His Mistress is His Ex-Wife
Chapter 150: Hello Honey

Chapter 150: Hello Honey

"Huh? Mr. De Luca? Who is that?"

Both guys looked at Lanny with different reactions.

The guy in his leather jacket became confused. "I’m not De Luca? Who are you talking about, Miss?"

Lanny narrowed her eyes at him. "If you are not De Luca, then who are you?"

"What? You don’t know me at all?" the guy exclaimed in disbelief.

Even the bodyguards were surprised that this woman didn’t know their Boss.

"No way! Boss, don’t believe her! She is lying. She just wanted to catch your attention by pretending she didn’t know you." The leader of the bodyguards butted in, stepping in the middle to separate his Boss from Lanny.

The bystanders who heard the bodyguards’s remarks began talking about Lanny, giving her a strange look. Some women also threw her a sharp glare, feeling jealous because she managed to talk to that famous guy.

"I can’t believe it. Which planet did she come from? How come she didn’t know him?"

"I think the guard is right. She is just pretending. Now, she got our idol’s attention."

"What a shameless and pretentious woman?! Get out of there!"

Lanny pursed her lips. She was losing her patience. She didn’t care about this guy.

"If you are not Mr. De Luca, then I have no reason to talk to you. I’m sorry. I mistook you for someone." Lanny apologized.

She was about to bow her head but the stranger wearing a cap stopped her. He immediately grabbed Lanny’s hand, pulling her back to the bench.

"Let’s go!" The stranger said, saving Lanny from the jealous eyes of the bystanders.

"Don’t waste your time with the wrong guy," the man said meaningfully, smiling at her.

Lanny could only bob her head, rubbing her temples. "Sigh. It’s my fault. I thought he was the one I was waiting for."

"I have enough! I’m going to leave now." Lanny grabbed her bag that was placed on the bench.

She was about to head to the exit when the man stopped her once again. "Wait for me. I’m going to leave as well."

Lanny frowned when she heard that. "I thought you were waiting for your wife?"

"Yes. But I–"

He wasn’t able to finish his statement when the bodyguard interrupted them by yanking Lanny’s hand.

"Where do you think you are going? Don’t be so rude. Our boss is not done talking to you. He is asking for your presence. Come with us. He is waiting in the parking area." The head bodyguard commanded Lanny.

"Let go of her hand!" the stranger said in his threatening tone. The smile on his face disappeared. He was now looking daggers at the rude bodyguard.

"And who are you? Do you want to pick a fight with me?" The bodyguard challenged the man, flexing the gun in his waist.

"Are you forcing a woman to come with you?" The man spat back at the rude bodyguard.

"Just a while ago, you were pushing her away from your Boss. And now, you are pulling her back to him," he added, ridiculing the bodyguard. "How could you mistreat a woman here?"

Lanny blinked in amusement as she observed the stranger. She didn’t expect that he would stand up for her even though they didn’t know each other.

’Oh, man. Don’t tell me he is trying to defend me from this jerk just because I let him borrow my charger. Is this his way of repaying me for my good deeds?’

Lanny could easily handle the bodyguard. She knew lots of moves to silence him. But she just allowed the man to defend her as she was curious what he would do next.

"I’m not mistreating her. I’m just doing my job. First, it’s my job to protect my Boss from strangers. Second, I came here because my Boss wanted to talk to her. He summoned her. I’m just following his order!" He retorted.

The bodyguard didn’t know why but the moment he met the eyes of the man, he suddenly felt a goosebump. His gaze held the power to intimidate someone like him. The man didn’t even cower in fear even though he showed him his gun.

’Who is this guy? I could feel the chilly aura emanating from him.’ the bodyguard thought to himself.

"She is not going anywhere. You should go! And don’t bother her!" he sternly said.

He pulled her to his side as part of his protective gesture, creating a distance between Lanny and the rude bodyguard.

