Chapter 226: Something Happened

Chapter Two Hundred-Twenty-Six – Something Happened

Zeldris could see, and that would be everyone’s problem.

Laurel flung her hair back and patted her clothes to straighten it.

She couldn’t wait till that knight of hers gets over being able to see colors. It was as if it was his vocal cord that got healed, not his eyes.

She linked him in mind link. "Zeldris, stop whatever you’re doing and meet me at the hall. And now, please."

"I’m taking a bath. Should I come as I am—"

She disconnected the link and rubbed her temples. She should inflict something of a permanent wound on that mouth of his.

She connected to Valkyrie. "Have you really gotten the permit to visit High Mountains? I didn’t think the Prince Sorren will give you so fast."

There was no reply even if she was sure that she connected. "Valkyrie? Are you feeling okay?"

"I’m sorry but it seems Prince Sorren didn’t give us the permission to visit High Mountains." Valkyrie replied in a low tone. "I’m sorry for raising your hopes high."

Laurel stopped walking, then lightly tapped her heeled shoe on the marble floor. "He didn’t permit, huh? Okay, it’s fine. Thank you for the feedback."

She disconnected. Sorren always played games when it came to her so she wasn’t very surprised. She asked for a notice to be sent to High Mountains before going.

And she’s glad she did. The guards would’ve embarrassed her if she was without a notice.

The only reason she wanted to go there was to search for Zeldris’s female cousin who had magic and was in disguise as a Lycan. They should save her quickly.

"Princess!" it was Zeldris.

Laurel quickly turned back to return to her room and change. She wore a formal gown and heeled shoes only because she was going to a different pack.

"The shoes are even itchy." She mumbled as she hurried to her room. Little Marino and Mira stared at her as she quickly threw the heels away like they were evil.

Laurel fell on her bed after changing into a lighter gown. She’d be staying indoors all through today. Maybe even get to sleep for eight hours for a change.

"Princess! Can I come in?"

She sprang up from her bed. Why did she forget that she asked him to come? She rubbed her head, getting off the bed.

Little Marino jumped down the bed faster and ran to the door. He frowned as he opened the door. "Zeldis, Princess is trying to sleep! You sleep too!"

Laurel smiled. He’d been talking a lot more since she took him out to see the tree. And he’d also been worried about her health, which she specially liked.

"Huh? Why is a young man like you staying with the— Oh, you’re a kid, right?"

Laurel quickly opened the door, glaring at Zeldris. He shouldn’t extend his crazy thoughts to Marino.

Zeldris bowed to the little boy. "I’m sorry, Young Master Marino." He looked up. "So are we going to the—"

"No, that Princess didn’t let us." Laurel grabbed a coat and wore over the gown. She didn’t feel like changing to anything more appropriate.

"There’s another Princess here?"

Laurel sighed, walking out of the room. "Forget it. I’d use Sigma. Sigma is a big mouth but he is also easy to use."

Zeldris nodded even if he didn’t know, or care to know, who that was. "Did he say why he refused you?"

Laurel shrugged. Sorren might’ve done it to annoy her, or because he was busy farming and couldn’t host her. She didn’t add the reason why she wanted to come.

"He didn’t say, but it’s either a really good reason or a totally useless reason." She sighed. "It’s been a while I paid the brawn for brains Delta a visit so yeah."

Zeldris looked her over. She wasn’t wearing formal clothes to see this Delta, not that what she wore was bad. It was totally perfect on her, they always were.

He didn’t point it out as they left. The pack belonged to her after all, the Delta was a visitor.

On reaching the Delta’s quarters, the guards moved aside without questioning. It surprised Zeldris. What surprised Laurel was the fact Sigma had guards?

What would come after that one?

"Sigma!" she knocked on the door. "It’s Laurel. Can I talk to you for a min—"

Dylan opened the door, being a bit pale faced. "P-Princess? Oh." He looked down. "Sigma, he’s a little down in the weather... today."

Laurel peeked in but could only perceive the nauseating smell of drugs, burnt meat and body liquids.

Was someone bleeding?

"Nothing happened to you, right? The guard said you’ve been going out for a stroll a lot recently." Dylan asked, his tone filled with worry.

Laurel narrowed her eyes at him. Was something happening to them? She could have a rough guess but she didn’t want to be so sure as to not cause trouble.

"I go on strolls, and with my knight, I don’t think anything’s gonna happen." She nudged Zeldris a bit.

Zeldris studied the lycan warrior’s face. Something had happened. The smell of blood was all over the room. And then something else that Zeldris wasn’t sure of.

"O-Okay then." Dylan forced a smile. "Sigma is tired and I have to take care of him— his work! I have to take care of his work. Sorry." Dylan rubbed his face.

Laurel could tell he felt distraught. Something disturbing had happened. Something unimaginable perhaps.

He tried closing the door but Laurel placed her leg to block it. "I’m coming in." She walked into the room. "Sigma? What happened—"

Zeldris pulled her back as she nearly stepped on something, someone. Laurel’s eyes went down, they widened and became bloodshot immediately.

"W-Wh-Why...."

What could have done this to him? There were hurried wraps of bandage around his head and blood still stained the white bandage heavily.

His body looked like it escaped an incineration. And his left wrist...was lying few meters away from his body.

Laurel’s knees weakened, and she fell by his side.

"S-Sigma...?"
