"V..." Athena’s voice caught in her throat, her eyes wide with surprise.

Vladimir’s action caused her to fall on top of him. She felt the warmth of his body beneath her, his strong arms wrapping around her securely.

Her heart pounded in her chest as she found herself face-to-face with Vladimir, their breaths mingling in the sudden closeness.

Vladimir’s penetrating gaze locked onto hers, a mix of longing and something deeper reflected in his eyes.

"Athena," he murmured, his voice low and steady. "I know I don’t have the right to feel this way. But I couldn’t help it."

Athena’s mind raced, but she couldn’t tear her eyes away from his.

’Why does he look so sad? What made him upset?’ she mused to herself.

As Vladimir continued holding her in place while his intense gaze was fixed on her, she felt an electric charge in the air– a magnetic pull between them that she couldn’t deny.

Then she recalled Vladimir’s confession. Her cheeks flushed as she struggled to find her voice, her body acutely aware of every point of contact with his. Their current position was a bit awkward for both of them.

"V... what are you doing?" she finally managed to whisper, her voice trembling slightly. "Are you really drunk?"

Vladimir’s expression softened, his thumb gently brushing against her cheek. "Showing you how much you mean to me," he replied, his voice filled with sincerity. "I’m jealous. I’ve wanted to pull you away from Gael, but I couldn’t. He is your best friend. But I can’t help it. I feel jealous seeing you having so much fun with your best friend."

Athena’s heart skipped a beat. She could see the depth of his feelings in his eyes, and at that certain moment, she realized her mistake. She had neglected Vladimir earlier. She focused on catching up with Gael, not realizing that Vladimir had started to feel jealous of Gael.

She took a shaky breath, her hand reaching up to rest against his chest. "V... It wasn’t my intention. Gael is just my friend. We haven’t seen each other for a week... that’s why, we had a catching-up tonight."

Athena tried to appease Vladimir’s jealous heart.

Before she could say another word, Vladimir closed the remaining distance between them. Athena’s eyes fluttered shut as she expected Vladimir to capture her lips with his own lips. Her heart pounded so hard from nervousness and anticipation.

’Is this fine? Should I let him kiss me? Am I ready for this?’ Athena didn’t know what she should do. She just closed her eyes, waiting for his lips to touch hers.

However, it never happened. Vladimir’s lips landed on her forehead. Yes! He tried his best to control the urge to kiss her on her lips. In the end, he kissed her forehead as a sign of his respect and admiration for her.

Athena didn’t know whether to feel relieved or disappointed. She was too embarrassed to look at him. So she buried her face on his chest. She thought Vladimir would kiss her on the lips but he never did.

’Damn! He is such a gentleman.’ Athena stayed still on top of him.

Vladimir didn’t want to rush things or pressure Athena. He was content just being with her right now. Athena’s explanation had eased his jealousy toward Gael if only a little.

"Athena... can we remain like this for a while? My head is spinning. I can’t stand up," Vladimir lied. He just wanted to keep hugging Athena in this position.

To his surprise, Athena didn’t refuse his request. She even comfortably lay her head on his chest.

"Alright. Just five more minutes, Lanny might be looking for me. We are supposed to go home together. They are waiting for me in the parking area."

When Vladimir heard that, he immediately picked up the phone from his pocket to send a message to his sister, Lanny.

"I’ll tell her to head home first. I’ll send you home myself," Vladimir suggested as he began typing his message. His other hand continued securing Athena in his embrace.

"Okay. Do as you please," Athena gave him her permission.

She had to admit that Vladimir was slowly making his way into her heart. Despite her reluctance to open up, she couldn’t deny the undeniable connection that sparked between them at times.

His patience, sincerity, and understanding were beginning to wear down her walls, and she found herself drawn to his unwavering devotion.

Athena often caught herself thinking about the little things Vladimir did for her, the way he always seemed to know when she needed support, and how he respected her boundaries without question.

It was these moments that made her realize how easy it could be to fall in love with him when she was ready.

’Vladimir said he would wait for me. Should I rely on his words? Am I not being unfair to him? Behind his back, I’m approaching the man who made my life miserable... the reason for my revenge. I do intimate acts with Dominique... Thinking about this... I feel like I don’t deserve Vladimir’s love.’

’Should I just push him away? I don’t want Vladimir to hate me. But I don’t want to take advantage of his kindness... take advantage of his pure love.’

’As long as I have involvement with Dominique, I can’t truly be happy with anyone... with any man,’ Athena sighed inwardly.

Without realizing it, she wrapped her arms around Vladimir’s body, seeking comfort. The moment Vladimir felt her embrace, his body tensed. Her soft form pressed against his sturdy frame, and he took a deep breath, trying to calm his raging desire.

"Are you alright? Is something bothering you?" Vladimir asked gently, his hand softly stroking her hair and back.

He needed to divert his attention and engage her in conversation, otherwise, he would keep thinking about kissing her right there and pinning her to the couch.

He couldn’t believe he had this much control over his burning desire. If he didn’t care about scaring Athena away, he would have crossed their boundaries already.

’Good job, V. Good job for being a gentleman. But with her in my arms like this... how long can I restrain myself?’
