Chapter 136: Victor Was The Only Spy.
Chapter 136: Victor Was The Only Spy.
Sarah stared at the men in the room as she studied every one of them. Having been invited to the gathering, especially by Logan, she turned into a high smug as a smile graced her lips.
She proudly stood beside him as a queen would do for her king. Well, that was until she heard, "Sarah would take care of that,"
Her jaw dropped upon hearing her name. Honestly, she had been out of the gathering as her mind was just clouded by the achievement of standing beside Logan.
"I would what?" she stuttered.
Hearing her question, Logan glared at her in surprise while the rest of the man smiled mockingly at her dumbness.
Sarah’s face turned red from embarrassment.
"Boss said you would be the one spying on Adams," a man from the group helped her in a rough harsh voice that sounded like he had lots of sands down his throat.
Sarah’s brows furrowed, "I can’t do that," she rejected the mission with her head held high.
"You said what?" Vincent barked at her - not because of what she said but because of how she said it. He can’t wait to cut her tongue out of her mouth, she becomes braver in seconds with her tongue.
Vincent turned to Logan, ’And why isn’t he doing anything?’
"Boss?" he called for Logan’s attention at Sarah’s disrespectful act.
Logan glanced at Vincent, "What is it?" he asked as if he was unaware of Sarah’s attitude just now.
Vincent turned confused at the nonchalant question but he answered anyway, "She..she just rejected the task assigned to her,"
Logan tilted his head to Sarah, "Why don’t you want to do it?" he asked in a neutral voice and this caused the men in the hall to frown in confusion.
In the history of this gang, no one had ever lived for disregarding the boss not to talk about pridefully rejecting a word from him.
But now, the bitch did it and he just said nothing about it rather, he’s so calm. What’s going on between them? They asked between themselves.
"I don’t know where Mr. Adams is hiding and besides, what if he kills me," she lectured with a now calm tune different from the one she used in replying to the first person who spoke to her.
"Why would he kill you?" Logan questioned as she had just piqued his interest.
Sarah looked at him weirdly as if he was dumb, "Don’t you know why?"
"Don’t you dare answer my questions with questions again," he snapped at her in a chilly tune as her question just humiliated him. None of his men have ever done that.
Sarah’s expression turned respectful realizing that she had gone overboard, "I’m sorry," she added an apology to her sorry expression.
Logan just glared at her before turning away from her, "I am waiting for an answer Sarah-Jane. Don’t make me wait," he warned in a slamming voice.
The men in the room relaxed a little when Logan snapped at Sarah. At least, now they are sure that whatever that’s going on between them, their boss would not mix it up with business.
"He would kill me because I got Victor killed," she explained facing Logan as she feared looking around the hall at that moment.
Logan left brow lifted with interest, "Hmm, is there a new spy in here?" he asked seriously.
Sarah’s saliva dried up, and she went mute as she tried to process the sudden question that had another meaning underneath.
"Sarah?" he called suspiciously.
"No," Sarah shook her head, "Victor was the only spy," she clarified in deep thought.
Her attitude strengthened Logan’s suspicion, but still, he nodded like he had trusted her words. Turning to Vincent, he whispered in the man’s ear.
Vincent nodded his head in understanding. When Logan was done whispering to him, he fixed his eyes on Sarah.
Troubled by how Vincent was staring at her, she felt uncomfortable. She turned to Logan but the man’s face was devoid of emotions and she could not get a hint of what he just told Vincent.
Feeling wary, she looked away.
Vincent whispered back to Logan and Logan nodded in acknowledgment. Stepping away, Vincent still fixed a tight glare on Sarah.
It was obvious they just spoke about her but what did they say? Why do they have to whisper?
"I_"
She was cut off by Logan waving their hand ordering her to stop talking. Beckoning on one of the men in the hall, he passed a message into the man’s ear.
Nodding respectfully, the man exited the hall to do God knows what~
Sarah instantly turned sweaty when Logan faced her again.
"So, are you ready to tell me all you know?" he asked her with a grave tune.
Sarah turned worried. Deep down she knows nothing but she can’t understand why she felt how she was feeling.
Sarah’s jaw tightened as she felt suffocated by his piercing eyes and endless questions, "I... I swear, I know nothing,"
Logan’s face hardened, "I would let you out of the base if you can make me believe you and for me to believe there’s no spy around here, send for Mr. Adams," he bargained with her.
Sarah’s brow lifted and her heartbeat fastened, "Loga_"
"It’s boss," he corrected her.
The men in the hall smiled and laughed in satisfaction. Finally, the boss addressed that error. They all had a fixed hate towards Sarah and one couldn’t blame them because this was their first time working with a woman.
They all had strived and fought to win their master’s affection for years but suddenly, a bitch from the swamp came and got all they had ever wanted in the blink of an eye.
"You know how you had always communicated with him. Do that, when you are set, let me know and I’d tell you where to ask him to meet with you,"
Sarah’s lips parted.
This was an open death wish. Logan was compelling her to a death field and there was nothing she could do but blindly and obediently walk into it.
