His Mistress is His Ex-Wife
Chapter 47: Son

Chapter 47: Son

As a sign of their newly found friendship, Dominique bought a miniature guitar, giving it to Aaron as his souvenir. The young boy was overjoyed to receive that gift from Dominique.

"Thank you, Mr. Dominique. I’ll treasure this. The next time I come back here, I’ll give you a souvenir from my country." Aaron promised him.

Dominique gently ruffled his hair and said, "Okay. I’ll look forward to your return. But for now, we need to find your sister and uncle. They might be worried about you."

Aaron nodded in response. "Don’t worry, Mr. Dominique. If we can’t find them, I can ride a taxi going to our place. I know the address. But I have to borrow money from you. Is it okay?"

Dominique looked at him in amusement. "I can’t possibly allow a four-year-old kid to ride a taxi alone. I would rather send you home."

"Aren’t you busy?" The young boy asked him expectantly. For some unknown reason, he didn’t want to part ways with Dominique just yet.

"I’m not. I only have a commitment with my best friend today. But as usual, he is late." Dominique checked his wristwatch. "Speaking of the devil," he mumbled when he received Ashton’s message, asking about his location. "He is finally here."

Dominique typed a message on his phone, instructing Ashton to meet him in the Music Store. "We can wait for him here so that he can help us in searching for your guardian."

"Okay, Mister!" Aaron cheerfully responded.

The two were still waiting for Ashton when the store manager approached them with a beaming smile. "That was amazing! We rarely get live performances like that. If you’re up for it, we’d love to have you play again sometime. Our customers clearly enjoyed it!"

Dominique’s brows furrowed into a frown. He didn’t have any plan to play another performance. He just made an exception today because of Aaron’s request. He was about to refuse the store manager when he spoke up again, shifting his attention to the young boy.

"Young boy, your father is very good at playing the guitar. How about you? Which instrument are you playing?"

Dominique was dumbfounded when the store manager mistook him for Aaron’s father. But to his surprise, Aaron didn’t correct the store manager’s wrong assumption. Instead, the young boy just smiled at him and replied enthusiastically, "Piano and drums. But I want to learn how to play guitar as well."

The store manager let out a soft chuckle. "Oh, No wonder, your father is teaching you. I know you can do it. Who knows you might surpass your father’s skills in playing the guitar." He encouraged and boosted Aaron’s confidence.

"I know! I will do my best, sir!" Aaron promptly responded, turning to Dominique with his bright smile.

"Alright. I have to go now to entertain the other customers. It’s nice having you here." The store manager returned to the counter.

Dominique gazed at Aaron, giving him a questioning look. "Why didn’t you tell him I’m not your father?"

Aaron smiled sheepishly and scratched his face. "I’m sorry, Mr. Dominique. Did I offend you for pretending to be your son?"

"Of course not..." he replied.

Aaron softly giggled, giving him a grateful look. "It’s my dream to bond with my father like this. However, I haven’t met him yet. My father has been missing for years. My mother and my Uncle are still searching for him."

Dominique’s gaze softened with understanding upon hearing that. "I hope you find your father soon."

"Thank you, Mr. Dominique. Uhmm... If you don’t mind me asking... are you still single or married? Do you have a son or a daughter?" Aaron’s curiosity was piqued so he bombarded Dominique with a series of questions

"I’m married. But we don’t have a child yet." Dominique plainly responded.

"But why? Do you hate kids?" Aaron probed.

Dominique fell silent for a moment, finding the right words to answer that question.

’I don’t hate kids... But I haven’t thought of building a family of my own. My marriage with Sabrina was part of my revenge. However, during the time I spent with her... I once imagined raising our children together.’ He smiled bitterly at that thought. ’Perhaps, if only Sabrina got pregnant back then... I would have chosen to forget about my revenge.’

"Mr. Dominique? Are you alright? Did I say something wrong?" Aaron was bothered by Dominique’s long silence, noticing a tinge of sadness in his eyes.

The soft, innocent voice of Aaron jolted Dominique from his reverie, bringing him back to the present moment. "Oh, it’s nothing, Aaron," Dominique replied, his gaze momentarily distant as he recalled memories of someone dear to him.

"Hmm. To answer your curious question..." he paused, his hand gently reaching out to tousle Aaron’s hair, "I don’t hate kids. It’s just that... I think... I’m not yet ready to be a father. I don’t know if I can be a good father."

’Because I’m the worst husband in the world,’ Dominique added in his thought.

Sensing Dominique’s complicated emotions, Aaron closed their gaps and held his hand, gently squeezing his palm to comfort him. "I know you can be a good father, Mister Dominique."

Dominique was touched by Aaron’s words. "You are good at comforting people, Aaron."

They were still talking when suddenly someone called Dominique’s name from behind. Ashton finally showed up!

"Dominique! I’ve been looking all over for you!" Ashton exclaimed as he approached them. "Next time, could you be a bit more specific? There are tons of music stores in this mall. Anyway, what are you..." Ashton’s words trailed off as he noticed the young boy standing beside Dominique.

His eyes widened in disbelief as he carefully examined the boy from head to toe. Once he finished scrutinizing the boy, he redirected his gaze to Dominique, blinking several times in surprise.

"Dom... I had no idea... you have a son?! How long have you been keeping this from us? And who is the mother?" Ashton asked exasperatedly, darting his gaze back and forth between Aaron and Dominique.
