His Mistress is His Ex-Wife
Chapter 105: Courage

Chapter 105: Courage

Lanny had her suspicion. If Athena was not in Gael’s house, then she might be with either Ashton or Dominique. But she wondered why she didn’t return home.

She bit her lower lip, watching her brother anxiously. She could tell that Vladimir was furious and jealous. Aside from that, he was worried sick about Athena.

"Calm down, Bro. Athena can protect herself. She won’t let anyone take advantage of her. We taught her how to fight and defend herself." Lanny tried to pacify Vladimir.

But her words didn’t have an effect on him. "Protect herself? But she just got into an accident yesterday. What if this person is a bad guy? What if he drugged her?" His imagination was running wild.

"I already dispatched my team to find her!" Vladimir added.

"What did you say? Athena got into an accident? Is she okay? Yeah! We should find her!" Enzo butted in, worrying about Athena.

Lanny could only shake her head helplessly, facepalming. The two men were both overly protective of Athena.

"Can you both stop overthinking and panicking? Athena is just fine. I can assure you that." Lanny insisted. After saying that, she walked away, heading to her room. She just yawned and stretched her hands nonchalantly.

Enzo and Vladimir exchanged glances with one another. They couldn’t believe that Lanny was confident about Athena being safe with that guy.

But unknown to them, Lanny immediately picked up her phone upon reaching her bedroom. She quickly sent a message to Athena.

[ Athena?! Where are you? Please go home as soon as possible, otherwise someone might turn the city upside down! My brother has dispatched his men to find you. You know him. ]

Lanny just hoped Athena would be able to read her message. She was afraid that once Vladimir’s men found them, her brother might do something to the guy who was with Athena right now.

He was furious when the man over the phone claimed himself as Athena’s boyfriend.

"They must not cross paths!" Lanny rubbed her temples as she thought of the possible chaos once Vladimir met Dominique.

If Vladimir learned about Athena’s past and her real identity, Lanny was certain that Vladimir wouldn’t stand still. He would avenge Athena himself, making Dominique and the members of the Williams Family suffer. He wouldn’t show mercy on them.

When it came to ruthlessness, Vladimir surpassed her on several levels. He tends to be violent and aggressive when taking revenge, while Lanny’s strategy is a bit different.

She focused more on the emotional and psychological aspects of revenge. She might not hurt you physically, but she would make you suffer emotionally and mentally.

"Hmmm. Athena’s number is unattended. Her phone has been switched off..." Lanny mumbled after trying to call her friend.

"Tsk, Tsk, Tsk... No wonder my brother is boiling with rage. He could no longer contact Athena." Lanny just exhaled deeply.

Meanwhile, in the living room, Enzo and Vladimir stayed rooted in their spot.

"Vlad, sit down first. I’ll get us some cold drinks." Enzo could also feel that Vladimir was in a bad mood. He needed to cool down a little bit. His emotions were running so high.

Without further ado, Enzo proceeded to the kitchen, grabbing two canned beers inside the refrigerator. As he returned to the living room, he settled down next to Vladimir and handed him the beer.

Vladimir accepted it and drank it in one go as if he was thirsty. When he finished drinking the beer, he clutched the empty can in his hand, gripping it tightly.

"I want to kill someone right now..." Vladimir said through his gritted teeth.

Meanwhile, Enzo just watched him in understanding. He knew the reason why Vladimir was acting this way.

"You like Athena, don’t you?" Enzo asked Vladimir directly.

Vladimir was taken aback for a moment, casting a look at Enzo. He saw him smiling faintly. Subconsciously, Vladimir nodded in response to that. He would never deny his feelings for Athena.

"Yes. I like her..." His expression softened a little bit when he said those words, Athena’s charming face flashed in his mind.

"Did you tell her? Have you confessed your feelings for her?" Enzo asked Vladimir seriously.

Vladimir’s eyes turned gloomy. "No. I haven’t told her yet. I am afraid of rejection... and she might not be ready to accept my feelings."

