Chapter 418: Husband’s Infidelity
Chapter 418: Chapter 418: Husband’s Infidelity
Yunlie couldn’t bear to reject Mu Huaner again.
Thinking it would be only half an hour and indeed wouldn’t take long, he agreed.
"Alright, but as soon as half an hour is up, I must go back."
"Sure, just half an hour! Let’s go, there’s good wine in the club tonight."
Mu Huaner nudged Yunlie further inside; her disdain for Yan Qianyi deepened.
Without Yan Qianyi in the past, no matter how late she asked Ah Lie to stay drinking with her, Ah Lie would never refuse, unless he had important work that couldn’t be delayed.
Now with Yan Qianyi around, she had to cajole and restrict Ah Lie’s time just to have him accompany her for a drink.
Yan Qianyi kept such a tight leash on Ah Lie that even if she weren’t Shu Meng’s daughter, Mu Huaner wouldn’t like her.
If it were Ning Nuan, none of this would have happened.
Mu Huaner sneakily turned back to look at Ning Nuan and gave her an "OK" hand signal.
She had already prepared the drink; as long as Ah Lie drank it, he and Ning Nuan could have an actual relationship tonight.
Back in the room, Mu Huaner handed Yunlie the prepared drink.
Yunlie took a sip and looked at Ning Nuan, who sat obediently aside.
He now dared not easily anger Qianyi, especially since Qianyi was pregnant and couldn’t afford to get upset.
So some things, he felt should be made even clearer to Ning Nuan.
Noticing Yunlie’s gaze casting over, Ning Nuan’s heart leaped with joy.
Brother Ah Lie had only taken one sip; was the medicine taking effect so quickly?
Yunlie spoke, "Nuannuan, Qianyi is now pregnant and prone to overthinking, so you should visit the Nangong Family less frequently, lest Qianyi find out and misunderstand our relationship."
Upon hearing this, Ning Nuan’s heart suddenly sank.
Her eyes instantly reddened, and she nodded with downcast eyes, her demeanor at once obedient yet extremely aggrieved.
"Ah Lie, you’re being a bit harsh on Nuannuan," Mu Huaner interjected.
"The Duke and Duchess have watched Nuannuan grow up; to her, they’re as close as grandparents. The Duke has been unwell lately, and Nuannuan’s frequent visits are from filial piety. What’s there to misunderstand? Qianyi shouldn’t be unreasonable."
Having finished talking to Yunlie, Mu Huaner gently patted Nuannuan’s shoulder, consoling, "Don’t cry, Nuannuan. Your Brother Ah Lie isn’t blaming you."
Ning Nuan hadn’t been crying, merely holding back tears in her eyes.
But Mu Huaner’s comforting caused the tears to fall just in time.
Seeing her pitiful look, Yunlie frowned but still clarified, "Alright, if you want to go, then go. I’m not blaming you. I just don’t want Qianyi to misunderstand."
He had always treated Ning Nuan as a sister.
The only childhood companion by his side was Ning Nuan.
Even though he felt no romantic love towards Ning Nuan, there was still some other kind of affection.
All he hoped was that Ning Nuan could understand her place properly.
Ning Nuan wiped her tears, "Brother Ah Lie, I understand what you mean. Don’t worry, I had already clarified with Qianyi face-to-face that our relationship is purely fraternal. I made it very clear to her; I think she won’t misunderstand."
Yunlie asked, "You’ve spoken to Qianyi about this?"
"Yes, I was worried that our previous engagement as children would cause her undue concern, so I explained it to her in person."
"That’s good then." Yunlie’s slightly knitted brow relaxed, thinking he had been overly suspicious.
After all, Ning Nuan was always so obedient and sensible before him.
"Nuannuan is so considerate," Mu Huaner stroked Ning Nuan’s head, smiling, "Whoever marries our Nuannuan will be the happiest man in the world."
Ning Nuan shyly smiled, "I’m not as wonderful as little aunt says."
"Of course, you are! Come, cheers!"
By the third glass, Yunlie’s expression gradually became blurry.
He raised his hand to his forehead, feeling a bit dizzy.
"Ah Lie, what’s wrong?" Mu Huaner asked.
"Suddenly feeling a bit unwell."
"Is it because the alcohol content is high? Are you a bit drunk?"
"No matter, I’ll go back first."
Yunlie was very clear about his alcohol tolerance; he wouldn’t get drunk after just two glasses of red wine.
He never would have imagined that his most trusted and cared-for family member would set him up, so he didn’t think too much about it.
He just thought there was something wrong with his body.
Yan Qianyi had admonished him many times to avoid drinking during detoxification.
Because alcohol could stimulate the toxins in his body.
As soon as Yunlie stood up, he suddenly felt the world spinning and quickly supported himself with his hands on the tabletop.
Mu Huaner went up to him and supported his arm, "Are you feeling unwell? There are suites upstairs in the club for resting; let me help you up there to rest a bit."
"No need, I’m going back now," Yunlie’s voice also became weak and feeble.
He had promised Qianyi to return early.
Qianyi was still waiting for him; he must get back as soon as possible.
"How can you go back like this? Listen to little aunt’s words and rest for a while."
Without any hesitation, Mu Huaner supported Yunlie toward the elevator.
Yunlie had no strength in his body and could only let Mu Huaner lead him on.
When they reached the bed in the upstairs suite, Mu Huaner gently let go of his hand, and Yunlie’s body, lacking support, directly collapsed onto the bed.
Mu Huaner said anxiously, "How could this be? Your alcohol tolerance is usually so good. Is there some problem with your body?"
Yunlie looked at her; the images of Mu Huaner and Ning Nuan overlapped heavily in front of his eyes, creating a mesmerizing illusion.
"Nuannuan, you take care of Ah Lie for now; I’ll go find a doctor to come and see what’s going on."
"Okay, little aunt, please hurry. I’ll take good care of Brother Ah Lie."
Mu Huaner gave Ning Nuan a meaningful glance, then turned and left, closing the door behind her.
It was done!
Mu Huaner returned downstairs and continued to drink leisurely.
Just wait a little longer, and then she would call Yan Qianyi.
No matter whether Ah Lie would take responsibility for Nuannuan once he sobered up, she had to let Yan Qianyi know about tonight’s events.
Such a significant rift between husband and wife; even if Ah Lie still didn’t accept Nuannuan, his relationship with Yan Qianyi would break because of this.
Their separation was only a matter of time.
She didn’t believe that Yan Qianyi, so proud and arrogant, would tolerate her husband’s infidelity.
Inside the suite, Mu Huaner poured a glass of warm water and sat by the bed.
"Brother Ah Lie, do you want a sip of water? Maybe drinking some water will make you feel better."
Yunlie lay on his side on the bed without speaking, his eyes tightly closed, his brows furrowed.
The feeling inside his body grew stranger, like drunk but not drunk.
It was as if a seed of fire had been buried within him.
This seed quickly took root and sprouted within his body, spreading throughout, his entire body burning hot as if about to ignite.
Yunlie tugged uncomfortably at his collar.
"So hot..."
Ning Nuan placed the water glass on the bedside table.
"Brother Ah Lie, then I’ll help you take off your clothes."
