Chapter 124: Will You Just Shut Up and Let Me Tell You I’m Pregnant!

Charlie knew that Zach meant business and decided to head straight to the office of construction to talk to Deeke. Charlie walked in the office and walked right up to Deeke’s desk.

"We need to talk and you need to listen to me. I’ve been putting this off for a while but I can’t do it no more."

The tone of Charlie’s voice got Deeke’s attention. "Babe, I’m sorry about last night. I left my shoes right out for you to trip over them and I’m always leaving my clothes on the floor. I’m sorry, I know that bugs the shit out of you but I’m going to do better. Maybe when we get a place of our own where we’re not stressed at all, we can work a few kinks out in our relationship."

"No Deeke, that ain’t got nothing to do with it. I need to talk and you need to listen. I got a few things I want to say."

"Charlie, whatever it is I apologize. Believe me, I don’t want to lose you, I don’t want us to break up. I know things have been a little stressed with you lately and I don’t know why, but please don’t make any rash decisions. Let’s just sit down and talk about what’s wrong between the two of us."

"Dammit Deeke Reynolds, will you please shut the fuck up and let me talk! I swear you’re worse than any Genman I ever have known when it comes to butting in and won’t let someone else talk. You have to jump in and apologize for everything that everybody else does, but this time dammit, I did something wrong. It’s on me, not you. You’re not the bad one in the relationship—I am."

Deeke sat down and took a look at Charlie. "Go ahead babe, whatever you got to say I’ll keep my mouth shut and I will listen to you, then we can talk."

"I’ve been hiding something from you. I’ve been scared ever since I found out myself, that you’re going to leave me. I know we have been working through a few things here in our relationship and I wish we had more time, but sometimes time’s not on your side."

"Charlie, do you want to break up or something? Is that where this is going? Because if it is, I don’t want to hear it. I don’t want to lose you or what we’ve got."

"Dammit Deeke Reynolds, I’m fucking pregnant!" Charlie burst out. "There, that’s what I’ve been trying to tell you all along, but no, you won’t shut the hell up and let anybody else talk but you."

Deeke took a very deep breath. "You said that you’re pregnant. Are you positive this is not a fake or a false positive test? You’re actually pregnant? We’re going to have a child together?"

"Yes, Deeke, I’m pregnant and I didn’t know how to tell you. I’m so sorry. I thought of a thousand ways but they all end up with you walking away, just like everyone else has in my life."

Deeke stood up and wrapped his arms around the crying Charlie. "When will you get it through that fat stubborn Genman head of yours? I’m not everybody else, I’m Deeke Reynolds and I love you Charlie more than anything else in this world. I will be here for you and our child from now on. You don’t have to worry about me running away—you just have to worry about trying to get rid of me when you’re tired of me, because I’m not going anywhere. As they say, for better or for worse, you’re stuck with me. So, what are you, a couple of weeks maybe at the most?"

Charlie looked at the ground and mumbled, "Try two months along. I was terrified to tell you because it happened so fast. I know you were worried about it not happening and maybe there was something with you and you couldn’t have children. But you got me right out of the gate, probably the first night. I did not know how to tell you because maybe you would think I was trying to trap you."

Deeke kissed Charlie. "Baby, you can trap me with all the kids you want, because we’re going to fill that new house up when it’s built."

"Let’s go out to the warehouse and tell everybody, what do you say Charlie? Let them know that you’re officially off the market. The playground is still open for me, but that factory has a construction job going on right now, and it’s building our child."

Deeke and Charlie went out to the warehouse and as Charlie stood in front of him, Deeke wrapped his arms around and placed his hands squarely on top of Charlie’s stomach which was already bulging a little. José looked over and saw it.

"Hot damn, Charlie’s knocked up already! Looks like Deeke finally got it right."

Charlie laughed. "He’s had it right for a while, I just finally told him. In seven months we’re going to welcome an addition to the Reynolds family and I can tell all of you assholes, I’m off the market permanently. Deeke Reynolds is the only one that is getting anywhere near me and he has my permission to knock me up as often as he wants to because we’re going to fill that house up with children. Good time Charlie is gone forever, Charlie Reynolds is taking his place and I will be standing beside my husband and our children 100% of the time."

Deeke looked at Charlie. "You realize that you just said Charlie Reynolds instead of Deeke and Charlie Reynolds—we’re now officially a couple."

"Yes, I do realize exactly what I said, and it’s nice to have a last name and that last name to belong to my husband and spouse. Our children will have last names, they won’t just have first names like most Genmen and hybrids. They will know that they are someone and they belong in society. No one will be able to look down on our children and call them anything but honorable."

Deeke’s day was made—there would definitely be some celebrating at the cottage tonight with everyone.

Martin was sitting at his desk when the first twinge made itself known. He pushed the button on his phone and called Rosie.

"Rosie, can you locate Hanz for me? He needs to get here pretty quick."

Rosie stood up from her receptionist desk and walked back to where Martin was sitting. He shook his head yes. She hollered out to the stations. "Everybody, it’s D-day! Locate Hanz at all cost—if he’s in the building, get his ass up here!" The next phone call she made was to Tony Corday to tell him that Martin had started labor at the office and would need to go to the med center.

Within three minutes the elevator dinged and Hanz stepped off the elevator, headed directly to Martin’s desk area. When he arrived, Martin assured him that everything was okay but they needed to get to the med center quickly. Everyone was hooting, hollering and cheering when they got on the elevator headed to the first floor and out the front door.
