Chapter 33: Villain’s Fall

"How do you know my name?" she asked, brows furrowed.

In a blink, a dagger was pressed against my throat.

Ah. Right. I forgot—she’s always in disguise when she leaves the academy.

"It would be nice if you moved that object away from me," I said evenly. The worst thing I could do right now was look intimidated.

"Talk," she snapped, pressing the blade in deeper. "I swear, I’ll kill you if you don’t tell me—now."

I felt it—sharp, cold steel against skin.

Then a sting.

Blood.

Damn it. I still can’t move.

"I’m warning you," I said, voice hardening. "Take. That. Object. Away. From me."

My mana core trembled.

And then—

BAM.

"Fuck—no!" I gasped, eyes flying wide as a searing jolt of pain tore through my spine.

"You don’t get to yell," she said coldly. "I don’t think you understand your situation. You’re crippled."

Crippled.

The word echoed like a bullet inside my skull.

In that instant, the thought I should have had from the moment I woke up, came to my mind.

Why... can’t I feel my limbs?

I tried to look down—but I couldn’t. Couldn’t twitch. Couldn’t move. Couldn’t blink.

I was frozen.

Like a statue.

Like a fucking vegetable.

"Your spine suffered a severe injury," she said. "From this moment forward, you’re incapable of voluntary action."

I stared at her.

Or—I think I did. I couldn’t even be sure anymore.

No blinking. No breath. No movement.

No.

No, no, no—

NOT THIS FUCKING TORMENT AGAIN!

It was just like before.

Back on Earth.

After the accident.

After I got flung like a ragdoll by that damn bus.

The moment true torment began.

"Why are you crying?" she asked suddenly, her brows tightening as she drew the dagger back a little.

But I didn’t respond.

I couldn’t.

The memories clawed at me like barbed wire—flesh and mind ripping with every second.

"Do it," I whispered.

Her eyes narrowed. "Do what?"

"Come on—DO IT! KILL ME! It’s the same damn thing anyway!"

My voice cracked with fury.

With despair.

I should’ve expected this. I always get the wrong side of the coin.

Why does fate keep doing this to me?

I haven’t even started my revenge yet.

I haven’t even begun—

And already, I’m broken.

Crippled.

Useless.

Hah...

Fuck.

Ha... hahaha...

"Are you... crazy?" she muttered, expression souring. "Seriously?"

"If you’re not gonna do it, then don’t stand around acting like you would. Get me someone who can," I whispered. My voice was dead now. Hollow. I already knew how this ends.

Whatever happens in the Mystic World... stays with you when you return to the real one.

And now?

I’m crippled here.

Which means I’ll be crippled there, too.

So what’s the point?

What’s the point of anything?

I’ve lost before the game even started.

Leon...

LEON.

I swear—I will destroy you. Even if it’s the last thing I ever do.

I SWEAR IT!

BAM!

A punch straight to my face.

She grabbed my collar.

BAM!

Another punch.

BAM.

Then another.

BAM!

From that point on, everything blurred.

"You want to die, right? FINE," she screamed. "But don’t think for a second you’ll get some swift, painless death!"

Her fists rained down like a storm—furious, relentless.

"DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT THAT GIRL WENT THROUGH TO SAVE YOUR LIFE?!"

What?

"DO YOU KNOW HOW SHE BEGGED ME TO USE MY ABILITY TO PULL YOU BACK FROM DEATH?!"

My vision swam with blood. Her voice echoed inside my skull.

"DO YOU THINK I KISS JUST ANYONE?! IT WAS TO USE MY FUCKING ABILITY, YOU IDIOT!"

And still—she punched.

"And now here you are, acting like some pathetic, suicidal piece of shit, without even knowing the first thing about how you ended up like this!"

Just as I remembered her.

Fucking insane.

But...

I didn’t fight back.

Didn’t speak.

Didn’t scream.

I just lay there.

Receiving every mana-charged blow like it was the only thing keeping me conscious.

Slowly but surely, I drifted toward oblivion.

...So she wasn’t the girl who saved me.

Whatever.

Maybe I’ll reincarnate again if I die now.

Maybe.

God—it hurts like hell.

I tried to comfort myself with the only thought left: dragging down the bastard responsible for this.

My tormentor.

I should’ve known from the start.

I can’t even beat Jason... much less a goddess.

Fool.

I’m such a fucking fool.

I let myself believe—again.

Let myself hope.

And just as the last pieces of me started to fade—

"NO! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"

A voice cut through the chaos.

Familiar.

That girl...

Her.

"STOP!" was the last thing I heard.

Then—darkness.

Total, swallowing darkness.

How ironic.

The ones who realize they’re slaves to fate... are the ones who die still bound by its chains.

I’m one of them.

A fool who chased light at the end of a tunnel that never had any.

And once again, I’ve been slammed back into my place by the same hands that forged my suffering.

Just one wish...

Take me back.

To the betrayal.

To when they gave me hope, only to crush it.

To when they stabbed the last of the human out of me.

Take me back.

So I can ask the question that’s been burning in my soul since the moment this hell began:

Why me?

...

"What did you do?!"

A young girl with platinum-blonde hair dipped in blue and stormy grey eyes sprinted forward, dropping to her knees.

"I... I thought he’d come to his senses," Natasha whispered, staring at her own trembling hands. Her fingers were slick with red. "I thought he’d beg for his life, I didn’t think—I didn’t think it would go that far..."

Her breath hitched. Her lips parted but no more words came. Just the realization.

He wasn’t moving.

Maybe he was dead.

Probably.

"No... No... NOOO!"

The girl screamed, pulling the motionless body of the young man against her. Her arms wrapped around him protectively.

"Calm down," Natasha said. "He’s not... He’s not dead. Not yet. Besides, why do you even care so much about him? He’s such an ungrateful little—"

Her hand gently reached for the girl’s shoulder.

SLAP.

The slap echoed.

Natasha recoiled, eyes wide in disbelief.

The girl stood, and when she turned to face her, it was like staring into a storm. Her grey eyes burned with fury and betrayal, tears still streaking down her cheeks, but now something else was there—something darker.

"Get. OUT."
