Chapter 1059: Chapter 1059: Considering Being Together with Pei Yao

The computer screen emitted a soft white glow that reflected in Han Wang’s eyes, devoid of any warmth, making her seem both cold and indifferent.

The silent room was filled only with the rhythmic clacking of the keyboard and endless strings of code flying across the screen.

No one knew how long had passed when one file after another popped up.

Han Wang’s fingers paused over the keyboard.

She squinted slightly, moved the mouse to open the files, her cool gaze sweeping across their contents.

A moment later, she let out a disdainful chuckle.

Just as she’d expected...

Han Wang was about to continue her work when a knock on the door interrupted her. She instinctively frowned, irritation flashing across her eyes at the disruption, before pushing back her chair and walking to the door to open it.

When she saw who was standing outside, her expression froze for a split second before she recovered and nonchalantly asked, "Do you need something?"

Pei Ya cleared his throat, deliberately using a playful tone. "Can’t I look for you if I have nothing to do? Little Wangwang, do you have to be so heartless? Don’t forget I’m still pursuing you. Isn’t it normal for someone chasing their crush to have deep conversations and build feelings?"

"..."

Han Wang couldn’t be bothered to deal with him. Seeing Pei Ya always brought up a chaotic mix of thoughts in her mind that unsettled her completely.

So, she threw out a curt: "I’m busy," and made to shut the door.

Pei Ya reacted quickly, blocking the door before it could close, and hurriedly said, "I’m serious. Don’t you want to talk with me? Maybe share what’s troubling you or something?"

Han Wang’s face remained cold. "No."

Pei Ya: "..."

Really? Not giving him any face at all?

And to think he’d been worried about whether Han Wang had been feeling upset over the comments online.

To Han Wang, Pei Ya’s behavior was downright baffling.

She furrowed her brows and stared at him for a moment. Finally, something seemed to click, and she let out a faint "Hmm." Without hesitation, she called out his motive.

"You think I’d let myself be affected by those idiots slandering me online?"

Pei Ya’s expression stiffened. Since his intentions had been laid bare, he didn’t conceal them further and asked seriously, "So, are you?"

"Why would I be?"

"Isn’t it normal to feel bad when people slander you?"

"You haven’t just met me today. I’ve faced worse slander before. Do you even remember the kind of attitude you had back then?"

Pei Ya certainly remembered.

Whenever someone provoked Han Wang in the past, he’d always enjoy the show, congratulating another poor soul for digging their own grave by messing with the tiger herself, laughing heartily about it.

Recalling this, Pei Ya let out an awkward chuckle. "That was all in the past..."

Han Wang crossed her arms. "Your current worrying is unnecessary."

Pei Ya didn’t agree with her view. Without hesitation, he retorted, "How can it be unnecessary? I didn’t realize I liked you before. Now that I do, even though I know you’re resilient, isn’t caring about someone you like the most normal thing? If I were indifferent, would I even deserve to like you?"

As he spoke, Pei Ya kept his gaze locked on Han Wang, as if his eyes could only hold her and nothing else.

Han Wang fell silent, caught off guard by Pei Ya’s unabashed "I like you."

She couldn’t fathom how he could say it so naturally, without batting an eye.

For a moment, she had no words, so she merely continued staring at him, her gaze tinged with a strange and complex emotion.

Pei Ya furrowed his brows, frustrated as he thought to himself—here we go again, that look...

The look he couldn’t decipher.

Carefully, he asked, "Are you mad?"

He knew Han Wang hated being underestimated.

Han Wang frowned slightly but didn’t respond.

Pei Ya sighed helplessly. "Alright, maybe I worried too much."

What Han Wang couldn’t stand most was seeing Pei Ya with that wounded expression. Her lips moved faintly, and she unconsciously softened her stance: "I’m fine. Those things don’t affect me."

Pei Ya instantly bounced back to normal, his pride inexplicably surging as he declared, "I knew it. You’re not the kind to crumble from this stuff. If anything, you’re the one who crushes others."

Han Wang fell silent again.

She had every reason to suspect that Pei Ya had just been playing up his misery.

And yet... she’d actually softened in response!!!!

Whatever it was that suddenly crossed her mind, Pei Ya tentatively asked, "By the way, when we came back from the tech expo earlier, why were you ignoring me? What did I do wrong?"

He’d been puzzling over that question the entire time, eventually attributing it to the inscrutable nature of women.

At the mention of this, Han Wang’s expression soured again.

She refused to admit she’d been preoccupied with wondering whether she might like Pei Ya—and even seriously considering the possibility of being with him.

Her face turned grim. "I’ve got work to do. You should leave."

With that, she slammed the door in his face with a resounding bang.

????

What was that? Why the sudden mood shift?

...

Meanwhile, Han Wang found herself increasingly unsettled by Pei Ya’s concern, and in the end, she channeled all of her frustration toward Nolan.

She logged onto a social media platform, registered an account with her real name, and, with a few swift clicks, sent out a file...
