His Mistress is His Ex-Wife
Chapter 50: Identity

Chapter 50: Identity

"You are my sister’s sperm donor."

Vladimir’s words kept replaying in Enzo’s mind. He wondered if Vladimir was telling the truth.

"Don’t listen to my brother. He is just spouting nonsense!" Lanny had to intervene before Vladimir could make things worse. "By the way, this is Vladimir, my brother, and Athena, our friend."

"You, Athena, and I used to be close friends... before you lost your memory. We have been searching for you. Do you remember your name and identity?" Lanny wanted to know how much he could remember.

"I don’t remember who I am or where I came from. But the one who rescued me is calling me by my name Enzo." Enzo truthfully answered Lanny’s query.

"Let’s go inside first. We can talk there in the house." Enzo invited them in.

He guided them to the living room. The house was not big yet it was spacious enough for a person living alone.

His way of living was now different from his former self as the CEO of the SACE Group. His life on the island was simpler than before.

As Enzo prepared snacks for his visitors, Lanny confronted her brother.

"Vladimir, just keep your mouth shut, okay? Let me do the talking! If you can’t hold your tongue, it’s best for you to go back to our car now and accompany Luna!"

"No. I’m staying here," Vladimir insisted. As long as Athena was there, he wouldn’t leave her side.

Lanny pursed her lips in annoyance. She was about to warn Vladimir when Athena suddenly spoke up.

"V, Enzo has forgotten his memory. Let’s be mindful of our words. We don’t want to confuse him or give him a shock." This time Athena made a request from Vladimir because she knew he was stubborn enough to listen to Lanny.

’Nice one, Athena! Only you can make my brother obedient.’ Lanny smiled inwardly.

"I understand. I’m sorry." Vladimir apologized to Athena. But deep down, he was still jealous because of Athena’s concern for Enzo.

"What will you do now? He can’t remember you. Will you still inform him about Kimmy and Aaron’s existence?" Vladimir asked Lanny.

"It’s none of your business, okay? Just keep quiet." Lanny scowled at her brother.

It did not take long before Enzo returned, holding a tray of refreshments and snacks. He sat down next to Lanny.

"There are lots of things I want to ask you regarding my identity and my family. I’ve been living on this island for three years now. I thought no one was searching for me. I’m glad to finally meet people who know me." Enzo looked at them with anticipation.

"Can you tell me about my family?" he asked them eagerly.

There was a moment of silence when Enzo posed that question. How could they tell him that he had no family left? Though his sister was alive, he didn’t remember it. And Sabrina already changed her identity as Athena.

"You are Enzo Williams." Athena decided to tell him his true identity.

"Five years ago, your father died of illness while your sister died in an accident. Your mother died in a vehicular accident when you were ten." Lanny had a sullen look in her eyes as she delivered this devastating truth to Enzo.

They could see the shock on his face upon hearing those words. The glimmer of hope in his eyes dissipated almost instantly, replaced by sadness. Enzo could feel the emptiness in his heart. No wonder, he didn’t make an effort to remember his past.

’I have nothing to return to... right?" Enzo asked them in a low voice.

Lanny glanced at Athena as she didn’t know what to say. She couldn’t tell him ’Your sister is alive and she is here.’ It should be Athena’s decision, not hers.

But Athena was also thinking of the same thing. She wondered if Lanny could give him a reason to return–for Kimmy and Aaron.

Meanwhile, Vladimir frowned as he observed the exchange of glances between Athena and Lanny.

’Why can’t they answer him? They could simply give him Yes or No. Why are they hesitating?’ Vladimir mused to himself.

Feeling a little bit impatient, Vladimir broke the silence. "First things first, do you live alone now, or is there someone special in your life?"

His question elicited a sharp glare from his sister, Lanny, who had already cautioned him to keep quiet. Vladimir wasn’t able to hold his curiosity.

He hated the atmosphere around them. It seemed that Athena and Lanny knew something he didn’t know. But one thing was for sure. Lanny’s decision to reveal Kimmy and Aaron’s existence to Enzo would depend on his answer.

Even though Enzo was surprised by that unexpected question, he felt the need to give him an honest response.

"I’m not living alone. Honestly, this is my girlfriend’s house. Her name is Alice." There was a gentleness in his eyes as he mentioned her name.

Lanny and Athena were at a loss for words when they heard that revelation.

’Oh no. My brother is already in a relationship. What will happen to Lanny and him?’ Athena cast a worried glance at Lanny, her heart heavy with concern.

This was not the news she had hoped to hear. Deep down, Athena harbored the hope that Lanny and Enzo could work out their relationship.

"That’s good to hear, Enzo," she replied, her voice gentle. "We are happy that you are doing well here." Lanny offered him a smile, masking the ache in her heart with a facade of understanding. "By the way, where is she?"

"Alice is working in our small hospital in this town. She is a nurse. I’ve mentioned my accident five years ago. Alice was the one who saved my life." Enzo tried to reminisce about the past.

"Alice was the one who found me floating in the sea, severely wounded. I was in a comatose state for nine months. She’s the one who took care of me and served as my guardian. When I woke up, I couldn’t remember anything. I felt like my life had been reset. Alice was the person who stayed by my side in those difficult times. She gave me another reason to live."

Enzo’s story made sense. No wonder he fell in love with Alice.
