Chapter 784 - Chapter 784 Chapter 784 Do you know who I just saw

Chapter 784: Chapter 784: Do you know who I just saw? Chapter 784: Chapter 784: Do you know who I just saw? Qiao Yun put away her phone, mumbling to herself in puzzlement, “That’s strange.”

“Professor Qiao.”

While still puzzled, Qiao Yun heard someone calling her and subconsciously turned her head to see Shen Qi and Xu Fang, both dressed sharply in suits.

The Shen and Xu families didn’t actually have much of a relationship with the Lu Family; they were just in the same business circle and had occasionally met a few times.

However, this time the Lu Family had organized a grand promotion feast, inviting practically everyone they could think of. Some invitations had been sent just as a courtesy, without any real expectation of attendance, but it seemed they had underestimated the drawing power of the live attraction that was Qiao Yun.

“Hello.” Qiao Yun nodded to them.

Believing himself to be quite familiar with Professor Qiao, Shen Qi had lost his earlier restraint in her presence and now smiled like a blooming flower, his tone full of admiration as he said, “Professor Qiao, congratulations on becoming top scholar.”

“Thank you.” Qiao Yun politely expressed her thanks.

“I wish I had your brains.” Shen Qi swept an envious gaze over Qiao Yun’s head, his admiration for Professor Qiao having grown even stronger. He wrung his hands in his heart; how could such an awesome person have been taken away by Li Hanzhou?

“That dream of yours could come true with a good night’s sleep,” Xu Fang teased, then said to Qiao Yun, “Professor Qiao, my grandfather asked me to give you a message.”

Qiao Yun lifted her gaze lazily and hummed in acknowledgment.

“My grandfather asked me to tell you, he really didn’t mean any ‘betrayal of master-student relationship’.” Xu Fang wore a somewhat indescribable expression as he delivered the message.

Who knew what his grandfather was thinking, but once he learned that Xu Fang was attending Professor Qiao’s promotion feast, he insisted that this message be relayed.

The grandfather had intended to come himself, but a last-minute issue prevented him from making it.

Qiao Yun was slightly speechless, realizing that the incident had left a strong psychological impact on him. She nodded, “I understand, tell him not to worry, I didn’t take it to heart.”

“Okay.” Xu Fang didn’t know that the issue between them had been caused by the acceptance of a disciple. He thought his grandfather had offended Professor Qiao and was still feeling worried.

Despite Professor Qiao’s harmless appearance, she could be quite intimidating.

Looking around, Shen Qi didn’t see the person he had expected and said with a puzzled expression, “Why isn’t Han Zhou here?”

Qiao Yun’s eyelashes fluttered as she replied indifferently, “I don’t know.”

Shen Qi complained, “Han Zhou is really not doing right by you. Today is your important day; how could he not show up? He is totally not doing his job.”

What kind of boyfriend is that? Better break up early.

Shen Qi was still lamenting over the collapse of his house, unable to accept that his idol and childhood friend were together.

“Han Zhou, he really doesn’t get it.”

“Oh?”

No sooner had Shen Qi finished speaking than a deep and meaningful voice came from behind, chilling and tonal.

Feeling a chill down his spine, Shen Qi stiffened and turned his head to see Li Hanzhou looking at him with a smirk that wasn’t quite a smile. His lips twitched into a stiff smirk: “Hi, Han Zhou, what a coincidence.”

Li Hanzhou raised his eyebrows slightly, the corners of his eyes narrowing with a hooked look, and his voice echoed mysteriously, “The grandfather is incompetent?”

Shen Qi was already feeling guilty: “Ah haha, that…”

Li Hanzhou’s voice dropped an octave, “Doesn’t understand manners?”

“No, no, there’s no one who understands better than you. I was just talking nonsense,” Shen Qi said as he touched his nose, wishing he could bury himself in a hole. Indeed, one should never speak ill of someone behind their back; now, he was caught red-handed by the person in question, and he felt almost tearful.

It was over; Li Hanzhou definitely wouldn’t let him off the hook.

Fortunately, Qiao Yun came to Shen Qi’s rescue. She looked intently at Li Hanzhou and said frankly, “I thought you weren’t coming.”

Li Hanzhou withdrew his gaze from Shen Qi, and when he faced Qiao Yun, the smile in his eyes grew even brighter as he murmured softly, “Got held up by some matters.”

“Oh.” Qiao Yun pursed her lips, her beautiful eyes staring straight at Li Hanzhou without any shyness as she said, “I’m very happy that you could come.”

The corner of Li Hanzhou’s mouth curled up; thanks to what Qiao Yun said, he was in a fairly good mood. He gave Shen Qi a light look, benevolently declaring, “For the little one’s sake, I won’t hold it against you this time.”

Shen Qi was taken aback.

He watched, dumbstruck, as Professor Qiao changed from distant to soft and tender.

It was the first time he experienced the difference in treatment between people.

Why couldn’t he be the one to enjoy Professor Qiao’s special treatment?

However, he once again realized that Professor Qiao and Brother Li were indeed in a serious relationship. He had thought that Brother Li was just an experiment for Professor Qiao, but now it seemed it was more than that.

“You guys talk; we’ll go first.” Xu Fang, very aware of the situation, tried to pull Shen Qi away, leaving space for the couple.

Shen Qi, lacking in emotional intelligence, had no clue that he was being the third wheel and blurted out nonchalantly, “Where to go? We’re free today, aren’t we? It’s rare to see Professor Qiao, so let’s chat more before we leave.”

Li Hanzhou smiled faintly at him.

Shen Qi felt a shiver run through him. Holy shit! Brother Li actually smiled at him. Could it be he didn’t want him to leave?

Xu Fang: “…”

Forget it, there’s always a fool in the group of geniuses to highlight the intelligence quotient.

Remembering something, Shen Qi licked his lips, slightly embarrassed, and asked, “Professor Qiao, may I ask you a question?”

Qiao Yun was patient with Li Hanzhou’s friends, nodding, “Sure.”

Shen Qi humbly sought advice, “Everyone’s guessing whether your teacher, MR.Q, is male or female, so is MR.Q a man or a woman? I’m really curious.”

Qiao Yun didn’t hide it: “Female.”

Shen Qi excitedly continued to ask, “Is she married?”

Li Hanzhou, remembering Shen Qi’s previous words about wanting to pursue MR.Q, now heard him asking this question, and the smile on his face deepened.

Shen Qi felt an increasing chill on his back as if someone was eyeing him. He looked back but didn’t see anyone, and unconsciously touched his head.

Strange, could it be his imagination?

“No,” Qiao Yun answered Shen Qi, then added, “has a lover.”

Shen Qi: “…”

Shen Qi’s face fell: “My house has collapsed again; I’ve got no hope now.”

Xu Fang incredulously remarked, “You really aim high.”

“What if I succeed in being a thief?” Shen Qi patted Xu Fang on the shoulder, whispering, “Brother Li managed to whisk away Professor Qiao; if I try hard, maybe I could become Brother Li’s right-hand man.”

Li Hanzhou, with keen ears, glanced down at Qiao Yun, a hint of teasing in his eyes.

Qiao Yun took a sip of her drink, lifted her head, and met Li Hanzhou’s gaze with an innocent look, “What’s up?”

“Nothing much,” Li Hanzhou stroked Qiao Yun’s head, his eyes brimming with amusement, “just admiring how beautiful you are.”

Qiao Yun frowned slightly and turned her head away, clearly conveying ‘don’t touch my head’.

Even insiders were not allowed to touch her head; Professor Qiao had no desire to stay short.

“By the way, Brother Li, do you know who I saw just now?”
