Chapter 845: 835. Affordable Package [Lots of Barrages]

The basic "set meal" for 288 is actually quite reasonable from Boss Chang — there has to be some dishes that allow customers with low spending habits to bite the bullet!

For instance, this serving right in front of Little Picky Eater.

The U-shaped face has a large diameter white porcelain bowl, filled with the signature red broth of amaranth, soaking the pearly white rice grains into a rosy pink hue.

The cooked amaranth leaves are dark green with deep red veins, neatly bunched up on top of the rice, looking quite substantial. A few careful decorations of soybeans are placed beside it. Speaking of looks, it’s somewhat dismal.

But... it’s valued at 288!

Then the comments started rolling in:

[Don’t say, it’s quite rustic, really fits the vibe of a rural courtyard]

[True! Rough yet gentle, matches well with the straw-woven grasshoppers in this behind-the-scenes cage!]

[Honestly, my home’s leftover vegetable and rice mix has more ingredients — but this is 288!]

[Exactly! The art of aesthetics at 288, what do I know, right? Must be good!]

[Picky Eater, go for it!]

[Picky Eater, eat well and show them!]

Little Picky Eater holding the spoon: ...

"How do I feel that your comments aren’t directing me? It seems like you’re commanding the Dahuang dog at home."

He slightly regretted, "After finishing this meal, I need to catch a flight. Just this? Had I known I wouldn’t listen to you guys and indulged in ordering two or three dishes, right?"

This rice bowl looks so monotonous!

This restaurant even begrudges putting an extra egg in it! Absolutely ridiculous!

"Does the guest find it too plain?" The enthusiastic waiter asked.

Seeing Little Picky Eater look up blankly, the waiter quickly passed over a tablet: "Actually, we have another limited dish prepared for this rice bowl — this one, mashed garlic salted duck egg."

"This is only available in 88 portions daily, you’re lucky, it just became available today!"

Little Picky Eater: ...

"It’s all tricks! Complete tricks!" He fiercely ranted to the livestream:

"Nowadays, businesses really play tricks with limited quantities or ’just released today’ just to make people spend money. Just like this rice bowl they specifically pair it with this what, mashed garlic salted duck egg, how’s that? And it’s sold separately... costing 188, has the boss gone mad for money?"

The waiter, wearing a mask, didn’t change his expression upon hearing the rant and just reached out to take back the tablet:

"So does the guest not require it?"

"Who said that!" The tablet was snatched by Little Picky Eater, swiftly clicked and ordered: "I’m not poor!"

However, at the moment of placing the order, the remaining quantity on the page dropped from 80 to 34...

In less than two minutes, come on! It’s not even half past ten!

The livestream chat began to laugh:

[Talk big, place orders fast.]

[Little Picky Eater, I misunderstood you over the years, I thought you were picky-mouthed, didn’t realize you were quick to spend]

[What’s with this garlic salted duck egg for 188, does it have gold flakes?]

[I know this one, basic amaranth red broth rice bowl for 288, luxury version 288+188...]

[Just business tricks]

The expensive garlic mashed salted duck egg hadn’t even arrived, and Little Picky Eater continued jesting with the audience, now curious, he asked: "Why is this garlic mashed salted duck egg so expensive?"

The waiter’s eyes full of longing: "I don’t know either... but the garlic has a daily limit, and the salted duck eggs too, limited to 88 a day and might not even last long!"

That’s actually true, especially since after the temperature drops, chickens and ducks barely lay eggs anymore. Boss Chang, although he has a stockpile of 4000 and still increasing, always needs to plan ahead.

Little Picky Eater: ...This waiter is quite honest.

He continued to ask: "You work at this restaurant, so what’s the most valuable and hardest thing to buy here? There must be something you recommend, right?"

"About that..." the waiter honestly replied, "The boss says there’s no need for recommendations; every day we run out of dishes—sorry, sir, I’m from another restaurant and jumped ship, still haven’t shaken off the habit of making recommendations."

The live comments burst into laughter:

[Overly honest]

[Is that for real? Which business doesn’t make recommendations?]

[There must be! Probably the best-selling items that are hardest to purchase aren’t even brought out!]

[Exactly! Different levels of consumption, different things to access, right?]

[Picky Eater, ask!]

[I can’t afford it, but can’t I still listen?]

Little Picky Eater glanced at the comments and persisted: "It’s okay, it’s okay, I just like getting recommendations. So, there really isn’t anything exclusive I’m unable to access?"

The waiter thought for a bit: "Well, there is."

"The boss didn’t say we couldn’t recommend, but thought it unnecessary since it’s impossible to buy anyway—it’s the rare teas up in the tea house."

"It’s said that bids reached up to 300,000, and to this day only five people have bought—out of stock! Now the tea house only invites some longtime tea customers each week for a tasting."

Little Picky Eater surprised: "Tea?"

The waiter nodded: This was what her good sisters told her, many waiters heard about it too. But aside from the invited tea patrons, new tea customers wanting to try must first bring their own premium tea for everyone to taste together.

Only then do further developments ensue.

Once she mentioned this, there was a shared astonishment among the waiters.

And Boss Chang quietly, not only constantly expanding his social circle but even these vague rumors are slowly spread out through the ambiguous talks of the waiters...

He didn’t make much from this round of tea money, but the ultimate winner is clearly him.

As for how much of a winner... one only needs to see the distraught look on the face of the boss from Youran Ecology across the street.

But Little Picky Eater hadn’t thought so much at the moment, he didn’t know much about teas but got by with a morning cup of black coffee after gaining weight and could rattle off the basics.

Right now, he just couldn’t understand: "What kind of tea goes for 300,000 per catty?" And still out of stock and not for sale? Isn’t the point of business to make money?

As he mulled it over, the garlic mashed salted duck eggs were served.

It came in the same small white porcelain bowl, with finely chopped white garlic mingles and tender egg whites combined with a unique spicy flavor, almost overwhelming the senses.

The yolky part of the egg, now engulfed in an oily sheen, revealed a dense granular state paired with a rich salty fragrance, uniformly mixed with the garlic...

It was a simple countryside dish, but when Little Picky Eater carefully picked up a small amount with his chopsticks and placed it in his mouth, the creamy rich yolk texture blended with the particles of garlic, and with one chew, felt like his soul was shooting up.

So, so stimulating! So unique, so delicious!!!

With this dish, Little Picky Eater shoveled the amaranth red soup rice into his mouth, and then suddenly it dawned on him—

Hold on! The restaurant was covering up, claiming those ingredients weren’t for internal use! Even some viewers were pretending along saying the dishes weren’t for internal use...

Pshaw!

It clearly was!
