Chapter 78: Prepare

Chapter Seventy-Eight – Prepare

She looked beautiful, she knew. Still Laurel felt scared, scared that she’d walk out and Sorren would look even better then her confidence would be muddled.

"Why the hell was it a man that’s making me so envious?" She said with gritted teeth.

She looked down at herself again. The dress was made for goddesses, not deprived princesses like her. Sorren might think a little too highly of her.

She looked at the green dress on the bed. Would it be better on her? She wasn’t the same size she used to be. The pink dress fit better.

"Such a dilemma. When I had maids, I didn’t even care what I wore as long as it were clothes." She ran her hands through her hair, straightening them out more.

Her finger hit on a hairpins and she adjusted them to make them more prominent. There was one on each side. Green and pink, to compliment her hair and eyes. The only things making her beautiful.

There was a knock on the door that made Laurel jumped. "I’d be out soon." She replied.

Stefan sighed, walking back to the couch. It was just his luck to have two people who cared about their looks so much to accompany him to a meeting.

"Sorren, you too. Please hurry—" Stefan opened the door.

He wouldn’t have guessed there was a huge mirror in the room. Because his room didn’t have one.

"You look like a bride." He said. "Why are you like this?"

Sorren looked at his brother’s reflection in the mirror. "Why am I like this?" he huffed. "I don’t even know."

Stefan leaned on the door. "You made Laurel change, right? It seems you really want us to be late."

Sorren flung the transparent veil off his head. "I’d leave this one then."

Stefan frowned on being ignored. To him, he should leave everything and wear a formal suit. His attire was sensual and nothing formal.

The golden leather suit, which was like the upper side of a yukata, was open at the chest, all the way to the waist and golden necklace further attracted eyes to his bare chest.

Was he trying to seduce any one in particular? Still, the way he pulled it off screamed of royalty and not seduction. And his wavy hair falling at his back made him look like a female model. The older brother grunted, tiredly.

Sorren flung his hair back. "On second thoughts—"

"No, no second thoughts. Wear what’s on you and let’s go!" Stefan retorted.

Sorren smirked. "If you want me to wear it then." He left his seat. Stefan nodded on seeing the full attire. The lower part were trousers that looked masculine, thankfully.

"Ah, I almost forgot." Sorren grabbed a skirt-like garment wrapping it on his waist. "Done."

Stefan sighed. "Sorren, you are trying to annoy me, right? Sorren left the door. "What ever do you mean... oh no."

Stefan turned to what Sorren was looking at.

Laurel stood before them, looking down.

Her dress was a pink flare gown that fit her perfectly, like if it had been tailor-made for her. Her long dark hair laid on her exposed shoulders.

Though her head was down, there was a glimmer in them made to stand out by the jewelry on her hair. Kai thought their mate looked liked a dream but Stefan pulled a blank.

"How did she look that... shocking?" he glanced at Sorren who had a scowl, shaking his head.

"It’s too much, right?" Sorren pointed at Laurel. "Don’t worry, I think I brought something else."

He tried to leave but Stefan held him back. Was he trying to make her change again? How long would that take? And she looked perfect already!

"Laurel, raise your head high. It looks good on you." Stefan said firmly. He would’ve said more but he pulled a blank again.

Laurel, whose head had been down, looked at him. "R-Really? I mean... well, thank you." If her mate thought so, despite how much he hated her, then it wasn’t bad.

She avoided looking at Sorren as he walked to her. She’d lose the warmth she felt when she’d see him.

"In case it gets cold. I didn’t know it was without arms."

She held the shawl he wrapped around her but kept her head down till he walked outside.

"Tch. How do you live with him? Didn’t he make you feel insecure all the time?" it left her lips but she still expected Stefan to reply. She needed to know the secret.

Stefan smiled. "Well, his mother was pretty much like this. Funny enough it was my mother that taught her all about jewelry and dresses. I’m used to it, I think. We should go."

The carriage was at the front and a Lycan Laurel had never seen sat atop it. Sorren was inside, she saw him.

She chuckled. "Do you know if Sorren is trying to gain the queen’s favor? He’s definitely out to seduce someone." And that was a contrast to his usual innocent style.

Stefan watched her laugh, he smiled. She had never joke about anything with him before. "This Kingdom has no queen. She was killed by werewolves years ago—"

Why was he saying something depressing after she made a joke? He looked at her from the corner of his eyes and she had a flat expression.

"Ah, is that so?" she said coldly then climbed the carriage.

"Way to go, Stefan." Kai scolded.

Stefan nodded, accepting his mistake. Jade was surely the easiest lady to impress. And for his mate, he wished he’d stop trying to impress her.

However the closer she was to him, the more his resolve crumbled and Kai imposed ideas to him. Ideas that a part of him wanted to manifest.

He noticed Sorren’s gaze on him. Stefan climbed the carriage wearing a frown. His younger brother wasn’t helping his resolve also.

The carriage slowly moved towards the palace. Laurel looked outside as they moved. Finally, the meeting was happening.

She didn’t wear the charm yet but she took it with her till she’d need it. She’d keep her ears peeled for any information that could help them.

"Bloody Moon Pack?"

Laurel turned when she heard Sorren ask.

"Yeah, that’s the other new pack that joined the Lycan Kingdom. I hear they’ve three Alphas but one officially. I don’t know what that’s about." Stefan replied.

Bloody Moon Pack sounded familiar to Laurel. And it came with a sense of safety to her. It also linked to her mother.

She looked forward to meeting these Alphas.