This time Enzo held Vladimir’s shoulder, patting it gently. "If you truly like her then you must tell her now. What are you waiting for? You might regret not telling her sooner. How would she know how you truly felt if you wouldn’t tell her?" Enzo sounded like a concerned friend, giving advice to his problematic friend.

Vladimir remained silent, just listening to Enzo.

"Athena is a wonderful woman. Many men will chase after her. Don’t delay it further. You should be honest with her and your feelings. Take action now and confess your love before it becomes too late." Enzo continued to encourage Vladimir.

"I could tell that you truly care for her... You love her." Enzo kept telling Vladimir his observation.

"Don’t be afraid of rejection. You should be afraid of another guy stealing her away from you."

Listening to Enzo’s words, Vladimir had come to a realization. He was right and his points had made sense to him.

"Yeah, Bro. I think you are right. I am more afraid of losing her without putting up a fight. I shouldn’t hold back anymore. I must tell her now." Vladimir said with a newfound determination.

"Yes. Just tell her." Enzo supported him. "You might not get an answer from her. But at least, she will know what you truly feel about her. And you will know if you have a chance."

Vladimir bobbed his head in agreement. "That’s right. I have to do it now! Thanks, Enzo... for enlightening me." Vladimir felt grateful to Enzo. He just made him realize the most important thing.

"I have to go! I should go back to Athena’s place. She told me to wait for her. I have to trust her..." Vladimir rose from his seat and dashed out of the apartment.

He finally made up his mind. He would confess to Athena. He chose to believe Lanny’s words– Athena doesn’t have a boyfriend!

Thinking about it, Vladimir’s anger lessened. He should not jump to conclusions. He should hear it from Athena herself.

Soon, Vladimir drove back to Athena’s place. He decided to wait for her, hoping that she would return home soon.

[ At Golden Villa... ]

Meanwhile, Dominique fixed Athena’s position on the couch. He made her lay comfortably on the couch surface. Athena was still sound asleep.

Since his arm was injured, he couldn’t carry her to a guest room. He wanted to transfer her but he couldn’t. In the end, he just covered her body with a warm blanket.

He watched her sleeping figure closely as he settled next to her. He was thankful to her since she stayed by his side. Her presence helped him ease his pain.

"Athena... how I wish... you are Sabrina..." Dominique broke his silence. His hand reached out, gently caressing her cheeks. He was careful not to wake her up.

Dominique was still having conflicting thoughts right now. His suspicion has been cleared. Athena was not Sabrina. And Sabrina was gone for good.

But no matter what, he couldn’t stay away from Athena. "Your resemblance to her... is the reason why I want to stick with you..." Dominique admitted to himself.

"My mind knows you are not her... but why is it... my heart is getting jealous knowing that you are close to another guy. You are not even mine in the first place. But I am affected by the guy who called you a while ago."

Dominique had finally acknowledged that he was jealous of Vladimir. He sensed that Athena and that guy had a special relationship.

"If you already have someone special in your heart, then why? Why did you offer yourself to me? Why do you want to become my woman?" Dominique was still confused about Athena’s real motive. He was completely clueless.

Dominique continued to scan her face, his eyes fixed on her, engraving her beauty in his mind.

’If she’s gone... I don’t know how I will move forward... Athena... I need you... hoping that you can make me forget my pain. My sadness.’ Dominique decided to try to determine whether he could really move on and forget Sabrina with the help of Athena.

’Will she be able to replace you in my heart, Sab?’ he asked himself, still staring at Athena.

As if Athena had sensed someone’s gaze, she finally moved and slowly opened her eyes. She immediately locked eyes with Dominique.

"Dom?" she whispered, eyeing Dominique with disbelief.

"You are finally awake. Transfer to the guest room so that you can sleep comfortably in bed." Dominique softly said.

"What time is it?" Athena rubbed her eyes as she sat up.

"4:35 am..." Dominique responded.

Athena gasped and her eyes widened when she recalled something. ’Oh my God! Vladimir was waiting for me at my house. I forgot to message him last night that I couldn’t go home!’
