeing Nicklaus before her after such a long period accompanied by a brutal dream, she tried her hardest not to hug him.

She missed him and she wanted to let him know that but that would be letting her guard down and she can’t afford to do that. Not now they would get a divorce soon - who knows, he came with the letters for her signing.

Nicklaus stared around her bed as if there were potential arms around that might scare her. Turning back to her, he stared into her eyes, "We need to talk,"

Arissa’s face fell. She had strongly believed he came with the letters only for him to surprise her by saying they needed to talk.

Talk about what?

Turning away from him to face sideways, she disagreed, "We have nothing to talk about,"

"We have a lot to talk about," he countered her.

Arissa said nothing to that as she just sat up on the bed. Since Nicklaus was directly seated by her legs, she rolled away from him, in an attempt to walk away but Nicklaus was faster.

He got a hold of her ankle and stood straight before her. Arissa gulped as she cowered at his height. Like damn, he’s tall and it was intimidating. The fact she was in an awkward position made it worst.

She was like a frightened bunny hiding in a corner away from a furious lion.

Nicklaus stared at her ankle that was in his hold, "We have to talk right now," he said firmly leaving no room for objection, "You stayed away from me for ten days and I think it’s enough,"

Arissa frowned at his tune. She hates it when he talks to her that way, it was just like she was his kid at home.

Frowning, she retorted, "Why should we? You said we should not be in the same space until the di_"

"Don’t talk about the divorce," Nicklaus cut her off, unexplainably scared of hearing the word ’divorce’ from her. It gave him a wired feeling like the moment she says it, the divorce would automatically process itself.

He wasn’t ready for that.

"Let me go," Arissa hissed as she tried to free her ankle from his grip. He was so strong and it was giving her a hard time.

Being on only a white button-down t-shirt and a white lacy pantie underneath, she was conscious about how she wiggled hence, her pantie and tights would feed his eyes.

Nicklaus’s eyes scanned her outfit. Respecting her body, he softly let go of her ankle. Arissa hissed, dragging her feet to herself, she turned them in his direction so she would climb off the bed.

"Arissa," Nicklaus blocked her path as he stood before her, stopping her from leaving, "Listen to me first,"

Arissa raised her face to him, "What are you even doing here? Don’t you know this is trespassing? And again, aren’t you supposed to be with your new woman?" she asked.

"I haven’t slept with any other woman since I meet you at the club," he replied truthfully without hesitation.

Arissa scoffed, "As if that would make me trust you. What do I even have to do with that? How is that my business? Do I get an award from_"

"Arissa," Nicklaus cut her off with a low growl.

"Don’t call my name," Arissa snapped back at him with irritation, "Before me, you ordered for a lady. What did you use her for? Did you just droll at her p*ssy or her_"

"ENOUGH!!" Nicklaus finally yelled at her, "I said I’ve never slept with anyone else since our time at the club. Why don’t you believe me?" he thundered at her.

Arissa gulped, she shifted an inch from him in fright and surprise. How true are his words? She asked herself.

"I never laid with a lady that night," he said again with a low voice. Gritting his teeth from hurt, he turned away to hide his demons from her.

"I think you should go back to sleep," he advised, "I should have known from the start that you would be unreasonably stubborn," he bashed her with annoyance.

Having had enough of her irritating act, he walked towards the door. Maybe some other day she would be willing to listen to him, but when?

He had given her ten good days after their fight but she never came around. Rather, she only drifted further and it ate him up from his inside layers.

Arissa blinked when he suddenly paused after holding on to her door knob. She had been silenced when he lashed out in fury but his actions were beginning to create a turmoil of emotions inside her.

Holding onto her door knob in contemplation, he turned to her. Arissa gulped when his dark eyes landed on her.

Not recovering from his eyes on her, her body guided her to her feet. Nicklaus saw fire when she stood and she felt alive when his eyes roamed around her body.

Locking the door, they were no longer able to control themselves as their feet moved on their own accord. In the next second, their lips sized themselves greedily.

It all happened so fast. It was as if they were pushed by a force - a force higher than their stubbornness, a force higher than their denial.

They never had a chance to resist as the pull drew them in without mercy. Before Nicklaus would know it, his hands were wrapped around her waist and her back protectively as he drew her in while her legs were tightly wrapped around his waist.
