Chapter 96: Paying them back (2)

"Is everyone in place?" I asked Mia who had a pair of binoculars in her hand.

Mia didn’t answer right away, but she then said with a nod, "They’re all ready. They’re just waiting for your signal."

At that, I said with a nod, "Then send them in."

Mia didn’t say anything in response as she just raised her hand to give a signal to the ones that were waiting.

Once they saw this signal, they started approaching the village.

The plan that I had come up with was for them to approach the village from three different directions since there were three main entrances to the village.

This was a plan for revenge, so naturally we wouldn’t give them a chance to escape.

Once they came close, I narrowed my eyes as I watched them approach the guards that were at the entrances.

If I hadn’t been watching closely, then I would have missed it.

The guards had been talking with each one moment before suddenly crumpling down on the ground. It was as if there was something that took the winds out of their sails with the way that they suddenly fell like this.

That was just a testament of how well these assassins had been trained by Mia.

After the guards had been taken care of, it was all about the people that were inside of the village.

The rest of the people inside of the village had been celebrating their successful raid on the town, so they didn’t know that the guards had been taken out. In fact, most of them were already drunk because they didn’t hold back in celebrating at all.

But it made sense since they didn’t expect anyone to attack them all of a sudden like this.

Since most of them were drunk, it didn’t take long for the guards that infiltrated the village to take them down.

It was just that these guards weren’t as good at sneaking as the assassins were.

"Intruders! There are intruders!"

As soon as this was shouted out, the group that had been celebrating at the center of the village suddenly stopped their celebration.

They all looked shocked and confused about this, but they still relied on their instincts to pull out their weapons to see what was happening. The problem was that many of them were drunk because of their celebrations.

With the alcohol inhibiting them, it really wasn’t easy for them to wield their weapons.

As such, there were many that were stumbling around while looking for the enemies.

These people were naturally no match for the guards that were completely focused on defeating the enemy. The only thing that they could do was fall under the weapons of the guards that infiltrated the village.

"These people? They’re the guards from the town that we raided this afternoon?"

"You mean they’re here for a counter raid?"

"Ha, ha, ha, they can only do something as sneaky as this! They were no match for us this afternoon and they’ll be no match for us now!"

The leaders of the village recognized the guards that were attacking them and they were immediately filled with confidence. They thought that since they had already defeated them once, it would be easy for them to defeat them a second time.

But they quickly found that they were wrong.

It wasn’t just that they were weaker than this afternoon because they were drunk, it was that the guards were fighting much more fiercely than in the afternoon.

Two of the squads were led by Iris and Chris respectively.

The two of them didn’t hesitate at all as they charged into the camp and started taking down all of the enemies in front of them. With the way that they charged, it seemed like they were a speeding bullet that couldn’t be stopped.

They were nothing like they were in the afternoon.

It was all because there were two things that were different.

One was the fact that they had confidence in themselves because they knew that their leader had confidence in them.

The second was the fact that they no longer had to handicap themselves by protecting others.

When they had been raided in the afternoon, they had to actually protect the people of the town from the raiders as well. So it wasn’t just the fact that they didn’t have experience that slowed them down.

Now that they didn’t have anyone to protect, they actually put themselves in much more dangerous situations.

But what they had learned was more than enough to save them.

"What are these two monsters? What kind of technique is this?"

That was all the raiders of the village could say as they were cut down by Iris’ sword and Chris’ spear.

The other team was led by another one of the talented guards named Pine, but he definitely wasn’t as skilled as the other two. Still, it was more than enough to lead his group into the village and cut down these people.

"What is going on here?" The leaders of the raiders panicked when they saw their numbers being cut down like this.

Eventually, they decided that it would be best if they just cut their losses.

"How do you know about this place?"

Only when they tried to escape, they found that there were people that were already waiting for them. Before they could even do anything, they were completely surrounded and captured.

That was because there was a fourth group that had been sent to guard the secret passage out of the village.

Mia’s team really were so skilled that they found this secret passage when they searched the village surroundings.

They didn’t leave out a single thing that could be used by the raiders of the village.

In just a few minutes, the village had been completely subdued by the guards.

When it was all over, they couldn’t believe that they had taken down the village so quickly.

But that just went to show how confidence could change them.

Well, that and the fact that they had been trained by someone very skilled.
