His Mistress is His Ex-Wife -
Chapter 86: Dilemma
Chapter 86: Dilemma
Athena stared at Dominique intently, waiting for his reply. She was in a rush to put a label on their current relationship. She wouldn’t let him take advantage of her. This was a big gamble for her with lots of sacrifices.
Meanwhile, Dominique remained tight-lipped, unable to respond to Athena’s demand. Her words made him return to his senses. As he struggled to find the right words to say, he took his coat, covering Athena’s exposed upper body. Her shirt had been torn because of him.
"I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to..." Dominique hesitated when he realized what he had done. "I was not in my right mind–" He gazed down as he couldn’t look straight into her eyes. He felt so guilty for crossing the line between them. He was so inconsiderate of her feelings.
He thought that getting intimately involved with her might be an insult to her since he was a married man. He didn’t think of the consequences of his selfish actions. Athena also had a reputation to protect.
However, Athena misinterpreted his intentions. "So... you’re just like all the other men who only seek to satisfy their lust," she mocked, her words laced with disdain and disbelief.
"Just leave, Mr. Smith! Get out of my house this instant!" Athena yelled in frustration, her voice tinged with anger and exasperation.
She was disappointed. She thought Dominique would already grab the chance to have a secret relationship with her since she had already spelled it out in front of his face. She thought he would say yes and make it official by giving her privileges in exchange for being his woman.
Who would have thought Dominique would be hesitant to accept her indecent proposal? To keep her pride, Athena had no choice but to kick him out of her house.
Dominique could only obey her as he rose from his seat, making his way towards the entrance door. With a heavy heart, he left Athena’s penthouse.
’Damn it! I’m an asshole!’ He cursed himself, his fist colliding with the steering wheel in frustration. His mind was in a great mess. He didn’t know what he should do. He needed someone to talk to. Eventually, Ashton came to mind.
Without intending to return home, Dominique decided to visit Ashton’s residence. Battling through his headache, he drove to Ashton’s villa. Astonished, Ashton found Dominique standing at his doorstep, having received no advance notice of his friend’s visit. Luckily, Ashton hadn’t departed for work yet.
"Hey, Dom. What happened to you? You look like shit?" Ashton inquired in amusement. Dominique’s appearance was in disarray. His face was also pale, with dark circles visible under his eyes.
Dominique didn’t respond as he walked past him, entering the house. He slumped his body to the soft couch, placing his elbow over his forehead to cover his eyes.
Sensing the moody expression of his best friend, Ashton picked up a cold drink from the kitchen before joining him.
"I need to cool his head down," Ashton mumbled.
When he returned, he sat down next to Dominique, offering him the drink. "So what brings you here, Dom? Sasha has been looking for you since last night. Did you two fight? You didn’t sleep at home?"
Last night, Ashton received numerous messages and a call from Sasha inquiring about Dominique’s whereabouts. Regrettably, Ashton had no clue where Dominique had disappeared to. Despite his attempts to reach out, Dominique’s phone remained switched off.
"I’m going to divorce Sasha," Dominique declared to Ashton, dropping a bomb.
Ashton was utterly stunned when he heard that.
"What?! Are you serious? But why? Hey, are you just pranking me?" Ashton bombarded him with questions. He couldn’t believe it. Just a few days ago, Sasha was so happy when she talked about giving birth to Dominique’s child. And now, he would suddenly hear this shocking statement from Dominique who wanted to file a divorce.
"What happened between the two of you? Why did you suddenly decide to divorce her?" Ashton shook Dominique’s shoulders, demanding answers.
"She deceived me. She lied to me," Dominique nonchalantly responded.
"Huh? About what?" Ashton was still confused. He needed to hear everything.
Dominique confided to Ashton, telling him everything about what Sasha did to Sabrina– how she hid Sabrina’s pregnancy from him, how she paid and threatened Sabrina’s doctor, and how she asked Sabrina to abort their child.
Ashton was rendered speechless after hearing the revelation from Dominique.
