Chapter 80: Not Giving Up

"D-Dom... L-Let go... I can’t... b-brea~" Sasha’s words were strained, her voice barely a whisper as she struggled to draw in air.

She was on the verge of losing consciousness when Dominique returned to his senses. He hastily released her from his tight grip and stepped back.

Gasping for air, Sasha stumbled on the floor, her hands clutching at her throat as she fought to regain her breath. Panic flickered in her eyes as she struggled to recover from the suffocating grip of Dominique’s hold.

"How could you do this to me, Dominique? I know you are mad... but, were you trying to kill me?" Sasha asked him in disbelief.

Dominique’s intense gaze bore into her, void of any emotion. There was no remorse in his heart for what he had done to Sasha. Instead, it clenched with the pain of her betrayal and deception.

"Why did you do it?" His voice was stern yet surprisingly calm. He was trying to control his rage to prevent him from hurting Sasha.

Sasha’s breathing gradually steadied as she regained her composure, her gaze flickering between Dominique’s anguished expression and the distance between them.

"Do you need to ask that, Dom? Are you still clueless?! Of course, I did that because of you!"

Balling his hands into fists, Dominique narrowed his eyes at her when he heard her response.

"What kind of excuse is that, Sasha?"

Sasha pursed her lips as she put on her brave front. "If you had discovered Sabrina’s pregnancy, you would have reconsidered your revenge," she asserted. "You might have hesitated. I did it for your own sake, Dominique!"

"That’s bullshit, Sasha!" Dominique yelled, his face contorted with rage.

"Why Dominique?! Have you fallen for her? Have you forgotten? Sabrina was the daughter of the man who destroyed your family! The man who killed your family! Do you want to build a family with his daughter? Don’t be a hypocrite! Can you turn your back on your own family just for her?" Sasha questioned him.

"Don’t get confused with your feelings, Dominique! Don’t tell me you let that woman bewitch you?" Sasha’s voice dripped with disdain. "Let me remind you, Dominique. Sabrina was nothing more than a pawn in your scheme! She was a mere tool that you discarded once she had served her purpose."

"Stop it, Sasha!" Dominique’s patience wore thin, unable to bear her accusations any longer. He clenched his fists, his frustration evident. Sasha showed no remorse for what she had done to Sabrina.

"Don’t pin the blame on me, Dominique. I’m simply following your lead... aiding you in your quest for revenge. What happened to Sabrina was part of your own plan! I may have played a role, but it was you who hurt her the most. It was always you!"

Sasha’s last remarks pierced Dominique’s heart like daggers. He couldn’t deny the truth in them. He was the one who started all this. He was the one who betrayed Sabrina, driving her to make the tragic decision to end her own life in front of him.

In a fit of uncontrollable rage, Dominique’s hands swept across his desk, sending the papers and objects flying into the air, including his laptop. Then he seized the heavy wooden table and hurled it across the room, the sound of splintering wood echoing off the walls.

CRASH!

Sasha just stood frozen in her spot, watching the objects crash to the ground around Dominique. She didn’t expect to escalate his anger.

Dominique didn’t care about the chaos he was causing inside his study room. All he could feel was the searing pain of betrayal and the overwhelming weight of his own guilt.

After a few minutes, Dominique sank to his knees amidst the wreckage, feeling exhausted from his outburst.

With a cold expression on his face, he glanced at Sasha. "I don’t want to lie to myself anymore. I can’t give you a child. Forget about the artificial insemination. I will never do it, Sasha. Consider this as your punishment for asking Sabrina to abort my child."

At that certain moment, he knew that nothing would ever be the same again between Sasha and him.

Meanwhile, Sasha’s eyes widened in disbelief as Dominique’s words sank in. She shook her head vehemently, unable to accept his decision.

"No, Dominique, you can’t do that," Sasha protested, her voice trembling with emotion. "We can’t give up on having a child together. I wasn’t the cause of you losing your child. Sabrina’s decision to end her life took both her and your child’s life! It wasn’t my fault!" Sasha defended herself desperately.

She approached Dominique and kneeled before him. She continued begging him. "Don’t do this, Dominique. Why do you have to punish both of us? Sabrina was gone! Even if you do this, you can’t bring her back to life!"

But Dominique remained resolute, his expression unwavering. "I’ve made my decision, Sasha," he insisted firmly. "I won’t change my mind."

Tears welled up in Sasha’s eyes as she shook her head in denial. "I love you, Dominique," she pleaded, her voice choked with emotion. "Please don’t do this. We can work through this together."

But Dominique’s heart was hardened by the pain of the past. "I’m sorry, Sasha," he said, his voice heavy with regret. "I can’t continue down this path any longer. I can give you your freedom. It’s not too late for you to find someone."

"No! No! I don’t want my freedom! It’s you whom I want!" Sasha started to become hysterical. She clung to Dominique tightly, afraid to let him go.

But Dominique removed her arms as he stood up. Without looking back, he stormed out of his study room, leaving Sasha alone with her broken heart.

Sasha’s heart ached with the weight of Dominique’s decision, but she refused to accept it. As she watched the door where Dominique had disappeared, her tears continued to stream down her cheeks.

"This can’t be the end for us, Dominique," Sasha whispered to herself, her voice barely audible over the sound of her own sobs. "I won’t give up on us. I won’t let you slip away. You belong to me, and I’ll do whatever it takes to make you love me again."

With a determined glint in her eyes, Sasha wiped away her tears and straightened her posture. She refused to let despair consume her. Instead, she would fight for her love with every fiber of her being.
