Chapter 120: Work on having a baby.
"Son?"
"Mother?" Nicklaus had a surprised look on his face when he saw his mother walking out of the elevator. What’s she doing here?
Mrs. Wyatt giggled as she passed the tray over to Lyra and walked over to him. Nicklaus just stood before Arissa’s door in confusion with his mother’s giggle.
Seeing his mother taking dramatic movements to walk down to him, he took his hand off Arissa’s door knob to walk away.
"Hold on, Nicklaus," Mrs. Wyatt ordered softly and her steps hasten up as she stopped being super dramatic.
Remembering something, she turned to Lyra, "Don’t go in yet. Hold on a minute let me have a word with my son,"
Lyra nodded at her smiling mistress.
"What happened last night, did you sleep in her room? Oh yes, you did. Do you two work on having a baby? When last did you both argue, what’s your relationship status now, When do I have my first grandchild? Your hair is all messy did you both_"
"Mother," Nicklaus cut her off her breathless questioning, "Take a breath," he said to her, seeing she was out of breath just to bombard him with questions.
Mrs. Wyatt took a fast breath before looking back at Nicklaus with expectations, "You are extremely late for work, was it because you both were working on having_"
"We didn’t, we never worked on anything," Nicklaus cut her off again, now, his tune was harsh and irritated.
Mrs. Wyatt’s face fell with his sudden snap at her. Giving him a tight smile, she faced Lyra, "Let’s_"
"Mother wait," Nicklaus halted her after taking in a deep breath to calm himself. He had promised Arissa to end all of his annoying traits and this was one of them - snapping at people.
"Lyra," his tune was back to chilly. He has a score to settle with this maid later on and he won’t want her seeing Arissa until further notice, "give me the tray and leave us,"
The maid nodded, and with a bowed head and fast steps, she walked over to Nicklaus. Handing the tray over to him, she nodded at Mrs. Wyatt before leaving.
"Whose breakfast is this?" he questioned his mother as he looked into the tray.
"I made it for Arissa. I was worried when it was already past nine and she isn’t yet come out of her room but it seems like it isn’t her fault since you two might have done the deed last night," Mrs. Wyatt concluded as her expression went back to happy while talking about the possibility of them having s*x.
Nicklaus sighed before passing the tray over to his mother, "I’d answer all of your questions but first, I think you should go and see her,"
"Uh, why?" his mother panicked.
Nicklaus relaxed a long exhale, "Just go to her first," he pleaded with his mother before walking back to his door.
For someone like her who hardly trusts, he knew what he said about Mr. Adams might have broken her. He only hopes his mother’s presence would be able to lighten her mood since they already seem close.
Mrs Wyatt faced Arissa’s door and all of her happy emotions when she saw Nicklaus walking out of the door reduced because, from Nicklaus’s words, it seems they argued again.
Could it be that he never slept in her room and nothing happened? Realizing she was just overthinking, Mrs. Wyatt tried to arrange her emotions properly before knocking on the door.
"Arissa?" she called out when after her sixth knock there was no reply from the inside. She turned back to Nicklaus’s door but he was also long gone.
She has been left alone in the hallway and she doesn’t even know what happened to her daughter-in-law.
"Arissa, dear," she called louder when there was no reply from her previous call, "Ari_"
"I’m coming Mrs Wyatt," Arissa replied from the inside.
Relief washed over Mrs. Wyatt.
Opening the door from the inside, she let the older woman in with a warm smile, "I’m sorry, I was in the bathroom," Arissa apologized, explaining the reason for the late opening.
"It’s nothing," Mrs. Wyatt waved it off before scanning the whole of Arissa for any obvious change. Even if there was, it would be hard to spot since the girl was already in her bathrobe with her brown hair flowing down her shoulders, covering her whole neck.
"Let me have this,"
Mrs. Wyatt was snapped from her daze when Arissa gently pulled the tray from her hold. Mrs. Wyatt smiled at her before releasing the tray to her.
"I made your favorite," she informed Arissa as she trailed behind the girl while she inspected the room like a wake-up slap on her face, the whole place was cleaned up and there was no rumbled line on the bed.
She doubt Arissa even slept on it not to talk about making a baby on it. Her heart bleeds but at the same time, she knows she has to give them all the time they would want.
"Thank you," Arissa said nervously as she dropped the tray on her mini luxurious table by her window side, "When did you arrive?"
"An hour ago," Mrs Wyatt replied still investigating the room.
"How have you been?" Arissa questioned again as she set the table.
Arissa could not help but smile while she set the table. This was the first time someone was making her breakfast in bed.
"I’ve been great," Mrs. Wyatt replied with a sigh when she noticed that Arissa wasn’t weak, not even her legs wobbled while she set the table.
Her legs were strong and that explains it all. They did nothing last night.
Moving over to Arissa, she stood beside the girl as she watched her pour coffee for both of them, "How about you, how have you been?" she asked Arissa with a voice that held care in them.
She have a feeling that underneath Arissa’s smile, something was holding her down, like a storm weighing her down while waiting for when it would fully own her.
Arissa rounded up what she was doing before standing straight and looking into Mrs. Wyatt’s eyes, she gave the older woman another warm smile.
"Have Nicklaus been nice to you?"
At the mention of Nicklaus, a feeling of guilt enveloped her heart. She was the guilty one between them and if there was something Nicklaus had been doing, he had been trying to make them work while she just kept on acting blind to all of it.
