Enzo was trying to absorb Lanny’s words. He couldn’t understand why she suddenly acted this way. He had been staying in her condo unit for days but this was the first time Lanny made this strange request from him.

’She wants me to touch her. No. I can’t do that. If I do, I feel like I’m cheating on Alice. I can’t do that.’

Alice was the reason why Enzo tried his best to fight the temptation brought by Lanny.

Taking a deep sigh, Enzo finally moved, gently removing Lanny’s hands that were wrapped around his body.

He grabbed the blanket nearby, using it to cover Lanny’s nakedness. He wrapped her body and he stood in front of her with a serious expression on his face.

"Lanny, I’m sorry. I can’t do this. This is unfair for both of you and Alice," He softly said, holding her shoulders.

"Even though we were doing this kind of thing in the past, it doesn’t mean we can do it again now. Our situation is different from before. I don’t remember anything and I have a girlfriend."

Lanny fell silent for a moment. She knew it. This guy was too good for her. He had always been righteous. Enzo only agreed to their deal five years ago because he wasn’t dating anyone at that time.

But his situation was different now. He was now in love with Alice.

"I care about her feelings..." Enzo added, feeling sorry for Lanny.

Because of this, Enzo found another reason why he needed to leave Lanny’s condo unit. After rejecting her request, things would become more awkward between them.

"Are you sure about that, Enzo?" She asked him because she knew that Enzo’s body reacted to her touch.

"We can do this. We will not tell Alice. I promise. I will never ask you to break up with Alice. I will never get in your way. I won’t ruin your relationship. What I am asking you is to touch me just because I need to relieve myself." Lanny tried to convince him.

But Enzo shook his head. "This is not about Alice not knowing this. This is about me being faithful to her... not breaking her trust."

"I can’t allow a one-time pleasure to ruin our trust in each other. I should behave even behind her back."

At that certain moment, Lanny’s heart constricted. She felt jealous of Alice. And she realized that not all men could be tempted.

’I’m glad Enzo is different from Athena’s ex-husband.’ She thought to herself.

"I wish all men were like you, Enzo." Lanny smiled faintly, a hint of sadness reflecting in her eyes.

"Fine. You can leave. I’ll just put some clothes on." Lanny heaved a sigh of defeat.

She didn’t want to look desperate in his eyes. She had a pride to protect. Though she was hurting inside, she concealed it from him.

Meanwhile, Enzo nodded and stepped back, releasing her shoulders. Without any further delay, he left her room in a hurry.

Bam!

The sound of the door closing resounded. Enzo placed his palm on his chest and took a deep breath, still trying to calm his racing heart.

He looked down and scolded himself when he noticed his boner. He had to admit that he almost yielded to the temptation. Lanny was a beautiful woman. And his body seemed to be physically attracted to her.

If he weren’t thinking about Alice, then he would have never hesitated to fulfill her request.

"Lanny, when you are done, let’s eat." Enzo acted as if nothing happened inside the room. He didn’t want Lanny to feel ashamed or uncomfortable in his presence.

Lanny didn’t respond to him. She just put on her clothes and dried her wet hair.

A few minutes later, she finally stepped out of her room while Enzo was waiting for her in the dining area.

"Enzo, go ahead and eat without me. I’m going out," Lanny informed him.

Enzo’s brows furrowed as he took in her attire—a sleek, black casual dress that exuded an undeniable allure. She looked so hot and stunning, ready to party all night!

Rising from his seat, Enzo couldn’t help but voice his concern. "Where are you going at this hour?"

"To a club," she responded with a playful smirk, her eyes sparkling mischievously.

"Since you turned me down... I’ll find someone else to keep me company tonight. Someone who can fulfill my desires," she added, emphasizing her statement with a playful wink.

Enzo’s expression darkened at her words, a surge of jealousy and unease coursing through him. He had the urge to stop her but he didn’t have the right.

’No. Don’t go.’ He wanted to say those words but those words were caught in his throat.

Since Enzo remained silent, Lanny decided to leave.

"Good night, Enzo. Sleep well. Don’t wait for me," She said meaningfully as she walked away.

Enzo could only watch as she walked away, her figure disappearing into the distance until she was out of sight.

With a heavy heart, he sank back into his seat, his gaze lingering on the untouched food laid out before him.

"I can’t help but wonder if Lanny has made a habit of this with other men... Doesn’t she have a boyfriend? Someone who can share these intimate moments with her, rather than seeking out random guys in a club?"

A sudden wave of melancholy washed over him, stealing his appetite and leaving him with a hollow ache in the pit of his stomach.

In the end, Enzo didn’t touch the food. He just put them in the fridge. He headed to his room to clear his mind and gather his emotions.

He kept pacing back and forth across his room. Deep inside, he was worried about Lanny. The thought of her making out with a stranger made him feel uncomfortable.

"Damn! I should have stopped her. I’m her friend. Hooking up with some random guys is not good for her!" Enzo complained to himself.

Considering Lanny’s well-being, Enzo decided to call Athena. He thought she was the only one who could stop Lanny from doing the wrong thing.