"But Dom... it happened a long time ago. Can’t you forgive Sasha? Give her another chance. Don’t break her heart. Besides, Sabrina is gone." Ashton encouraged Dominique to fix his relationship with Sasha and forgive her for what she had done. Because he knew that Sasha only did those things for Dominique’s sake.
Dominique’s face contorted when he heard his advice. He was displeased when Ashton emphasized that Sabrina was gone.
’No. I think she is still alive.’ Dominique was still holding on to that hope.
"I can no longer lie to myself... I don’t have feelings for Sasha. And I don’t think I can stand seeing her face after what I’ve discovered." Dominique was being truthful with his feelings.
"Dom, I understand. But can you please reconsider your decision? Have you forgotten? Sasha was the one who assisted you with your revenge. She made a lot of sacrifices for you. Will you throw away all that just because of her one mistake?"
"Give her another chance. Don’t break her heart. She’s still our good friend. Remember? You and Sasha were so close during our childhood days. Don’t be so harsh on her. She loves you so much. And she devoted her life to you."
Ashton was so concerned about Sasha’s feelings. He knew that she would be heartbroken if Dominique would file a divorce.
With his fists tightly clenched, Dominique shut his eyes forcefully and gritted his teeth. He found himself caught in a dilemma. What Ashton had said was true. He was indebted to Sasha. And in return for everything she had done for him in the past, he fulfilled her request, giving her the title of Mrs. Smith.
Dominique heaved a deep sigh. He thought talking to Ashton would help him clear his mind. But he was wrong. Ashton’s advice messed up his prior decision of parting ways with Sasha.
’Instead of focusing on Sasha, I should try to reconnect with Aaron and find him. I must confirm if he is indeed my biological son. I can also find Sabrina’s whereabouts through him.’
Dominique had two puzzles to solve– Athena’s connection with Enzo raised his suspicion that she was Sabrina while Aaron’s connection with Gael made him think that he might be his biological son. Aaron and Dominique had an uncanny resemblance. And he still believed that Gael might be hiding both Aaron and Sabrina from him.

[ Athena’s Penthouse... ]
Lanny rushed to Athena’s place after receiving Athena’s urgent message. Dominique started to suspect Aaron and Athena’s identity. If they don’t make a wise move, he might discover the truth. And it would ruin their entire plan.
"What?! Dominique confronted Gael last night about Aaron?!" Lanny exclaimed.
Athena could only bob her head. "Yes. It’s time to do our plan B."
"Yes. I’ll contact my men to do the preparations. Don’t worry, Athena. You will remain dead in Dominique’s eyes. Furthermore, as long as Aaron is in my father’s territory, Dominique’s men will never reach him." Lanny reassured Athena, gently patting her back.
"By the way, are you okay? What did Dominique do to you?" Lanny asked her with concern.
Athena took a deep sigh. "Lanny, can you please hit me? I made a mistake earlier," she admitted.
"I let him touch me and I demanded him to put a label on our relationship, making me his woman. But he seemed hesitant to accept my proposal. Do you think I rushed things a little bit?"
Lanny glanced at Athena helplessly. "Hey, don’t be disheartened, dear. You’re making a big progress. Sooner or later, Dominique will finally give in to the temptation. Let’s just stick to our plan. But remember, you should always guard your heart. You are not allowed to fall in love with that jerk again!" Lanny reminded her.
’Besides, my brother is patiently waiting for you,’ Lanny thought to herself.
"Yes. I understand. I won’t fall for him again. I only hate him," Athena said confidently.
Lanny smiled broadly, satisfied with her answer. "By the way, Athena, I have good news for you. I think Vladimir and I have already cleared the misunderstanding between us. My brother didn’t try to kill me. I think we can trust him fully."
"So, if you are ready to tell him your story, you can do it. Don’t hesitate. I know my brother will listen to you and he will do his best to support you."
Athena gave her a grateful smile. "Thanks, Lanny. I’ll do that once I muster up my courage. There are things I should do first."
