Chapter 175: Chapter 99 Her Majesty the Queen_1
The tertiary institution’s Campus Work Committee had equipped every classroom in the main academic building with a group of pixies who double as janitors during breaks between classes.
Due to differences in classroom sizes, the number of pixies varied. Smaller classrooms generally had three to five pixies, while larger lecture halls were assigned more than ten.
The East 601 of the main educational building, located in the most light-filled area of the sixth floor, was of moderate size. However, at this moment along the wooden frame of the blackboard, about twenty pixies were perched in a row.
Only about seven to eight of these pixies were dressed in the gray uniforms of the campus work committee; the rest were in their usual green gossamer robes.
These casually clothed pixies were brought by Zheng Qing.
In accordance with Doctor Duzemu’s requirements, she had to administer a simple physical exam to the pixies every two hours when they were awake, and then keep records for future follow-ups.
To facilitate this, Zheng Qing had simply bought a large backpack, modified it into a micro-haven for the pixies, and carried it on her back as she moved from classroom to classroom every day.
Whenever these pixies arrived at a classroom, they would leave the big backpack and go play with the janitor pixies working there.
This spellcasting class was no exception.
When Professor Yao summoned a gorilla, the naturally timid pixies hurriedly hid behind the hefty lecture notes on the teaching desk.
Facing their ’Hehe, Hehe!’ protestations, Old Yao only smiled, puffing at his pipe as if he hadn’t heard anything.
After Li Meng fainted from holding in her spell, the janitor pixies were the first to rush to her side.
"Hehe, Hehe!"
Seven or eight of the pixies in gray uniforms trembled in fear as they lined up between the gorilla and Li Meng, while Zheng Qing’s pixies after a moment’s hesitation, zipped to her side and tried to push her towards Li Meng.
Zheng Qing was taken aback; Jiang Yu and Professor Yao had already made a few quick strides over to Li Meng.
The other students in the class also quickly reacted, chaotically pushing towards the front.
"Don’t push, don’t push." Class President Tang Dun was loudly calling in the midst of the crowd, "Leave some space, the patient needs fresh air!"
Despite his call to action, everyone continued to elbow their way to the front and began to talk in hushed, urgent tones about the little witch who had fainted.
The aftermath of the misadventure at the Wandering Bar wasn’t far behind; many of the students who had attended the event still clearly remembered that this genius girl, who couldn’t hold her liquor, was the legendary Spirit Witch.
Could this be a result of the last treatment’s side-effects?
People speculated and discussed.
Professor Yao frowned as he examined Li Meng’s complexion, observed her eyelids carefully, quickly flipped through a few pages of the Law book, then finally exhaled in relief as a green glow flowed from the Law book.
"It’s okay, it’s okay," he nodded to Jiang Yu and then looked at the other students, "Everyone, give her some space."
The students rushed to clear a large space as per Old Yao’s instructions.
The gorilla squatted at the front of the lecture stage, seemed to realize the trouble it caused, and tiptoed carefully to the corner of the classroom, poking its head out to watch the collapsed little witch.
"She merely failed to breathe correctly and was choked by the spell." Old Yao took out a round, metallic box from his pocket, inside was a fine, olive-green powder. He used his pinky to scoop up a bit of the powder and held it under Li Meng’s nose.
A few seconds later, Li Meng woke up sneezing.
"That’s unacceptable, with such a small courage, how can she deal with demons, huh..." A slightly awkward Old Yao, who had gotten up, laughed heartily as he said, "Remember to breathe properly while casting spells... this is middle school content, you all should have some foundation in it."
Zheng Qing vigoruosly shook her head.
Meanwhile, Li Meng, with red-ringed eyes, kept on sneezing incessantly.
"Everyone move back, move back," Old Yao waved his hands, shooing the students back to their original positions, "Lin Meng just performed a spell incorrectly, is there anyone who is willing to..."
Before he could finish, Jiang Yu took a step forward and stood out.
"I’ll go." She reached a hand behind her head, quickly tying her long black hair into a simple bun. With a stern expression, she looked towards the gorilla huddled in the corner of classroom and said, "I’ll try."
Professor Yao chuckled, flicked his fingers, and called the gorilla back to the front.
The gorilla scratched its chin and shuffled over clumsily.
"I just said that I don’t have a middle school foundation. Why is the professor ignoring me?" Zheng Qing elbowed Xiao Xiao beside him and complained, "Are there any particularities to the breathing when chanting spells?"
"Just follow the same breathing rhythm as when you do your morning workouts," Xiao Xiao answered simply, not bothering to look up from his notebook.
"What was with those little elves just now? I’ve never seen them so brave before." Zheng Qing rubbed the little elf perched on his shoulder and nudged Xiao Xiao again.
This time, Xiao Xiao finally put down his notebook.
He looked up angrily at Zheng Qing, and didn’t answer until Zheng Qing averted his eyes shamefully. He said indignantly, "That’s one of the reasons why they are not considered to possess independent intelligence by wizards."
"When alchemists first created the little elves, they set a priority in their logic: the wizard’s life ranks first. Any group of little elves must firstly ensure the safety of the wizard."
"The inability to avoid logical defects during the thinking process or even to avoid harm doesn’t count as an independent intelligent life."
"That’s inhumane!" Zheng Qing widened his eyes.
"Are you talking about humanity to a bunch of little elves?" Xiao Xiao scoffed.
Zheng Qing found this familiar.
"On the private plane back then, these little elves..." Zheng Qing subtly gestured with his eyes, asking Xiao Xiao in an implicit way why his elves didn’t protect the female crew member.
"Probably because the demoness was too fast," Xiao Xiao simply analyzed.
Zheng Qing fell silent.
Kneeling in front of her at the podium, Jiang Yu was already flipping through her sea-green law book.
The classroom fell quiet again.
Everyone held their breath, focusing intently on the standoff at the center of the room.
Up at the lectern, Professor Yao nodded his head, indicating it was time to begin.
The silverback gorilla stood on his knuckles, baring his sharp fangs in a threatening roar.
Softly stroking her law book, Jiang Yu shouted, "Ge Zhitianxi, strike this beast!"
A streak of light flowed out from her law book, shimmering in the open air.
Fine tendrils sprouted from the air around the gorilla, growing into thick ropes that snaked around its stiff joints and crevices, pinning it in place.
Just as the gorilla opened its mouth to roar, a large tendril forcefully jabbed in.
Zheng Qing couldn’t bear to watch anymore, he shifted his gaze downward, only to recoil in horror when he saw a sharp tendril winding its way towards the gorilla’s backside.
"This chick is ruthless." Xin Fat Man whispered nervously to Duan Xiao Jian.
But the latter was gazing in apparent admiration, passionately whispering, "Oh, Your Majesty!"
Zheng Qing turned his back, giving up on giving any comments.