The bodyguard glared at the man. He was about to throw a punch but the man was quick enough to block it, capturing his wrist and twisting it hard.

"Arrgh!!" The bodyguard whimpered in pain. He struggled to free himself but the man overpowered him. He couldn’t believe that the man managed to immobilize him.

The man moved closer to the bodyguard and whispered, "I’m counting one to five. If you don’t leave right now, I will break your arm."

The bodyguard’s eyes widened in fear. The man sounded scary. His words sent shivers down his spine. He knew that the man was not joking. There was a killer intent in his eyes as he stared at him.

"Fine! Let go. I will leave!" the bodyguard yelled at him.

Without a second thought, the man finally released the bodyguard’s hand. Before he could do anything, the rude immediately ran away from them.

Lanny could only watch the scene with disbelief. The man before her knew how to fight.

’Hmm... so dependable.’ She smiled at that thought.

"Sigh. Finally, the nuisance is gone," he mumbled. Then he turned to Lanny. "Are you alright? May I see your hand?"

The man checked her wrist. A cold glint flashed through his eyes when he saw the mark of the tight grip of that bodyguard on her hand.

"I should have beat him up."

Lanny just giggled, patting his shoulder. "You are a good fighter. You scared him away. He ran away like a dog tucking his tail in between his legs."

The man put on a satisfied smile when Lanny praised him.

"Yeah. I should have punched him. But I don’t want to create a scene here. We are in a public place."

Lanny just nodded her head in understanding. "Thank you again."

"I should go now. Take care of yourself." Lanny bid her goodbye to the generous stranger who protected her.

She was about to leave but the man spoke again, holding her hand.

"I’m hungry," the man blurted out with a knowing smile on his face.

Lanny arched her eyebrow and asked, "So?"

"If you are truly grateful to me, then why don’t you treat me a dinner?" he asked her meaningfully.

Lanny blinked her eyes, wondering if he was serious or not. "But you just ate a while ago. You even bought a sandwich. Are you still hungry? And besides, you are here to wait for your wife, right? What if she suddenly comes while you are not around?"

The man just gave her a reassuring smile. "Don’t worry. She’s not going anywhere without me."

Lanny frowned. His words didn’t make sense at all. ’Perhaps he is lying. He doesn’t have a wife.’

She looked at him suspiciously. But before she could refuse, the man immediately grabbed his backpack and his phone. He gave the charger back to her.

"Let’s go. I got hungry after facing that jerk. My energy has been drained. You have to feed me," he said jokingly.

Lanny narrowed her eyes at him once again. "Are you trying to hit with me? Do you like me?"

The man just let out a soft chuckle. "What if I said yes... what would you do?"

"I’ll turn you down right away. At first, you said you had a wife. And now, you are trying to flirt with me. That’s a red flag. I should avoid you."

After saying that, Lanny walked away, not looking back. She didn’t want to waste her time, fooling around with a stranger. She was tired already and she was annoyed since Dmitri De Luca didn’t show up.

She heaved a sigh of relief when the stranger didn’t follow her. But she just reached the exit gate when her phone rang. She picked it up and checked who was the person calling her.

She frowned when she saw an unknown caller. The number wasn’t registered to her phone.

’Hmm. Unknown number. Is this Dmitri’s number?’

Lanny answered the call. "Hello. Who is this?"

"Lanny Ivankov... It’s me. Dmitri De Luca," said the man from the other line.

The crease on her forehead deepened further after hearing his voice. ’Wait. This voice. Why does it sound familiar?’

"Where are you? I’ve been waiting for you for two hours now," she complained.

Dmitri chuckled and replied, "Turn around. And you will see me."

Lanny did as he told. She turned around only to see the man who borrowed her charger earlier. He was standing a few steps away from her, grinning from ear to ear. He was holding his phone in his ear as he was talking to someone over the phone.

"Hello, Honey. I’ve been waiting for you as well for almost three hours now."

Lanny: "..."
