His Toxic Addiction -
Chapter 113: Her greatest solace.
Chapter 113: Her greatest solace.
Arissa turned around and faced Nicklaus. Securing Blu. tenderly, she glared at him and her guards were back on again.
"Why are you here?"
She asked scanning his homely appearance and when her eyes landed on the mountain between his legs, her stomach tied into a knob.
Nicklaus’s jaw tightened as his focus went back to that annoying spoilt cat she was holding with all of her love. That cat caused it all and now, her whole soft tune and gentle demeanor was gone.
He felt like dragging that cat from Arissa to discard her to the floor from his rooftop and then, he would only have to claim it was an accident. The cat has to pay for the uncomfortable feeling he was having right now.
"Why are you here?" Arissa snapped him off his thought when she saw him all focused on Blu. Is something wrong?
Taking a low breath, Nicklaus looked in between his leg for a split second before looking back at Arissa, "I have something for you,"
Arissa blinked at his words.
"What’s that?" she asked him before walking towards the bed. Taking a seat at the edge of the bed, she dropped Blu. to relax on her tight.
Seeing the cat offered such a privilege, Nicklaus burned the cat with his eyes. Feeling the heated glare, the cat stood on all four, facing Nickalus, they glared at themselves.
Nicklaus turned dumbfounded as he wondered if this was an ordinary cat. How would a cat be this serious about a glare? Wasn’t this the cat Arissa said was shy? but true to her words, the cat seemed not to like him
"Nicklaus stop," Arissa scolded him. Feeling Blu. strange attitudes, she raised her face to Nicklaus only to realize he was glaring at her cat.
"She_"
"She was glaring at me first," Nicklaus wanted to say but cut himself off so he won’t look stupid in saying a cat was glaring at him.
"She what?" Arissa demanded an explanation as she gently cradled the cat back into her arm.
Nicklaus gave the cat one last glare before looking back at Arissa, "Nothing. I just don’t like her," he said, technically truthful.
"Oh. That’s weird because everyone loves her at first sight," Arissa murmured while she stroked the cat fur to calm her down, "Why exactly are you here?" Arissa asked again. It’s now obvious the cat doesn’t want him in here so, he has to be brief and leave the room.
Nicklaus walked down from the bed. Arissa’s eyes followed him until he stopped before her vanity table. Picking the documents he came in with, he walked back to her and sat before her.
"Here,"
"Are they divorce letters?" she asked in an indifferent voice.
Nicklaus’s heart skipped a beat in panic at her question. Asking such a question with a blank expression just proved how much she don’t want him.
Passing the file over to her, he stood up from the bed and stayed away due to the sexual tension that built up in him when he saw the shape of her nipples by just barely looking at her chest.
"Go to bed Blu." she ordered the cat as she dropped her from her arm, "I said you should go to bed," she repeated softly when she saw the cat just standing on all fours, staring at Nicklaus.
With a low purr, the cat walked back into her arm, trying to make her lay with her. Passing Nicklaus an apologetic look, she laid down with the disturbing cat and cradled her in her arm.
"You want to lay on the bed?"
The cat purred as a reply and snuggled more into Arissa. Nicklaus stood there with a clenched jaw and watched the cat act.
"Arissa_"
"Nicklaus," she whispered his name back. Tiling her head towards him, she signaled him to keep shut, "She wants to sleep,"
Nicklaus frowned upon the signal. What the hell? How special was that cat?
He clenched his jaw as he hopelessly watched Arissa ignore his whole existence and concentrated on making her cat sleep peacefully first.
A few minutes later, the cat finally drifted away. Gently transferring the cat from her bed to her cradle, she turned back to Nicklaus.
"Can we talk tomorrow? I’m sleepy," she pleaded.
"I just_"
"Nicklaus please," she cut him off in a plead. In the first place, she have been extremely stressed out today and that was her reason for putting on his shirt because no matter her anxiety, his cologne was her greatest solace.
Nicklaus swallowed his words. The documents could wait until tomorrow, for now, she should just rest.
"Can I sleep here?"
"Huh?" Arissa urgently sat up when she heard his request. Was he being serious right now? "What did you say?" she asked to make sure she heard well.
"I was asking if I could spend a night here. Only tonig_"
"No way," Arissa cut him off as she looked into his eyes, "You can’t do that,"
"Just for tonight,"
Nicklaus was desperate. He just wants to find out something, he wants to know if her scent would keep him till morning or if it would be just for a short period as his pills do.
"Arissa, just for tonight and I won’t ask again," he promised, not sure of himself, "please," he finally pleaded when he saw how unfazed Arissa was even with his promise.
He had thought his ego would crush when he plead but surprisingly, it was all natural and if she wants, he was sure he won’t mind pleading again.
"Okay," Arissa agreed reluctantly hearing how genuine his plead sounded.
Nicklaus smiled hearing her and his heart raced with excitement. Walking to the bed, he dropped the file on the lamps and took off his slippers.
"Seriously?" Arissa yelled in disbelief. Nicklaus froze on his process to climb the bed as he looked at her in surprise and confusion, "Obviously not on my bed," she gasped.
Nicklaus looked around the room to see if there was another preserved bed for him to sleep on but he saw none. This was the only bed available in the room and she was saying he shouldn’t sleep on it then, where should he sleep on?
"On the floor," she hinted at him as if reading his thought.
Nicklaus’s face paled at her idea. He had never slept on the floor before, not even at the orphanage, and what do she think she was doing by giving him such an order when he could buy a whole bed company if he wants?
Looking at her, he pondered over it, and with a grumble, he realized that all of those beds he could afford would never give him the kind of peace he has in this room.
But still, he decided to ask, "Why should I sleep on the floor?" he inquired, and the image of that silly cat laying in his arm graced his memory.
He was her husband but it seems as if the cat has more rights than him.
"You can go back to your room if you don’t want to," Arissa suggested as she laid back on the bed and buried her face in her pillow.
"Fine," Nicklaus agreed. He can’t afford to leave this room.
"Fine?" Arissa repeated with surprise. She had expected him to leave her room the moment she said he should sleep on the floor. Where did his ego go? She asked herself as she turned to him.
"I’d sleep on the floor. Just give me some blankets," Nicklaus added.
Arissa’s eyes widened in disbelief as she could not believe her ears. Did he just accept sleeping on the floor when he has his room? Why is he adamant about sleeping in my room?
"Nicklaus no," she suddenly objected, surprising Nicklaus.
"Why?"
"Why, because you don’t look like one who knows how to sleep on the floor. I think you should just go back to your room and get comfortable on your bed," she insisted, bluntly letting it out that she wants him to leave.
Nicklaus chuckled, "Then I guess you would be generous enough to let me have a portion of your bed," he guessed with hope as before Arissa would reply, he had sat on the bed already.
"No Nicklaus," She protested. Kneeling on the bed, she used her hand to push him off but his strong frame did not budge as she was too weak for him.
"Go back to your room," she almost cried. Was this an illusion or real life? What made this possible?
"Get me a blanket," he insisted.
Biting her inner lower lip, she stopped hitting him, "I will. Just get off my bed," she begged.
Nicklaus nodded and with a lightning turn, he stole a kiss from the side of her lips since she was close to him.
"Why_"
"I only made it even," he smiled at her.
