Chapter 80: Sacred Shell (5)

Chapter 80: Sacred Shell (5)

At the end of the corridor for the second trial, there was a set of doors for the third trial.

This time, I didn’t hesitate to push the door open and walk through.

After all, I had no need to fear this third trial.

The moment that I walked through, I saw the corridor that was filled with statues on both sides.

This was the third trial.

Others might have no idea what these statues were for, but I knew before even walking in what these statues were. And since I knew what they were, I didn’t fear anything as I started walking forward.

I walked down the hall at a steady pace, but there wasn’t a single thing that happened.

Or at least no one would be able to see what was happening.

That was because the trial included something that couldn’t be seen with the naked eye.

There was this energy that was actually coming out of the statues that only the one that was walking through the corridor would be able to feel. Once this energy fell onto the one that was in between the statues, it would cause them to feel nauseous.

What this trial was was a test of determination and willpower.

All the person taking the trial had to do was walk to the end of the trial while being bombarded by the interference that was coming from the statues.

If the person that was walking through the corridor fell even once, then it would be considered a failure.

After all this was a test of willpower and determination, so one really couldn’t fall even once when it came to this trial.

But even though I was being hit by the things all around me, I wasn’t actually feeling a single thing from these attacks. In fact, it was almost like I was going on a simple stroll with the way that I walked through the corridor.

That was all because the energy wasn’t actually doing anything to me.

It wasn’t that I wasn’t being hit with the energy, it was all because I was resisting the effects that it had on me.

The stats that I had from the Shared Stats Skill allowed me to easily shrug off illusion magic of this degree.

Normally, the way to do this was to use special equipment that allowed for mental resistance. However there was no need for this when one’s stats were high enough, namely their wisdom stat.

With the increase from Faust and Val Zahar, there really was no lack of wisdom that I was able to just ignore all of these spells.

But there was a part of me that I was getting help from Val Zahar for this.

As for the pace that I was taking, it was simply because it would become harder if I were to go faster.

In this trial, there was a countermeasure that was set up against cheaters.

That meant that as long as the criteria was met, there would be something unleashed against the one taking the trial. As for what the specific criteria was, it was related to the speed that one was moving at.

After all, it was designed in a way that the one taking the trial would be moving slower than usual to resist the illusion spells that the statues resisted.

However, the one that had designed this was arrogant to the point where they didn’t think that anyone would be able to fully resist the illusion spells like I was currently doing. That was why they made it so that if anyone moved faster than a certain speed, they would be punished.

It was a matter of pride for them.

Only they had completely looked down on the players who would do anything to break games.

There were players that had calculated the exact values that were necessary to fully resist the illusion spells.

That was why even though I was trying to set a new world record, I couldn’t move faster than this.

This normal speed was the fastest that I could go without actually triggering the punishment.

So that was why I was moving at this speed.

"I could fight that thing and get some extra items..."

There was a part of me that was tempted to do that, but I chose not to do it in the end.

After all, the fight wasn’t an easy one and it would no doubt draw a lot of attention since it was a loud fight. If I drew attention to this, then it certainly wouldn’t be easy to explain what happened.

For now, the most important thing was getting the second hero’s relic.

I might come back later to fight the guardian that would be released on the ones that broke the rules of the trial.

It was a very tempting fight since there was a special item that was dropped by the guardian. It was a unique time, which meant that this was actually the only place that I would even be able to get this special item.

As such, it was a very tempting thing.

In the end, I made my way through the corridor as fast as I could possibly move.

And that was the end of it.

"That’s definitely a world record...if I could upload this to the internet." I couldn’t help saying this to myself as I saw the time that it took for me to clear this third trial.

Then I couldn’t help asking, "System, is there some way for me to upload this?"

But of course there was no response from the system regarding this.

Other than a few required messages, the system really didn’t say anything to me.

So this was just my way of having fun with the system.

Since the third trial was over, it meant that I had passed the entire trial for the second hero’s relic.

Now it was just about claiming my prize and that prize was currently waiting behind the double doors in front of me.
