Chapter 107: Field trip (2)
"Are you tired? Do you need to rest?"
The one that I was talking to seemed to jolt when she heard my voice and looked at me like I was some kind of predator that was about to eat her.
She shook her head quickly before running over to where Rania was.
A bitter smile appeared on my face when I saw Fae acting like this, but there was nothing that I could do.
Nimue and Rania had left a deep impression on Fae after saving her on her first day, so she was much closer to the two of them than she was with me. But I knew that it wasn’t as simple as that.
There was another reason why she was that hesitant to approach me.
It seemed that Nimue and Rania had a talk with Fae, which was why she was that hesitant to approach me.
While I didn’t think that this was good for our composition as a team, that didn’t matter right now since we were currently in the middle of a forest. It was just that this wasn’t any normal forest.
This was the forest that was the destination of the field trip.
It was better to say that this was a sacred forest, or at least it was to the elves.
This forest was one of the special places that contained the inheritance from one of the ancestor high elves.
It could even be called a grave for this ancestor, but it was being used as a training location for the younger generation of elves.
That was because that was what the ancestor had wanted.
They wanted prosperity for the future generation of the elves, which was why this place had been created in the first place.
As for how exactly it made elves stronger...
"There are a few monsters to the north. Are you ready?"
Nimue’s voice came from above us.
She had climbed one of the trees nearby to scout out the area.
After she said this, there wasn’t much time before we heard the rustling from in front of us.
Then all of a sudden, there were these strange creatures that came out of the bushes in front of us. These creatures seemed like animals, but they also seemed like they were a bit translucent.
It was almost as if they were made of some kind of material that wasn’t actually there.
That was because they were.
Rania was the one that went forward first as she put her hand down on the ground.
When she did, there were tendrils of water that came out of the ground that suddenly reached out to grab the monsters that were coming at us. Even if they tried to dodge out of the way, they just couldn’t move out of the way of the tendrils in time and were caught by them.
The tendrils lifted these monsters into the air and then slammed them together, but it didn’t seem like that was enough to take them out.
They were finished off with a single arrow into their heads before dropping down to the ground after Rania released them.
I could see that she was looking at me with an amazed look, but I just focused on the monsters after they dropped onto the ground.
That was because after they fell to the ground, they suddenly started to break apart.
In no time at all, they turned into scraps of green energy.
I went over and picked up those scraps before handing them out evenly between our group.
Fae looked like she didn’t want to take it, but Rania took it out of my hand and placed it into hers before saying, "This is what you deserve for being a part of our group."
It was only after she said this that Fae took the shard.
At the same time, she looked at Rania with gratitude and what seemed to be a bit more than gratitude.
Instead of trying to figure out what that was, I focused on the green shard that was in my hand.
This green shard from the monster was something special, something that could only be obtained in this place.
The monsters that had attacked us earlier weren’t actually monsters that naturally occurred in this world. Rather, those were monsters that could only exist in this place since they were only created in this place.
In fact, it wasn’t actually appropriate to call them monsters.
It was better to call them golems that were created with energy from spirits.
That was the legacy that the ancestor high elf had left for the future generation.
The elves were a race that were close to spirits and relied on spirit power to become stronger. That was why this place was created as a way for the elves to increase their own spirit power.
And that all depended on these shards that were created from spirit power.
After looking at this green shard for a bit, I suddenly crushed it in my hand.
The moment that I crushed the green shard, there was this flow of energy that was released. This flow of energy quickly entered my hand and was absorbed by my body.
Once it was absorbed, I could feel it integrating into me.
This energy that had been released by the green shard was pure spirit energy and by absorbing it, my connection with the spirits became better. At the same time, this pure spirit energy was a good thing that helped nurture my mana pool.
I could tell that just from this one single shard, my mana pool had increased by a decent amount.
Or at least this avatar’s mana pool if it wasn’t linked to the overall mana pool of the other avatars.
Once I was done absorbing the green shard, I looked up to find that the others were also done and had been waiting for me.
"Let’s go and collect more of these shards. I want to see how strong we can get before this field trip is over."
